If it is Still least he should have good knowledge of the French league. Sure there are some bargains to be had there as PSG aside there isn’t a lot of money in Ligue 1

Id imagine Rohl was out Plan A but he’s holding out for a top tier job in Germany and Still is our plan B. if Plan A hasn’t progressed and there is a chance Plan B could go somewhere else, do you hold out waiting for Plan A or move to get Plan B instead. Sounds we have gone for Still because he’ll be an option for other championship sides and Rohl is still keeping us on hold.

Archer only works as a striker if playing in a front two. He’s doesn’t have the qualities to play as the sole forward

I’m assuming we are waiting for the season to be over before making the announcement but if it is Rohl we want, now the Championship season is over I hope we firm up and get it sorted. Even if he doesn’t officially start yet, just get it done, give the players a few games to try and put some effort in and impress the new manager.

Tbh I don’t really care who goes. They have shown (bar a couple) they aren’t good enough for the PL, so as long as we get a fair price for them I’d sell anyone who isn’t up for the fight of returning straight back up.

Americans seem most likely currently given how many clubs are being brought by them. would be nice to have someone who is happy to invest in the squad for now and progress, rather than trying to find gems to sell on for profits

Be interested to see what happens after Sheff Weds final game next weekend. Will Rohl walk or has a deal been done for him to move somewhere else. He clearly knows he’s off and how told the club of his decision

Bringing players in to be backup / squad fillers has been half our problem over recent years.

Last season recruitment wasn’t a problem. This season yes, we didn’t do enough to strengthen the areas we knew we were short. Too many gambles or players known not to be PL level

Agree. If you get the club at the top of the tree set up and working then you can start to spread out to other clubs. Get us established in prem for a couple of years then you can invest in youngsters to farm out to feeder teams.

Tbf I thought our recruitment last season was generally good. Players brought in to get us out the league, the issue was too much faith was put into them being good enough and signed up this season. M

Think everyone would agree the squad isn’t good enough? But surely you make the best of what you have and try and play a way best suited to that. we pick managers who have one way of playing and play it regardless.

There is no denying that our recruitment has been on the whole woeful for past few seasons. Whether that’s the recruitment team or the fact we still shop in the £15M price bracket, when in reality that gets you un tested youngsters, there in lies our issue. No problem with these for squad fillers but we need players at premier league level not a team of punts and maybe in a year or two they’ll be ok types.
