  1. I used to work in recruitment, it was hilarious some of the s*** on peoples CV's One guy listed his attributes under his name and address one of theses was "steely blue eyes" another classic i have seen elsewhere was "a self taught, quite fast typist"
  2. lets hope it's not a let down, this is a big test as to how serious we are about going up.
  3. Thats nonsense, . They made a good point of Sky yesterday saying how football has evolved in the last 5 years and smaller more skillful midfielders like the kid at Villa are now getting more of a chance to play when 5 years ago you had these 6ft 5 built like brick s*it out midfielders who would kick them up in the air. It doesn't mean 5 years ago they were a s**t player, it just means the game at the moment is better suited to their style of play. "chopper" harris is a legend at Chelsea but these days he'd be sent off every week and wouldn't last 5 minutes at any top club, again not because he is a bad player but because the game is different now to how it was then. Do you think Ian Rush was a great striker? His record at Liverpool suggest he was, but he couldn't cut it at Juventus, not because he became a bad player, as his second spell at Liverpool proved, but that he was either not suited to Italian football or the way Juventus played. Even Anders Svenson, a superb player for Sweden, won over 100 caps at international level but never consistantly any good in premier league and clearly not suited to English football. Okay the very, very, very best players might be able to play in any country and perform, but the ones below that often struggle, look how many English players have been succesful abroad in the last 30 years, not many. MS is far from even being at this level yet and is still learning the game.
  4. the floor wipers killed me, 50kg barbell doing those was by far the hardest, apart from the pull ups which i have never been any good at.
  5. Time to beat is 18 1/2 minutes!!!
  6. what is it you do?
  7. give this work out a go, absolute killer, did it today (well kind of did) its the circuit they used training for the film the 300. One after the other, no rest between exercises. Pullups - 25 reps Deadlifts with 135 lbs - 50 reps Pushups - 50 reps 24-inch box jumps - 50 reps Floor wipers - 50 reps Single-arm Clean-and-Press with 36 lbs Kettlebell - 50 reps Pullups - 25 reps
  8. I may be wrong but i am pretty sure he was told to sell before he can buy.....
  9. clearly not, but at the end of the day does he sign the cheques and have the final say yes or no?
  10. indeed he did, at home to QPR (i think) in a 5-1 win. Those were in the days when we used to win the first game of the season now and again.
  11. Jason Dodds home debut, a 4-1 against Liverpool, who were champions and a head and shoulders the best team in England. He out a great cross in for the first goal too.
  12. I absolutely agree with all of that. What you cant deny though is that he is a very good manager and has only failed in one place, which by coincidence was at a club with a habit of changing managers every 5 minutes and being tight fisted with transfer fees and wages.
  13. Horse for courses. Some players are just not cut out for English football, especially the lower leagues. Why do you think Veron, one of the best midfielders in the world 10 years ago didn't cut it in England? Likewise Hernan Crespo, Shevchenko, Rebrov, Forlan, the list goes on. MS is a very good footballer, but it doesn't automatically make him cut out for the hussle and bussle of L1.
  14. He may have then, but i am 99% sure it was during the summer before Gray was appointed too. I remember him saying they had a chat over a glass of wine and heard no more about it, at the time i really hoped he got the job.
  15. Didn't a certainly Bradley Wright-Phillips often get himself in those positons too? Only to miss 75% of the time, being in the right position does not make you a class player, you have to finish the job too.
  16. Transfer fees are irrelevant? Ask Roman Abramovic how happy he was to shell out £30m on Andre Shevchenko. Once again i have never heard it in recent years be the case when a manager decided on contracts and wages.
  17. If i remember rightly they met for a chat and he was interested but that was the end of it. Stuart Gray was appointed instead.
  18. But a manager decideds who he wants to buy and sell, then the chairman says yes or no and goes and recruits them. Right or wrong? Any manager will say the squad needs improving, they wouldn't be doing their job properly if they didn't. If he constantly wants more money to improve the squad i dont see the problem, its up to the chairman to be strong and say no. The myth that he bankrupts clubs is simply not true.
  19. Yet look at the rescources they have had. Redknapp has won the FA Cup with a relatively small club like Pompey, got West Ham into Europe and taken Tottenham into the champions league or the old European Cup for the first time in 50 years. Mourinho is one of the best managers in the world no doubt, but has spent hundreds of millions, as has Fergie managing the worlds biggest clubs, you cant compare them. Tottenham are Redknapps biggest club, yet still no where near as Man U, Inter Millan etc. Mourinho spent more on Shevckenko and Carvalho whilst at Chelsea than than Redknapp has since he has been at Spurs. Would they have done as well at Spurs or would Redknapp have done as well as them given their clubs and rescources? Who knows.
  20. Once again, who agrees the fees and wages at a club? Is it the manager or the chairman? 90% of mangers if offered the chance to sign Jermain Defoe/Diarra/Muntari etc is going to take them.
  21. So does the manager decided the wages or is it the chairman and money people?
  22. prefer these
  23. Even if we hadn't have kept them we'd have been able to get a lot more money for them. With both we had to sell, if we'd have stayed up we could have held out for much more. You're though, no other club has produced such players of high quality, just a shame they all had to be sold off.
  24. you going on the train with the twins?
