Don't know what everyone was expecting, there's not too many quality left backs around. Welcome Ryan. It's a good opportunity for him to get regular football. Whoever we got in was going to be a downgrade. We need a bit of perspective, I think it could be a decent signing, and it means we still have some funds in the bank

That video must be fake, all our players are unhappy and want to leave don't they?
-
The board are getting more stick than before Ralph's statement. Of course it might be lies but until Schneiderlin leaves then I'll believe him. Several posters are saying the exodus should have stopped at Lovren. Has it not occurred to anyone that the board might have been rather willing to sell an as yet unproven player in Chambers for the fee he went for? The deal went through a lot quicker than the others. Even Wenger admitted it was a gamble, I get the impression Les and co. happily accepted that one. I believe Schneiderlin is worth more than all the others who have gone, so there is no point entertaining anything below £27 million. Maybe Morgan should blame Liverpool and United for not getting his move as they're the ones who have paid up the silly amounts for Lallana, Shaw, Lovren etc

The mass exodus has to stop somewhere. Poor Morgan, if only he had come back from holiday a week earlier he might have been granted his dream of playing in the europa league for Spurs. It was never going to go down well, but with so many of our players acting in the wrong way, why is it so bad for Ralph to tell his plans straight to the media? Things can't get much worse, and the board had to make a statement, which, rightly or wrongly, they have. If Morgan is made to stay he'll just have to deal with it

So everyone moans about us letting all our players go, but as soon as we tell one he's staying it's out of order?
-
Incredible, about 10 weeks ago everything was fine, now we're talking about whether we should have kept Guly! Has it really come to this??!!?
-
Don't really see what he contributes. Every time I've watched him he's looked very lightweight. How many goals and assists does he have?
-
He's not even good enough for us, well, not until we sold half our team. They are welcome to him
-
So how many of you are really washing your hands of saints?
Saint_Tony replied to doddisalegend's topic in The Saints
You can't just wash your hands of it, if you can you're not a real fan. We've been through a lot these last few years and seen that many things can happen to a club. But my main issue is the fire sale, I have never seen anything like it in football, something is seriously wrong behind the scenes. -
It's a valid point. The championship is far more competitive and the games come thick and fast. What's our purpose in the premier league? To get all excited about finishing 8th? It's been a complete ****ing waste of time.

Morgan and Jay to Follow According to Simon Peach
Saint_Tony replied to brett24's topic in The Saints
Does Les have any time to try and bring players in, or is he too busy sorting out a transfer away for anyone who wants one? I remember I was mocked when the first 'how many signing will we need' thread appeared and answered 8 or 9. The problem is even if we get them in, it might be too late -
Confirmed. Good Riddance

Koeman seemed very relaxed when questioned about players leaving last night. Perhaps he has been told that he will be given the funds from all sales, and actually is keen on building his own side?
-
Will be very surprised if we stay up now. Even if we bring players in, they won't be of the same quality as the 8 or so that we will inevitably sell There must be a massive air of negativity around the club right now, and it must be affecting the players who are still here. Quite simply, everything is going wrong. Bottom line is that we might line up for the first game with Yoshida and Hooiveld as centre backs, which would be a disaster.
-
No it's not a great team,it's one that would struggle even in the Championship.
-
The fact is he's not been honest with the fans, we expected 3-4 departures and it's looking likely it's going to be 7/8. Interestingly I thought Ronald seemed quite relaxed in his interview last night when talking about players leaving, almost as if he was told it was inevitable half the team will leave
-
It's difficult not to be a 'bedwetter' over the whole situation. How many other clubs in football history have sold half of their starting 11 in the space of a few weeks? We know Lovren's going, and I've had confirmation Morgan's gone, sadly. Koeman has a hell of a job on his hands

How many more signings do you think we'll make ?
Saint_Tony replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
We still need another 5-6 but I can't see it happening. Still can't believe people think the likes of Gallagher, Targett and Reed will be good enough at this level. Even Ward Prowse isn't up to it at this level. And we all remember how well the dutch experiment went with a load of kids who are all playing in League 2 now.As it stands we are likely to be relegated. Worrying times -
It really isn't that easy to complete transfers, so I can't see us getting our business done until the end of the window when we will already be bottom of the league. My other concern is that Reed and co are spending too much time sorting out transfers for Lovren, Osvaldo and Schneiderlin, rather than bringing players in.

We won't be in the top half this season so might as well do a Sunderland and go on a couple of cup runs and just avoid relegation
-
No. To be honest we are better off fading into mid-table obscurity with the likes of Stoke and Villa, and just be happy with where we are. Too many of us bought into Cortese's European dreams, which even he realised weren't going to happen, hence jumping ship when he did. This season we'd be better off having a couple of cup runs similar to Sunderland last season. To think we were all jumping for joy at finishing eighth and having three England internationals. Looking back just a couple of months later, it was one of the worst things to ever happen to the club.
-
Was watching on SSN when the news broke. How can you say someone has had a great International career when it's been full of poor performances at major tournaments? Don't get me wrong, Gerrard has shown a lot more passion and drive for his country than many others, but it's been during a period of failure, and his best performances have all been in a Liverpool shirt
-
I meant more an attacking squad player to bring off of the bench, something we lacked last year (other than Guly)
-
So we are going to assume Targett is the next Shaw and will definitely be good enough to be our first choice left back? So who will be back up?
-
So what have they said to indicate they are staying, compared to what they have said regarding leaving?
