    Without Pelle

They are. But Pelle's movement can be excellent too - was against United. It was entirely responsible for crafting his chance to make it 2-0, when his shot just clipped the post rather than sneaking in.

    Without Pelle

Exactly. Pelle doesn't get nearly enough credit for his workrate. Haven't checked the most recent stats, but in the first half of last season he covered more ground than any other PL striker. On Sunday, there was an occasion in the second half where Graziano sprinted into the United half, chasing down from the front. Must have run a good 60-70 yards at full-pelt. He jogged back to catch his breath, at which point a ball was played over the top from midfield. Given that Pelle was a) never going to get to it and b) still offside, it was absolutely pointless to waste any further energy. Yet one of the masterminds behind me was apoplectic; effing and blinding, calling a lazy this-that-and-the-other. Lots of fans seem to pick up on individual moments without considering context. I know you can't watch the movements of all 11 players at all time but keeping track of the ones currently involved in play really shouldn't be that difficult.

    Without Pelle

Now I don't agree with dropping Pelle on the basis of last night, nor that we play better without him - but there may be something in this. The vast majority of Pelle's goals for us come at home. What would need to be established is whether that's because the way we play away doesn't suit him so well and whether any of our other strikers can reap better returns on the road. In short, playing a bit more 'horses for courses' rather than inking Graziano's name on the teamsheet regardless.
  4. Couldn't have gone any better really, could it? Clean sheet; Rodriguez amongst the goals; Bertrand back in first team action to (briefly) complete our best back four; Juanmi slotting in well; Ramirez looking worthy as a backup option; 6 goals from 8 shots on target and plenty more near-misses. Away attendance of 2,556 too, which is excellent.
  5. Over 2,500 Saints fans there and 6 goals from 8 shots on target. Good night for us, however poor MK Dons have been.
  6. Ah well, at least Corbyn didn't roger a dead pig.
  7. I say it every year when this comes up. The 'overall' number matters little - it's the players' individual attributes you want to be looking at.
  8. Can I have my sausages burnt to a crisp, please? So that they can only be identified by reference to their dental records.
  9. Sunday, bloody Sunday.
  10. Heh, I was being somewhat facetious; suppose it didn't come across properly. Doesn't surprise me too much.
  11. No doubt there'll be a few uncomfortable truths contained within. Thankfully football has moved on somewhat. Perhaps.
  12. Still, struggling to see how that's much different to SMS, other than their bowl having two tiers.
  13. In a choice between The Brewery Bar and the The Barleycorn I'd go for the former every time.
  14. Not badly written, that. Far pithier than the club's own survey. Perhaps they'd be interested to see the results too? One thing to bear in mind with using percentage of capacity is that we'll never be at 100% due to the way segregation is handled. It may be different at some other grounds.
  15. That's the one. Arrived at 09.32 this morning and has a Word Doc attached. I'd check your spam boxes, ladies and gents!
  16. I can't be doing with any of it any more, to the point that I don't bother with terrestrial TV either. Don't have time to watch much, plus it's still perfectly legal to use iPlayer and similar services (for catch-up programmes only, not live broadcasts). Saves on Sky/Virgin/BT TV fees and the TV licence - we're only paying for broadband and line rental. I'm at 2/3 to 3/4 of all Saints matches anyway and am happy to watch the broadcast games (that I'm not attending) at the pub.
  17. In the Watford 'Spoons on Sunday, there were some of our lot singing "He's a Kenyan, a greedy Kenyan, Victor Wanyama". All based on a 'story' that was potentially leaked by another club. Cracking support.
  18. Should be in your inbox now. Lays out all of the details in full and gives a direct contact number.
  19. Could swear my knees are about 10 years older than I am (and they clearly hate me to boot). Attempting to rest up for Sunday!
  20. Certainly a game of fine margins. Not to mention that on another day the ref may have not seen any infringement from Caulker for his 'goal'. Had that stood and we'd got the rub on a couple of other chances, people would be saying, "sign of a good team - playing badly and still winning". Agree with those that have said the ref should have been stronger on the timewasting. Also noted that he bizarrely gave the ball to Midtjylland for the throw-in after one of their players put it out for another 'injury' (not to mention that the lad was already up and about by the time the ball crossed the line to go out ). I personally think the Vitesse results were deceptive. We're not a 'team' yet and it could take at least the season to form us back into one. We're sorely missing Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and Bertrand. That's a LOT of the engine to have to rebuild. At the start of last season we only gelled so quickly because we managed a number of like-for-like purchases in the Summer. Thus far we've not been able to properly assess Clasie, haven't signed a TA-level replacement (yet) and have Ryan on the sidelines. I've confidence we'll come good but am also acutely aware that more time is needed on this occasion. A 1-1 draw isn't much worse than a 1-0 to us really. If they'd stuck another in, it really would be a trickier proposition. Can't see us firing a blank in Denmark; in which case we'll be on an even footing. Will they play so defensively at home? Well, I guess RK and team have a week now to figure out how to break them down. As long as it's not resorting to long balls I reckon we'll scrape through.
  21. Sure, but massively relaxed. You don't need to have been at Vitesse or have 10 - 12 aways now. If you're a season ticket holder with 6 aways on your number that'll do it. Must be a helluva lot more people that qualify for that than there was with the previous restrictions.
  22. That was my assumption so good to hear that's generally been the case. As I said, will give them a buzz at lunch regardless.
  23. If any of you lot want away tickets for Midtjylland, I'd advise getting on the ticket site sharpish, before everybody cracks on. I logged in at 9.00am and had bought mine within 30 seconds. No queue on the site at the moment.
  24. Quick Q as my girlfriend has managed to misplace her membership card (and her ticket for tomorrow was uploaded to it). Have any of you lost/forgotten to bring a membership card on a matchday, and were the ticket office receptive to printing the ticket instead? I'll ring the ticket office ahead of the match anyway, but thought it worth asking here in the meantime.
  25. Well we got just under 31,000 for the home leg against Vitesse despite it being 'sold out' (due to lack of hospitality sales etc.) Even with 1,000 less away fans, some of our lot not being able to afford to consistently pay for Thursday/Sunday matches (and whatever other excuses you care for) we've still got to be aiming for 27-28k, surely?
