1. Shaw replacement 2. Osvaldo replacement 3. Guly replacement 4. Another striker as J Rod is out and Gallagher not ready 5. Goalkeeper to challenge Boruc for No 1 shirt 6. Lovren replacement 7. Schneiderlin replacement I really do believe this is a minimum requirement if we want to finish anywhere near 8th. You've only got to look at the pre-season squad to realise how small and inexperienced it is. Not sure what you mean by those who won't get a game, we could have lost 5 first team players by the end of the window. And we can't rely on the like of Gallagher, Reed, Targett etc. Despite some people believing every young player we have will be good enough like Shaw, it just isn't going to happen
-
We are still 7 players short with the impending exits of Lovren and Morgan. Would be amazed if we signed more than 3-4. It's going to be a long, tough season
-
Did I say that? I said I would be surprised if we finished above all of them, which would allow for just one of them to finish above us. In all fairness the rumours of players in have gone quiet once again. The squad is looking very thin, it was an issue last season, and is currently a much bigger issue.
-
All our closest rivals are strengthening well (Newcastle, West Ham, Stoke, West Brom). I'd be surprised of we finished above all of them this season.

Man City Chelsea Man Utd Arsenal Saints 18th and relegated along with Burnley and West Brom Derby Watford Forest

£10 million for Pelle though? I'm not convinced he will be successful at all. So it seems Ronald will try and bring in a few lower profile signing, hope he's aware of the meltdown thar will cause on here

Koeman's first Southampton press conference 11/7/14

Its live on SSN now -
- 2 strikers - 1 left back - 1 centre back - 1 central midfielder who can actually provide a goal threat unlike all of our cms -1 goalkeeper - 1 attacking wide player (Redmond)
-
Only at Spurs, but yes they have. As I've mentioned before Morgan is desperate to play under Wenger
-
It's my understanding he will be an Arsenal player early next week. Unsure of the fee yet. My contact at Spurs said we were unwilling to do business with them, which is nice to know
-
Gallagher is simply not yet good enough for the first team. Assuming Osvaldo and Sharp leave too, possibly Mayuka, it is essential we sign at least 2 strikers. Not overly convinced by Pelle, but seems that might not be on anymore. First preference would be Ings, but it's going to be difficult to bring in someone who can get 15 goals a season who will come to us
-
Ok fair enough. So selling your best players for inflated fees should be seen as a sign of ambition?
-
What evidence do we have of this ambition?
-
We've had a go at trying to compete with the top 6. We did ok, and tried hard but ultimately failed and now it has spectacularly backfired on us. It's difficult to speculate as to where we would be with NC still here, but with Reed appearing to be the main figure of power, we are a bit of a soft touch as far as other clubs are concerned. We are back in the same position as Newcastle, West Ham, Stoke etc. A mid table side with no great ambition, and no realistic chance of troubling the elite, nothing more than that. It's time for people to accept we hit that glass ceiling very hard and are now falling a long way back down. If we continue to convince ourselves that every academy product is capable of playing in the starting 11 and don't sign 7/8 players, then we are in deep, deep trouble
-
He's only saying these things so he can leave on decent terms, as opposed to the like of Lallana and Lovren who have both acted disgracefully. Don't expect him back in training, he's gone
-
All I will say is prepare to be very disappointed
-
Have been told Arsenal have offered only £15 million, so don't expect him to go for any more than £20
-
Have heard from my source at Spurs that Arsenal are in pole position to sign him and that the deal should be wrapped up within the next couple of weeks. Although he admires MP, he is desperate to play for Wenger and play in the Champions League
-
We may well have said we want £25m, but what are the odds he leaves for less than that? Long odds on I would say
-
Yes, it's all well and good saying we will only accept x amount for a player, but we all know Les Reed will eventually bow down to the mighty Liverpool, followed by an explanation that we got a good fee and will invest it in the squad. But fear not! The stripes are back so everything is good right now at SFC
-
So sky sports reporting we're in negotiations with Liverpool. This is beyond a joke now, we might as well take the squad up to Liverpool and let them have whoever they like. At least that might speed things up so we can focus on bringing players in.It's absolutely sickening, we're the biggest joke in football right now

The Flip Side - Very Compelling Project For Koeman
Saint_Tony replied to Gemmel's topic in The Saints
Of course. I think we'd have to be happy with a midtable finish, even the current players will have to adapt to his playing style. No doubt there will be endless numbers calling for his head if we don't finish at least 8th -

In a way it is a good project for him. Once we've cleared out everyone, hopefully he can he given the funds to build his own team. There's plenty of scope for change, we just have to hope we can start attracting the right sort of players, and that Koeman is here with a long term vision -
We can't keep letting players take the ****. We're turning into a joke, we might as well get relegated, there is no point whatsover in us bothering with trying to achieve anything in the PL when this sort of thing is happening. The club HAS to make a stand. Les Reed has to show some ******** and lay down the law. He has said players won't leave but is still being forced into it.
