There is an argument that you should get the bulk of your team for the league your in and have half an eye on promotion. I seem to recall there was a player a few years back who would help a team get promoted then get sold to the next team and help them get promoted. He did this two or three times. If Gorkss gets us up I'll be happy. With a year remaining on his contract after that we can sell him. It would always be better to have the cash and spend it on the player we want but this deal may work out for the best. We get a chance at a player in a position of need without having to compete with other clubs for his signature.

Seems to me that the headline grabbing fee probably never gets paid. Its inflated with "add-ons" to massage the egos of clubs, players, and agents. Rather like in American sports when players get a $80 million contract over eight years (the last three years are voidable and bump the contract total up by $40 million).

BBC are suggesting that Huddersfield have had a bid for Adam Le Fondre rejected. He would be a good signing for them.

Is that at SMS or at St James Park? If the former then it would be eerily similar to something said about Newcastle on the BBC DDB and might suggest that an announcement by both clubs is to coincide.

I think the second season can be tougher. Teams sometimes do okay in the first season because they are a surprise package to the other clubs. After their best players have been cherry picked by the established teams in two transfer windows, they soon plummet back down to the Championship. Look at Blackpool, Charlie Adams to Liverpool and they are "reportedly" looking to replace him with Andy Reid. Big drop-off in talent.

I remember watching him play and wondering what the hell he was doing on the pitch. Funny thing was we always struggled when he was injured or suspended. If not under rated then definitely an unsung hero for too long.

I hated that game. As soon as you got near the top of the division your squad would strangely lose form and/or your key players would all get injured. Played it for hours and never got promoted.
