  1. Wasn't there last night, but at Bournemouth both the 'Lallana'/Sloop John B chant and the FC Twente ones were sung - the latter more often, as it should ideally be.
  2. So who's calling this the 'Ronald Revolution' then? Never seen that term used on here!
  3. Exactly my philosophy. I generally try to be balanced and pragmatic but hold my hands up as having become too wrapped up in the minutiae of modern football. Sometimes you've got to step back and recall why we do this. What got us into football in the first place? Not the politics, that's for sure. Sod giving up my season ticket (or the away games I can afford to go to); the chance to watch Saints - in whatever state - is too important to miss.

    Fans as players

Blimey, we have a lot of left footers. I'm a left midfielder, in the process of being transferred to a CAM role. Proponent of playing a high line (but only if my teammates put the same effort in). Best utilised in a squad that plays one-touch football but enjoy running at opposition full backs and can swing a cross in. Decent enough tackler from my time at left back. Gradually losing pace, not strong enough and I'm far too prone to crumbling under opposition pressure. Also have something of a temper... Special ability: people seem to assume I'm younger than I am. Also, reading this back I realise I've had similar positional transitions to Gareth Bale. Sadly that's where the comparisons end.
  5. Not a chance. It's actually quite a funny idea - given the number of variables involved, any expected attendance from the club's end will no doubt be plucked from the air. A drop-in-the-ocean 'protest' is going to have zero impact.
  6. May do just that, ta for the advice. Assumed people would've been heading off on holiday Wednesday/yesterday as schools broke up midweek.
  7. I work in Chilworth and the M27 heading west from here doesn't look too clever either. Leaving work at 3.30pm so hopefully there won't be so many New Forest/beach day trippers to contend with by then. Google Maps gives a traffic-adjusted journey time of 1 hour rather than 40 minutes so it shouldn't be too traumatic. Be good to see our lot given a proper workout. Also interested to see whether Bournemouth fans still have delusions over being our rivals.
  8. My office has been collecting these and we still need the following: 10, 23, 30, 32, 38, 42 113, 118, 119, 126, 132, 141, 144, 145, 176, 180 235, 256, 276 338, 341, 371, 385, 394, 395 402, 409, 410, 413, 438, 439, 443, 451, 458 517, 546, 548, 581, 587 624, 628, 630, 638 Throw me a PM if you've got any we need - happy to either swap (got an obscene pile of doubles) or lob a bit of money your way. (For my record - ones I'm being sent by Saints Web people): 84, 172, 318, 357, 369, 457, 461, 468, 512, 527, 595, 599, 622)
  9. Yes and no. The cheap ticket prices will mean it'll sell pretty well, but neither the corners of the ground nor the Chapel Stand will be open which reduces potential capacity somewhat. I'd just avoid Northam Blocks 40-42, where the rabble such as myself reside Being so close to the start of the season (and the only home friendly) there ought to be a fun atmosphere - a decent opportunity to get the kids hooked. Just noticed I was too slow in replying... Enjoy!
  10. According to the ticket line staff they don't have the ability to override the booking fees (make your own mind up on whether that's true). I argued the toss but as I only needed two tickets did relent. Would've cost me more in petrol to get down to the ticket office although that's not really the point. Still, decent opposition and we should be approaching a full strength squad by then. Hopefully will be played at less of a canter than the early friendlies.
  11. Likewise! Steve seems a top bloke (albeit purely based on a few tweets exchanged). However when it comes down to a choice between the 10,000 mAh Anker E3 at £21.99 and the 3,000 mAh Veho Pebble at £19.99, you'd have to be desperate for the smaller dimensions to chose the device with less than a third of the storage capacity. Charged my phone each night at Sonisphere (so 4 times) and still came away with 25% battery in the E3.
  12. I'm not sure there's a massive discrepancy with last year's sizes. In 2013-14 I wore a Small home shirt and was gifted the away in a Medium (Megastore staff apparently advised it came up a size smaller). I picked up a Medium 2014-15 shirt today and that seems to fit OK, just similar to last season's away in that it's a pretty skinny cut. Sort of expected as there's always slight variations when moving from one manufacturer to another. For those that care, this is the lot that the club's sourcing the kit from, albeit 'white label'. http://lbjsportsapparel.co.uk
  13. Oh, hell no. Nightmare visions of a 'fan on the board' voting to sell 2020's version of Morgan Schneiderlin so that we can persist with 2020's version of Paul Wotton.
  14. For those interested, the latest article on the OS states that season ticket discount IS available from tomorrow. Power to the people!
  15. Expiration seems to be at an indeterminate point after a season's end - also asked for clarification on this as none of this info is included in the season ticket sales pack nor the club's T&Cs for ticket sales. Certainly when I bought the 2013/14 shirt last July I tried to use my 2013/14 ST to get the 10% discount and was told it wasn't active yet, with the 2012/13 one supposedly having expired. At the end of the day it's only a fiver but it's the principle that rankles. Bit of an unnecessary money grab, especially when the discount is listed as a front-and-centre perk of being a ST holder. Also a bit bloody cheeky for the new ST not to be 'active' upon receipt when they've had our lump sums as far back as 29th April.
  16. You can get the 10% discount with a season ticket, but only from 1st August - conveniently long enough after many will have bought the new kit. I asked the club why that policy exists and they're currently "investigating".
  17. Been meaning to check out the definitive pronunciation - guess I'm a bit too young to remember it from his playing career. This link certainly seems to support the OP - http://www.forvo.com/word/ronald_koeman.
  18. A mid table finish would do very nicely. I've been saying for a couple of weeks that we'll be fine; the situation's only getting more exciting. Short of Reed and Koeman telling barefaced lies we were always going to replace the departures with quality. You'd also have to ask why the hell RK would've come here if Liebherr's intention was a 'fire sale' (ha - at tens of millions a pop!) or asset strip. Granted it's one thing to claim we're out to sign decent players and another to deliver it, but the board deserved more of the benefit of the doubt than they received. Here's to the team continuing to deliver across the required positions.

    Poor Old Lallana

Awful quality video been doing the rounds. You can't even see Lallana, but you get the gist.
  20. Yep, I imagine we'll need it in time for the Swindon and Bournemouth friendlies, unless they're going to play in their away kits.
  21. Nice one, ta. Looks like there's a bar and cellar near where I'll be staying called Chaplin's - will probably check that out as well.
  22. Looks like my girlfriend and I will be making a short break out of this - would be nice if the weather could hold up... Anybody know of any places in Bournemouth that specialise in ale/craft beer? Would be surprised if it doesn't get to general sale, though I'd jump on quickly tomorrow morning to make sure.
  23. As a student throughout that period I could only make it to about 1 match in 5 or 6. Almost felt guilty about not suffering every painful moment first-hand. In some ways I guess it was better that online streams weren't widely available in those days. One enduring memory was getting my mates 'round to watch the 2008 FA Cup match against Bristol Rovers as it was shown on the BBC. I was convinced we were on the verge of a cup run to give the season some credibility! Ended up utterly dismayed with our lacklustre, toothless performance; Lambert's free kick deflecting in off Wright was crushing.
  24. Feels like an age since season tickets were just bits of paper even though it's really only a few years. Think I've still got a 2011/12 book of tickets for matches 7-23 somewhere (quite a few were accidentally sent out to non-finance ST holders).
  25. Not personally! Point taken though - only a bit of petulant fun.
