  1. How about only Clattenburg. We'd be bottom by some distance wouldn't we?
  2. If you look at Chelseas attacking players and what you might presume to be there first XI of Torres, Hazard, Oscar, Eto, Ramires etc how many English players are there in there? How many goals do you expect Terry and Cole to get? Point being, that table is totally pointless and irrelevant.
  3. How would the league look if only goals scored by players with letter S in their name, born in March and scored between the 31st and 74th minutes counted?
  4. So second bottom of the league if only foreign players had scored. Worrying stats those.
  5. As you get better so the pool of talent to improve you decreases. Its much easier to find a Fonte and Lambert than a top hlaf level premier league player at a good price. We are in quite a difficult position now, arguably the toughest for a long time in terms of attacting players to imporve us. To get better than we have for our first XI you are talking about internatonial players who are champions league level and if they're at that level most will want champions league football and wages. So we are operating in to pool below that whereby we have to convince players who wont make the first XI of bigger clubs to come here. IMO we are best of scouting the smaller domesitic leagues like Holland, Beligum and eastern Europe and use the draw of the premier league to upcoming players in those regions rather than chasing marque signings from Italy and Spain who probably dont want to be here but will for the money.
  6. Yep, that's exactly how i see it. c£30m spent on 3 quality players and Osvaldo out for £10-£12m leaving a net spend of £18. Not unreasonable for any midtable club. Lallaland apparently.
  7. Not so sure it's inevitable. The only place that seems to be the case is on here where an internet frenzy has been created that his body language doesn't look right and he doesn't shout enough. Where could he go that's better than here? Real Madrid and Inter linked in the press but why would they want him? Midtable finishes for two middle sized clubs in England and Spain says he hasn't done enough to warrant a move to champions league club in any of the major leagues and the pressure of champions league football has been lifted now Nick Nack has gone. In many ways he is perhaps in a better position now than he was before Cortese left.
  8. a window exactly like last summers will do me just fine. 3 quality players in a striker an attacking midfielder and a centre back and ideally not lose anyone except Osvaldo. Ideally i'd like some decent cover for Boruc or someone better than him or a younger keeper. Cant say i've been too impressed with Gazzaniga. Rumours were we had agreed a deal to sign Aaron Hunt on a free from Werder Bremen so that is perhaps the attacking midfiedler ticked off.
  9. Luke Shaws family are from Kingston and he moved away from home to live in Southampton at 15 If he joined Chelsea he could aruagbly move closer to his family. So the imagine of a lonely 18 year old cuddling his teddy on his own in a big city and pining for his parents isn't quite washing i'm afraid.
  10. Exactly. Several people have said we need a 20 goal a season striker, but the reality is that in the last 5 years i think it's only 9 players who have scored more than 20 in a season. One now plays in Spain and was the world record signing, another now players in Italy, Suarez who was valued at over £40m last summer and they generally play for champions league sides. 10-15 goals a season is not unreasonable amount for a midtbale side striker. We might need a better one to push on, but they dont grow on trees and aren't cheap.
  11. Torres to Chelsea. "LOL" Next please
  12. Ahh thanks for clarifying. When everyone else was talking about Borini you weren't or talking about Liverpool, just someone like him. So it seems you're right. The idea that a champion league club challenging for the title sell a squad player who's been out on loan to a 'rival' midtable club is one of the most ridiculous suggestions in mongboard history isn't it. You're right if NEVER happens. "LOL"
  13. Could see them bidding for Lovren.
  14. Err You did. Post 77 'I doubt we could steal them from a prem rival' What are we rivals to Liverpool for? "LOL"
  15. Yes, why wouldn't they if we offered them a decent fee. What are we rivals to Liverpool for? "LOL"
  16. He's a Liverpool player and won't get first team football regularly there. They loaned him to Sunderland, why wouldn't they sell him to us? "lol"
  17. before the sunderland game we were unbeaten in 8. Since then we've lost 3. Form is all about momentum, we lost it at Sunderland.
  18. has the society of black laywers commented yet?
  19. up there with the suggestion someone made of playing Dan Harding in central midfield in our L1 days, it's that good an idea, probably slightly worse but not by much.
  20. Tuprins not got a mention, the thursday night venue of choice for the discerning early-mid 90's 6th former. We later graduated to Simons Wine Bar, full of mid twenties-fourties ladies which as a 19-20 year old on the pull was a target rich environment. Old Oriental, Jesters, the Pier also worth of honourable mentions.
  21. In the interview I heard yesterday he describes his England performances as fantastic. There is no denying he was a good player in his day I don't remember him being fantastic. I do remember him being made to look like a lumbering cart horse by Salas, Gomes, Ronaldo amongst others on a few occasions. That interview right there is the reason why he was never permanent captain, any player that describes themselves as fantastic and deserved to be England captain for 10 years ahead of some other very good candidates proves exactly why they shouldn't be. Upset and playing the race card because others don't rate him as much as he rates himself.
  22. I have little doubt if and when MP has gone he will go from a genius manager got us playing fantastic football, getting the best out of all of our players and irreplaceable. To being a clueless dago who was not the man to take us to the next level, couldn't get the best out of Ramirez, Clyne, Wanayama, Lambert, out of his depth against teams in the top half, a bit of a one trick pony, no plan b. the new guy will be the best manager we've ever had and the guy to take us to the next level, establish is as a top 6 club etc etc. take about 5 weeks I reckon. Perhaps a bit longer if it happens early in the summer.
  23. If we can improve our form we still have a chance of being part of '7th heaven day' on the last day of the season. With Newcastle away at Liverpool that day it could be a straight winner takes all play off between us and Man United for that glorious 7th spot giving Sky one of its most exciting finish to a premier league season in its history.
  24. I do chuckle at the 'if we had Suarez playing for us we'd be doing better' lines that are trotted out. Every team in the world could say the same if they had one of the best strikers in the world playing for them.
  25. How does he explain rio Ferdinand and Paul Ince also captaining England then? Utter attention seeking nonsense.
