  1. I do think the reaction to this is interesting, not just from saints fans but many others. It's clearly about a lot more than just Adkins. People are becoming very unhappy with the way football is heading... Football now is ridiculous ticket prices, it's being told there's a £1.50 booking fee per ticket when you're asking for 5 to the same address, it's players on incomprehensible wages, players coming through the youth system and leaving after a few games when Arsenal wave a few quid under their noses, its being told to sit down, it's games being moved left right and centre, and it's stupid unrealistic expectations from foreign club owners, it's fans being treated as "customers". Through all of that, fans are still looking for something to help them connect with their club, we had Nigel Adkins, a talented manager and a bloody nice bloke. Fans could connect to the club because of him, but that connection has been removed with little justification and what are we left with? All the other stuff. Feels like Cortese has drawn a line in the sand and said "this is modern football, how dare you expect to have a connection with anybody at the club, like it or lump it".
  2. I think a lot of the feeling on this stems from people's unhappiness with how football is going. Ridiculous ticket prices, ticket tax, games moved all over the place, players on incomprehensible money, owners treating clubs like their personal play things, heavy handed stewards forcing you to sit, mercenary managers... But through all of that, we had Nigel Adkins, a very talented manager but also a bloody good bloke, and despite all the other stuff, here was somebody the fans could connect with, it made us feel more in touch with our club. So to sack him just when things were on the up brings all that other stuff into sharp focus, we are no different, just another club with stupid prices and fans being treated like ****.
  3. Honestly Alpine I just don't understand. We scored 3 more points than Villa, 2 more than Wigan, QPR & Newcastle, and we prevented Reading gaining on us. We picked up a confidence boosting win with an injury affected side. We could have scored 3 less than Villa and Reading, and 1 less than Wigan, QPR and Newcastle. We could have taken a confidence denting defeat and be sat in the bottom 3. How can you not see much cheer in that?
  4. That clears that up then. Impressive that you got a bite being that obvious.
  5. I really hope you're just fishing! Lol.
  6. I don't get it
  7. Why are we debating this like it happened in slow motion? Like he had ages to think about and make decision about what to do. It happened in a split second, he anticipated contact, it didn't come, he's not the first and he won't be the last.
  8. Welcome to the premier league, 12 million generally does not get you a ready made world class player.
  9. I don't even think he was that, the whole reason the Spurs incident happened was because people were already on his back on his home debut.
  10. Tactical nous, defend like hell, get really lucky, nick a goal.
  11. You mean, except for all the goals he's scored for us that were quite a lot like it? He's scored plenty on the shoulder of the last defender. Personally, if Lambert was to get a nasty injury now I would consider us to be in pretty major trouble.
  12. Such a lazy football fan opinion to say a player who hit 30 last year has lost a yard of pace. He hasn't, not that he had much to lose, you're just seeing what you're expecting to see.
  13. The sad truth is though that it would've made no difference whatsoever. Just like it'll make no difference whether we ask the question or not. We have absolutely no influence in what happens.
  14. So did they conduct a thorough body search, or did they just make you empty your pockets?
  15. This. Northam seat not available so tried itchen north and it was awful.
  16. Maybe, but my point is that was his third game for the club, is it beyond the realms of possibility that he could get quite a lot better very quickly?
  17. Yep, we should drop him, because we've never had a player make a shaky start and then turn out to be really good.
  18. Ok cheers. The only ticket I've received is for the non st holder in our group.
  19. For the cup game, I know that season ticket holders are just having the game added to their card, but what about those of us who've had to move to a different stand? Should we receive actual tickets or is it just getting added to the card despite the wrong seat number being printed on there?
  20. Lambert not as good as he was? I think he's got better and better. If you put him back into league 1 now he would absolutely destroy it.
  21. Mewsta, I'm one of the group I think we are talking about. I do like to try and get the atmosphere going and I admit I can get pretty frustrated on days like Saturday where the whole of block 42 leave us singing by ourselves. Any attempt to get people going is only borne out of passion for the team, and I didn't hear anybody call anybody else a **** (not till that argument kicked off anyway and certainly not "week in week out"). That said, can't speak for the others but I will keep singing but try to tone down the frustration when nobody else in the stand fancies it, as it's clearly not helping.
  22. Same here, except we kept going with OWTS until somebody two rows in front turned round and basically told us to shut up, in the Northam, excellent.
