  1. Not a big fan of 3G but saves being caked in mud all day. Quite up for this!
  2. Nice one. If there's anywhere that does 'proper' beer then so much the better. Neither can I, but weirdly this one's actually cheaper than West Ham for me! Sunderland: £16 ticket, £30 petrol (£120 split four ways), £7.50 hotel (£15 room, Travelodge mates rate) = £53.50 + beer. West Ham: £43 ticket, £10 train, £8 tube = £61 +beer. I don't even have to drive
  3. The togetherness is a sight to behold, as is our tempo and workrate. The commentators last night were spaffing themselves silly over it. Another related point is that yesterday's starting XI, Rodriguez aside, was very cheaply assembled by Premier League standards. Conversely Hull (billed as plucky underdogs) had two players on the pitch that cost a combined £14m in January. We have built slowly, steadily and sensibly over the past 5 years. I would argue that even our larger transfer fees paid have been justifiable considering the TV money. Yes, there have been some mis-steps, but 'Billy Big ********' behaviour has been dealt with well. If you don't make the effort to fit in at Saints you will lose out, but additions such as Lovren have shown how quickly you are welcomed if you do. Add in our youth output and things are looking undeniably rosy. Meltdown? Us?
  4. Never been to the Stadium of Light or indeed Sunderland itself. Worst comes to the worst I'll just make a weekend of it up there, but I have a good feeling that we can get the win.
  5. No doubt celebrations would be a little more muted if we won the Cup in modern times, but as somebody that was born 11 years after the heroics of '76, the prospect of experiencing a day even half as good is far more exciting than whether we finish 7th or 10th.
  6. Worthy cause. Pushed it out on Twitter too.
  7. Not at all. TV Licence inspectors have no right to enter your property without a police warrant, for which they would have to gather evidence of you watching live broadcasts without a licence. Quite a complex matter in itself. If you write to TV Licensing informing them that you wish to revoke their implied right of access, inspectors will not be allowed to set foot any further than where your property meets the street. As for the parking invoice (it's not a 'fine' unless a criminal matter, as mentioned above) - ignoring it is absolutely the best course of action. Not sure if West Quay does, but many private car parks use Parking Eye technology (it'll be on the invoice if they do). They're absolute shysters and do not go through with the implied court action in 99.9% of cases. When they do, they invariably lose. It's my understanding that the DVLA sells registered driver details to these companies (and made circa £10m last year doing so).
  8. Just got 29 but I'm going to have to delete it as well before wasting any more time on this crud. The collision detection is so shonky!
  9. Utterly sodding ridiculous. Still, never mind the travelling hardcore - must prioritise the TV crowd.
  10. Oof, 7.40am train for me that morning then!
  11. Yep, in! Has the venue been set? I'll likely be getting the train up so may need to cadge a lift if it's a way out.
  12. In case anybody hasn't bought train tickets yet - return tickets to London from £10: http://www.southwesttrains.co.uk/wintersmiles.aspx Last weekend I got a Hedge End > London Terminals ticket for a tenner so hopefully it'll save some of you a few bob. Valid until 23rd February.
  13. Absolutely. Certainly the most pragmatic. Not the situation I'd wish us to be in but here we are. Goodness knows where we're heading next but I for one am up for the ride.
  14. Decent summary. Clyne's, Lambert's and Lallana's strikes on the highlights reel make the match look far more enjoyable than it was when taken as a whole. We certainly weren't putting in a performance that suggested Burnley were dead and buried by half time - difference being that they upped their game while we continued to look rather disinterested. Thank goodness we had the quality on the bench to turn the tide. As mentioned elsewhere it was an odd game. For an FA Cup win featuring seven goals I came away feeling a bit hollow.

    Our support

Shows some passion (or rather pain) from the Leeds lot I suppose. St. Mary's was moribund today.
  16. You're right on the others, but we've had some top support at Boxing Day matches! The atmosphere at Cardiff shat all over today. Away days are becoming the go-to if you want support that doesn't depend purely on how the match is going. I didn't notice him once in the second half. Anonymous.
  17. No, it wasn't just you. That was one of the most stark contrasts on the night. Well, other than only one team featuring players that have a future in the game.
  18. Bless our lads - kind of them to keep it to a score the average Portsmouth resident can count to on one hand. That was a ****ing brilliant evening's entertainment all-round.
  19. More that with only 1500-ish sold so far, I can't see the walk-up bringing it much above 2000. Would seem odd if they turned people away on the day but this is Saints.
  20. Any reason why you wouldn't buy one online and collect tomorrow? There's a few left in Blocks 4 & 5, plus you'll be guaranteed against disappointment. My original order didn't go through so I bought one this morning. Postal delivery obviously isn't available now but with 2,000 home fans maximum it's unlikely to be a massive queue for collection.
  21. Maybe you had to be there.
  22. Rarely have I ever been so ****ed off after a game. Just about simmering down now but that was an awful way to lose. I'd rather add to some of the stats on here as Villa completed a mite less than 50% of their passes - can't recall seeing a completion rate lower than that at the top level. It gives a measure of how poor they were and, despite any negatives, how well we managed to break up play yet again. Three mistakes/moments of weakness, three goals conceded. I just don't know how you can account for that when we didn't play particularly poorly. I see lots of talk about our lack of creativity; when we worked the space we were actually pinging it about nicely in the final third. It's always going to be difficult to play through the middle when the opposition is camping narrowly in their own half. One thing that does annoy is the reluctance of Shaw and Clyne to beat the opposition full back. If they've been instructed to be more conservative it seems wrong - especially when one of our CDMs drops in to cover them. Arsenal and Chelsea were largely better than us whereas Aston Villa played a kick and rush game that carved us open worryingly easily. We've got to find a method to withstand hoofball tactics or teams that sit deep and work the counter attack. To move to the next level we don't need to pick more than the odd point off top 4 teams, but we do need to put the average ones to bed. That's certainly how Everton have pushed on over the past decade. I see no need for panic stations - a wafer thin slice of better luck our way and we'd be sitting pretty again. Perform like tonight (defensive frailties 'n all) and we'll still win plenty. It's true that beyond our strongest 13 or 14 players the quality dips, but the squad's still far stronger than it was 12 months ago.
  23. This is how it feels to be P*mpey, This is how it feels to be small, This is how it feels, When your club means nothing at all. Fits the original lyrics and doesn't rely upon which no-name they have in charge. Job done.
  24. Which pub are people heading to?
  25. I'm probably going to chance it and travel up on the day without a ticket, but if any end up going spare I'll gladly do the legwork to take it off your hands. Just need the one.
