  1. Brilliant news. Anything on Cork?
  2. Having just read the statement again and the story - I would assume it's because the echo are making out that they have "put up a wall of silence over questions regarding the future of manager Nigel Adkins". So as many others have said are just reminding people that this is nothing out of the ordinary - hence a non-story. End of!
  3. For me The Echo seems to have had a negative agenda where Saints are concerned over the last several years. Even this non-story here. There is nothing new, they have asked a stupid question so have a stupid answer. What did they expect - the club to say, actually you know what. We are thinking things over. Most of their Saints related stories over the last few years seem to always be having a dig at the club. This may be motivated by the clubs lack of communication with them, but it's not going to get anything resolved.
  4. Yeh but it's not always that easy to sign players. There are a hundred reasons why a player doesn't sign. Whether it be the club doesn't want to sell, they don't want to move, or a number of complications down the line. I agree we needed at least an additional left back to what we have/got (absolute minimum), as we seem to have no depth a full back with the current injuries. But it's not always that straight forward though. You can't magic prooven premier league defenders though. Especially not as a newly promoted side.
  5. For me that was the story of that game. First half Jos handled him really well I thought. Then second half he started dropping everytime Jos went near him. Almost as if their manager said to him - if you hit the deck you might get something. That happened and he kept doing it. After that game I have a very low opinion of Carroll!
  6. I think you have to keep him until at least after the QPR game. A couple of wins by then and it will look completely difference. The teams looks like they are lacking confidence! On saturday they fell apart after the first goal. Finally got back into the game and then the 3rd destroyed them again. I think a clean sheet and a couple of wins could get then believing again!
  7. Didn't have much time last night, but downloaded it so I could take a look. Set up my profile as Southampton as my favourite team. But for some reason wouldn't let me select southampton the team I wanted to manage. Anyone had anything similar? When on the team select page it just had the confirm button greyed out for southampton but not any other team. Will take a proper look when I get home tonight, but was just wondering?
  8. I think they are much more likely to say it will be longer than it possibly could be. At least that way there is a chance to catch the opposition off guard? Also that way if there are any complications they don't need to rush him!
  9. They are normally used to cover work secrets. So I would expect contractors to be working under NDAs to cover anything they may here/see and would expect this to be standard practice by most companies where secrets could be given to opposition. So just because a contractor was under NDA doesn't mean something went wrong?
  10. Depends how much it's for though surely? If its £10 million which is covered by payments we are due this year for TV etc...? Could have been for the amount Bolonga wanted for Ramirez up front and this was the most efficient way of handling it?
  11. Yep, and I would hope that by getting a secured loan this would preserve the legacy. But then I'm taking the positive approach of the being a short term thing to over cash flow and will be pretty much paid off by the end of the season. And then based on the fact we wouldn't need to spend a much next year to consolidate further
  12. People saying that if we get relegated then we have already spent the parachute payments may not be correct! If the loan is paid off this season then that's fine. The lender would rather it be secured against something more long term. For instance if you take a loan out for your company and secure it against your house, doesn't mean you're going to sell your house to pay it off. Worse case they have something to fall back on. If indeed we did have to use parachute payments we will also be generating money from player sales. But then as others have said no one knows how much the loan is, it doesn't mean all the parachute money. Could only be £1-£2 million by then. All speculation!
  13. Cortese has stated he wants the club to be self sufficient. I very much doubt we have that much cash floating around until we are given all the Prem payments for this year and next year. So the most likely explanation is it being a birdging loan which will be repaid when we get that money later this year and next year. There has been a lot of payments for players, training ground etc... Personally I wouldn't see this as a worry or a big deal. As others have said assuming the loan isn't huge it's going to be very manageable. Also I can't find this in any big news outlets which would also make me think it's not massive? I would think The Sun would have been all over it over-wise? Thats my thoughts anyway!
  14. Couldn't see this anywhere else, but he just posted this on twitter! Jack Cork ‏@jackcork1 Another 4-6 weeks, with my left knee. Lucks just not going my way this season. Could be worse, but was so close to getting back from the ankle
  15. has everyone that got the music been cut off? i have that now but don't know whether just to hang up or keep with it
  16. The article says you get priroty only if you attend both games? http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2619084,00.html "Saints are offering supporters who attend both forthcoming home matches against Ipswich Town and Barnsley the benefit of a priority booking window to purchase tickets for the last game of the season." So is this incorrect?
  17. Could this be related, just saw it on twitter The Football League @football_league Also being announced at 10am is the final shortlist for the @FootballManager Outstanding Managerial Achievement #FLAwards
  18. Sausage rolls as well! Those mini ones you cook at home in the oven. They are a winner for packed lunches.
  19. After seeing him at Palace I thought that we should have pushed him out on the wing and put De Ridder up front. Forte was playing in the Lambert position, but lacked the touch and wasn't very good at challenging. So the balls that Lambert would be able to hold up and play onto the other striker were missing. At least De Ridder has a solid touch and skill so could of held up the ball and played people in.
  20. I didn't go to the game but hust watched the all angles covered highlights on Saints player... Looked like we rode our luck at times, but they rode theirs more so? Their defending was sloppy at best at times. Our passing game seemed to tear them apart at times. Looking at saints player highlights we deserved 3 points? Of course those highlights are probably bias towards southampton. Also Kelvin had a great game by the looks of it?
  21. I think you're mistaking what I'm saying. My original arguement was if there were injuries to a couple of Goalkeepers, and you have Stockdale as the third choice keeper? I don't think he's ever going to play in a game for England. And it was more if he had gone to West Ham as well. I don't think it is that much of a crazy suggestion. Yes probably too late now. But we seem to have a lack of reliable English Keepers. I think we've always been very lucky to have him in recent years, expecially when we dropped down to League One. Maybe I was a little eager in my original suggestion.
  22. I'm not saying he will. There aren't that many English Keepers in the prem, and if he had gone to West Ham...
  23. Am I the only person who thinks Kelvin Davis is in with the best chance of getting a call up? Look at the last set of keepers: Joe Hart Scott Carson David Stockdale Get an injry or two? Or is that really just a pipe dream? I thought when we were in league 1, if he had gone to West Ham what might have happened.
  24. Do people know for sure what happened in both of these circumstances? Can they be compared like that?
  25. To be honest, if the money is there for it, and it's going to help attract people to the club, and raise the profile of the club. Does it really matter it the money cant be put back into the club? It would still be a great addition to the area around the football ground. And if it makes the Liebherr family some money then they will be more likely to stick with the club? But reading the above article it seems like it would be all ok anyway.
