Could swear my knees are about 10 years older than I am (and they clearly hate me to boot). Attempting to rest up for Sunday!

Certainly a game of fine margins. Not to mention that on another day the ref may have not seen any infringement from Caulker for his 'goal'. Had that stood and we'd got the rub on a couple of other chances, people would be saying, "sign of a good team - playing badly and still winning". Agree with those that have said the ref should have been stronger on the timewasting. Also noted that he bizarrely gave the ball to Midtjylland for the throw-in after one of their players put it out for another 'injury' (not to mention that the lad was already up and about by the time the ball crossed the line to go out ). I personally think the Vitesse results were deceptive. We're not a 'team' yet and it could take at least the season to form us back into one. We're sorely missing Schneiderlin, Alderweireld and Bertrand. That's a LOT of the engine to have to rebuild. At the start of last season we only gelled so quickly because we managed a number of like-for-like purchases in the Summer. Thus far we've not been able to properly assess Clasie, haven't signed a TA-level replacement (yet) and have Ryan on the sidelines. I've confidence we'll come good but am also acutely aware that more time is needed on this occasion. A 1-1 draw isn't much worse than a 1-0 to us really. If they'd stuck another in, it really would be a trickier proposition. Can't see us firing a blank in Denmark; in which case we'll be on an even footing. Will they play so defensively at home? Well, I guess RK and team have a week now to figure out how to break them down. As long as it's not resorting to long balls I reckon we'll scrape through.

That was my assumption so good to hear that's generally been the case. As I said, will give them a buzz at lunch regardless.

Quick Q as my girlfriend has managed to misplace her membership card (and her ticket for tomorrow was uploaded to it). Have any of you lost/forgotten to bring a membership card on a matchday, and were the ticket office receptive to printing the ticket instead? I'll ring the ticket office ahead of the match anyway, but thought it worth asking here in the meantime.

Well we got just under 31,000 for the home leg against Vitesse despite it being 'sold out' (due to lack of hospitality sales etc.) Even with 1,000 less away fans, some of our lot not being able to afford to consistently pay for Thursday/Sunday matches (and whatever other excuses you care for) we've still got to be aiming for 27-28k, surely?

Block 42, V. Not quite in with the yoof (most of the people around me are probably twice my age).

Oh cripes, that was Watford, wasn't it. I'll be a popular face. Be good to check how that lad's getting on though. Well we were causing them problems down the wings but point taken...

I can drop back to a marauding Left Back role if need be.

Absolutely fine with Targett continuing at LB, but the balance of the midfield/attack may need to be more closely considered. When utilising 4-2-3-1, the wider two of the '3' have a duty to protect the full backs when the opposition comes forward and to cover them on the overlap. Rodriguez's attacking prowess isn't in question but he's better suited to that role with a confident, proven LB behind him. Targett clearly needs a little more help than he's getting right now.

Gradually edging towards a sell-out, although I doubt we'll quite get there. Personally could do with it happening though as I'll be away this weekend and reselling my seat would be handy!

Depends what you're after, really. If you just want to secure tickets to the match then gambling seems daft - especially when the view is decent from just about anywhere in the stadium. If you want to sit in a specific block then yes, choices might be more limited. I wanted tickets together in Block 42 so had to move slightly back from my normal seat. Though even then, there's plenty of availability in Block 43 and 44 since we have most of the Northam for this match. It's only really the middle of Kingsland/Itchen with very restricted numbers of seats currently on sale.

What a disgusting, unempathetic attitude. It seems some are so short-sighted as to not realise that people paid less than a living wage will need to be subsidised by the state. That affects us all, quite aside from the morality of the situation. It is a football-related matter because it directly relates to the operations of the club. Even if you ignore the disparity of the wage allocation, when a company's turning a profit as large as we are and none of it trickles down that's wrong.

I'd go virtually full-strength for this. We're at the stage of the season where match sharpness is a bonus. Shouldn't we actually get into the competition first? Some are already talking like we're going to be playing Thursday-Sunday every few weeks throughout the season. If we end up struggling stick the ball away (it does happen!), we need to lock Vitesse out. I wouldn't fancy trying that with a defence/defensive midfield consisting of kids and reserves. If we get an early goal then that changes everything and we can start playing percentages, making early changes to protect players.

Ticket bought - I'm in.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 3-0 Vitesse Arnhem - Europa League R3

Pretty special evening, that. Rapidly warming to this competition! -
Uhuh - in the same boat as I'm away for the first home game too. Looks like it'll only be useful later in the season.
-
Tell me about it. Basically come to the conclusion that 5.30pm is never going to arrive.
-
What a shame - will have to stick to drinking something worth drinking then. Worth knowing in terms of the queues to get in though!
-
Yup. I'm told that Yates was packed from pretty much the moment it opened. Great support! Should be a buzz about the city tonight.

Yep, my understanding is that we have the option to purchase, and that if we decide to take it up, QPR can't buy us out of it. Thus me saying "no buy-out option".
