Are the games not played individually then? Are only 2 of them allowed to win? You often get it where all the other teams down there win as well. All of those teams will be looking at those fixtures fancying their chances in those games, as would we. I don't think we'll go down but we really don't want to go into the last game having to win going into it in the form we are in.

It's not just that one defeat though is it, 1 goals in 4 games and no wins. No it's not a magical about turn of form, but we aren't in a good run of it at the moment.

'It doesn't have to be magical' for Newcastle to win at already relegated QPR, Wigan will win at home to Swansea and Villa, Sunderland beat us and Norwich win at home to WBA. All of those results are very possible.

We lost 6-1 at Arsenal then beat Villa 4-1 the following week. Would you say our perormaces levels in those two games were exactly the same or different?

Exactly this, If we'd beaten Sunderland, Wigan and Newcastle instead of Cheslea, Liverpool and Man City we'd be safe by now. Same points for a win, very different look to the table.

If that one point comes against Sunderland then i agree with you, if it comes against Stoke then we are in big trouble, Saturday is not so much a must win as a must not lose, if we do then we are in a lot of trouble.

It's pretty clear that although Sunderland aren't very good and 'down to the bare bones' as some might say, what they do have is plenty of fight and guts. Something that served us so well in the 90s. Still I'm sure people will write them off as a terrible team and a guaranteed three points Saturday.

Except of course we've only taken one point off of those sides so in our games against them this season, so maybe it does need to be magical. Don't tell me, we didnt win those games because that was before we were brilliant and when we had that clueless bumpkin Adkins in charge.

some seemed to think it was impossible for us to go on a bad run, instead thinking we were going to go on an unstoppable romp to a top half finish, we haven't put that sort of form together all season, so not sure whey they felt it was going to happen now. I found the whole thing about people wanting teams below us to beat teams above us very odd and arrogant. The priority this season was alwasy to stay up, then to build next season, that means putting as much distance between the bottom clubs and us as possible. The arrogance that is sweeping the club and fanbase with talk of champions league football and moving to the next level whilst in a relegation battle could make a lot of people look very stupid. of course, any feet on the ground realism is dismissed on here as negativity and trolling.

As i've said for weeks whilst you and your little band of head in the clouders were banging on about how great it is that team below us were beating teams in midtable, lets make ourselves safe first then worry about finishing as high a we can. It seems to have completely escaped some peoples grasps that it is possible for Saints to be caught by the teams below us as well and the gap is closing.

It's embarassing, it really is. We are quick to label other clubs fans as arrogant yet here all the talk is of champions league football, bigger stadiums and man for man most players in the entire league wouldn't get into our side, yet tomorrow night we could only be one point above the relegation zone, you couldn't make it up. If Sunderland, Norwich or Newcastle fans were talking about champions league football everyone would laugh at them. I'm all for ambition but we're not even sure we'll be in the premier league next season FFS.

Surely if Swansea are still catchable the only result we should want is a Wigan win?

Agreed. I went to Egypt 2 years ago in October, just wanted a couple of cheap weeks of sun, didn't rate it at all. Been to Morocco twice, once to Agadir and once to Marrakech, both were in October Novemeber time and rate them, decent places. Weather was decent in Agadir in October, about 28 degrees most days. We went to Marrakech for a week in Nov, great place, but in all honesty you don't need a week there. Best to do it as a two day trip from Agadir so you get the beach resort as well.

We need MLG to appear to remind us why we want a Sunderland win.

What people need to remember is a good team doesn't become a bad one overnight, likewise an average team doesn't become a great one. Whoever the manager is he is only as good as the players on the pitch and MP is doing it with Adkins team, a team which can hold its own in this league when everyone is fit and on form but lacks depth and options outside of our first XI. Talk of top half finishes and this team challenging the top 6 is deluded beyond all belief, we've seen this blind faith that we are paying so much better under MP bu results since he's been here don't bear that out. MP might be the man to take us to the fabled next level, he might not be, we can't really judge yet until he's had the chance to bring in his own players, 14 games is no time to decide if he is a wonder coach or not what he's been billed as. What is certain though is that should the unthinkable happen and we do go down, then replacing Adkins at that time was a catastrophe.

So are you denying you said this side, with no new signings, was good enough to finish 6-9th?

Love it when people resort to insults like this about being insecure and having low self esteem, then at the same time getting all upset because they've been made to look stupid on an anonymous internet forum. utterly brilliant. Making up quotes? Not me sunshine, unless of course you're now denying you said this team was good enough to finish 6-9th with no new signings. Although I'm not sure what sort of a target/finishing position this is now. Is it a realistic one? Is it a 'reach for the stars' aim for 6th and we'll finish 10th, type one? Is it a unrealistic and never going to happen and no one thought it was possible anyway? Maybe you could explain.

On thing is for sure, the divs that were certain wed finish 10th a few weeks back won't admit they were overstating our ability, nor will come out and say that we've had a crap season if we finish, say 15th. If we're targeting 10th then finishing 1/4 of the league below our target position its an abject failure is it not? Or aren't we targeting 10th now as having lost a couple of games its not very realistic so we're settling for lower, or we never thought we'd finish 10th anyway, it was just a 'reach for the moon' target. It's all very confusing this forum target setting.

Anyone and I mean even people with half a dozen brain cells can make up a set of results that may happen in the future to support some argument. As for form guides, I notice there's been no update for a few weeks on your ones since we've not won in four and only scored once, but then im not surprised, not great form for a team that is capable of finishing 6th with no new signings is it and makes your claims look rather foolish.
