Yep, Everton certainly looked like a long ball team as they walked through our midfield and ripped us apart down the flanks time and again on Saturday.
-
Yes do tell. The only thing I saw him say was it was a tough place to go and home games would be key this season. Didn't see anything at all that could be described as negative.

We'll see. Personally I think West Ham have been efficient and effective. People keep saying they've had it easy but you still have to win these games and They've got results against the teams you need to beat to stay up. Theyve not concede many, they look hard to beat. I dont think Arsenal will score 6 against them Saturday for a start. We'll probably have a few Villa games where we score a fair few and win comfortably, but we'll also get a fair few more thrashings if we carry on like we are. Most teams have players that can hurt you and with our defensive set up we are alway liable to concede, which means we might struggle against teams like West Ham who are solid and efficient and also capable of catching us on the break.

Having mocked dull drums I actually want to get into it myself. I always play about 3 times at the start of summer round the time of the first bank holidays and then don't get round to it again for the rest of the year. So any tips on where to get lessons and which is a decent brand of clubs to start with would be welcome.

Dull drums, I think you might be suffering from an early midlife crisis fella. All this wanting to take up new stuff, MMA, Golf, diving. Have you bought a motor bike and starting shaving your chest as well?

If Boruc had played and we'd taken all of our chances we'd have won though. -

Yeah, not quite as hilarious and ingenious as 'turdish' and 'turdman' is it. -

Oh dear he's full of the insults today. But then I would be once I realised how stupid i looked in my plan for success this season depended totally a goal keeper we've never seen play saving every shot and our strikers scoring every chance they get. I think Cul De Sac Saints is more apt. -
I agree, which is why i find the dismissing of West Ham as being far, far better than them and will beat them easily as obsurd and naive. In reality the top three or four are much better than the rest, then there are three or four like Everton & Spurs just behind them, then not much between the rest, all have good players, but all are lacking quality some positions. Which is why i maintain being hard to beat away from home is going to be vital.

because they expected to stroll to the title. if it was easy to go straight back up Blackpool and Birmingham would have done it as well. He did what he had to do and was under huge pressure to do it. We've seen for ourselves in L1 that it's not easy to play with the weight of expectiation on your shoulders. Last season we on the other hand expected midtable and would have taken that at the start of last season so we surprised even ourselves by doing so well all of last season. If we go down and keep all of our players our manager whoever it is will be under similar pressure to take us back up at the first attempt.

What do you base this on, other than Saints tinted glasses?
-
I'd do what it takes to stay up, I'd that means the sacrifice of style over results so be it. There seems to be this great myth that we are a fantatic free flowing team that never go direct and West Ham are long ball merchants. The reality is somewhere in between.

Turdish Yep read it again still looks like you're relying on hoping a goalkeeper most of us have never seen play keeping out two chances and us taking every chance we get. Of course, no other team is capable of taking every chance they get, only Us. Isn't that right Road Saint? -

I'd stick with 4-2-3-1 at home as it worked well against Villa. Away and trying make best use of what we've got I'd got 4-5-1 which becomes 4-3-2-1 when we are attacking. I'd start with Davis and Cork LM and RM playing in a chris Marsden type role with their main job to be to be solid down the flanks and tuck inside to form a solid midfield 3 covering for the full backs when they get forward. Scniiderlin playing in front of the back 4 and Lallana and Ramirez in front of him who will be responsible for closing space down and them linking up with Lambert as an attacking 3 when going forward. Those 3 wil cause most teams problems and good enough to create 2-3 good chances a game minimum. It's then down to us to be solid and not Give away sloppy goals so we don't have to score 4 to win. If everyone is fit then NC, JF, MY, DF as the back 4 JC, MS, SD, GR and AL are the midfield 5, with RL up top, as things stand with injuries and due to a bungled transfer window then I guess we are left with JWP and RC in the midfield roles instead of MS and JC. It's Alright though, we've got 2 strikers worth £10m on the bench who can't get near the team and least we can all blame Danny Fox again. -

Which brings me onto Lallana. Now correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Nige bang on about his new central role during preseason, which lasted about two games before he was back on the wing. Yes I know he drifts in times but essentially we set out with him playing wide left, when we'd prepared all pre season it seemed for him to play in the middle. -
So you can be better, but less effective, yes?
-
Winning away at a relegation rivals and beating midtable sides from last season at home are very good results.
-
No doubt trotting out the premier league is average, expand the stadium, next stop champions league and all of our squad for England lines.
-
What would your view be if we were 6th after 6 games, with 11 points from the same fixtures?
-
They arent dross though are they. I must confess I've only seen fleeting glimpses of them this season but last season they played some really good football at times, at other times they were direct, just like we were.
-
Fulham, Sunderland, Norwich and Swansea all finished midtable last season and Villa and QPR will probably be relegation rivals, you stay up by getting results in games like these, which they are doing.
