A cheer you up present from West Ham and the KUMBrigade
Turkish replied to Saint86's topic in The Saints
this. We've not beaten them in 5 attempts now so they are doing something right against us. For all the derision on here of them and their manager they are looking at another comfortable midtable finish. People can say what they like about Allerdyce but he's very effective at getting lesser clubs and teams to finish in comfortable league positions. He's done it repeatedly at Bolton, Blackburn and now West Ham. And before all the helmets start bleating on about him being terrible and would i want him at Saints, the answer is no, but that doesn't mean he's a bad manager, he's decent and effective and you know what you're going to get. -
Calling Pap to the main board......

People won't think 8th is as big an achievement as it was because so, so many were sucked into the champions league ambitions and shoot for the moon talk. Those of us who were more realistic, realised what a massive task it was and we weren't on an unstoppable march to the champions league which started in L1 were called negative trolls at the time. Those that took a more sensible approach were sneered at, what is wrong with dreaming? we were told. Those who pointed out the folly of us not taking the cups seriously as this was our only realistic chance of glory were told we were wrong and any injuries and fatigue from these pointless games would impact on our champions league hopes. Some of us are just fine with a finish around 8-10th, the ones who aren't are the ones who were dreaming of champions league or nothing and worshiping at the temple of a chairman, because he told them what they wanted to hear.

Maybe she's texting MP to tell him what tactical changes to make?

Can't see to much wrong with any of the comments. Couple of salient points in there, dickiesleftpeg 'don't you hate it when teams are effective, and score from their shots on target, instead of blasting every shot into Barking road' and Scotty who said that they keep getting lucky against us. We've only beaten them once in 6 attempts now and everytime all you lot whinge about it being bad luck. Despite being supposedly so terrible and Allerdyce such terrible manager they get something right against us time and time again. So stop whinging and look at our missed chances, failure to do much with 70% possession and 25 shots at goal rather than squinniny about marginal offside decisions and how disgusting it is that teams dare to defend against us and take their chances when they get them. Bunch of saps on here. -
Like man walking on the moon or climbing Everest, yes?

It's difficult to put a figure on it. We're probably 3 players away from being able to challenge the top 4-6 in terms of first XI. Another quality centre back, a quality striker and another attacking midfield player (asuming Ramirez doesn't come good), so you're talking £30-£40m minimum there. Even then though the depth of the squad still wouldn't be there. As capable as the likes of Fonte, Cork, Lambert, JWP, Davis, Gallagher, top 4-6 players who could do the business over a season when required to? You'd have to say no. So it truth although our first XI might only be two or three players short or squad is probably 8-10 players away from it.

It does help, but he claimed that was all that was needed and we wouldnt need to spend.

OH i dont know about that, seen plenty on here. Your very own "we can easily make the champions league, all you need is a good manager and a decent academy" and of course your evidence to support this theory of "didnt they say man would never walk on the moon" being a shining example of this. -
Wes Ender was one of those that claimed that the champions league is possible for Saints and all that was needed was a good manager and a good academy. He seems to have forgotten his claims.
-
That is spot on and to be fair the view of most proper fans. I know a few of the locals round here and also some Spurs fans i know have also have desribed us as "doing it the proper way" For all the plaudits given to MP it should be remembered that the players were here and being taught their technical skills long before he was, he may have got the best out of some of the players at his disposal but the foundations were in place before his arrival.
-
Bigger wasn't it? IIRC this was claimed when we were in championship. The claim we had more match going fans than Everton definitely was, because they averaged 37,000 that season in a 40,000 capacity stadium and we sold out against Bolton in 2002 and we would show how massive we are with the mad scramble for tickets week in week out when we get back in the premier league or something.

okay chumps try this one. Get on the treadmill and do 5 minutes at your normal 10k pace. After the 5 minutes set the incline to 10 and up the pace by 5km per hour. Then jump back on and do 30 seconds, jump off at the end and rest for a minute, repeat for as many times as you can. Did it after my weights session, managed 5 but couldn't quote get a 6th out. Absolute killer, the aim is to get to 8.

You people do realise all it is is some helmet, giving his opinion on a West Ham mongboard? It carries no more weight or means no more than Bexy and his shuddering at West Ham playing in the champions league, Lambert1979 claiming they are more deluded than the skates. Seriously, who cares?

Pochettino would "jump at the chance to manage PSG"
Turkish replied to FleetCasual's topic in The Saints
Cant you? You need to read the thread properly then. Plenty of posts whinning that he didn't actually say that and the journalist is senstationaling the story. Here's another one for you. MP used to play for Argentina, he was born there and would no doubt jump at the chance to manage them. Senastionlist stuff, right? The fact that they wouldn't consider him because he'd play a weakened team in world cup and Copa America qualifiers as he isnt interested in cup competitions would rule him out is irrelevant of course. -

Not exactly a difficult concept nor jouno scoop of the millenium is it. Midtable premier league manager would like to manage former club who are now loaded in the champions league, should such an opporutnity become available. Yet some people seem to want to scream and scream and scream that it's all the nasty journos and papers making up stories again and asking loaded questions. Waaah wahhh He didn't actually say that and i'm going to stamp my feet, put my fingers in my ears and sulk until someone shows me the quote where he did. -

What's even more endearing is that someone who has someone on ignore and who has often lamblasted other posters not to quote the person on ignore, still continues to comment on posts they've made. Aint that right, Les? -

Manager says he would like to manager former club, who are one of the biggest in their country, in the champions league and absolutely loaded, wow, shock. But let's all have a go at the journalist, the paper, dissect every word of the article and interview and pretend it was all made up by those nasty papers and howible, scum bag journos asking loaded questions. Do anything but don't dare admit the the might want a job other than at super, massive, mega club saints. -
That's funny because on MOTD a couple of months back they said if we wanted to sell Lovern he'd be worth at least double what we paid for him. Still what do they know.
-
Not sure he's coming in as CEO is he? I thought we were still interviewing/waiting for the whoever has got it to become available and this Rogers guy appointed for the interim. Isn't Krueger coming in more on the sports development side, ie a similar role to what Les Reed does.

Probably true Jamie.

As I said in my OP on this thread, Osvaldo didn't work out but it was pretty evident what the intention was and this was backed up by Osvaldo being picked ahead of him for big games when both were available. Had Osvaldo been what he was meant I be then lambert would have been a much more peripheral figure this season.
