  1. This is nuts https://www.pressreader.com/uk/the-daily-telegraph/20240405/281513641173194
  2. Yep we will get absolutely murdered if we go up. Conceding 51 goals with players like THB and KWP in the back 4 is unbelievable. We’d concede over 100 if we went up
  3. Congratulations @saint1977 want to take your place in the CoT?
  4. how does conceding a goal in a game you lose by one goal not contribute to losing a game? You're going to have to explain that one The third goal, Player almost on the penalty spot is allowed all day to fall over whilst 4 players stood watching not reacting, nothing to do with dis-organisation. You need to watch the game again as i did notice the other day you said we conceded the 2nd and 3rd goals after Bree got sent off.
  5. I wonder if anyone will quote the fact he's been statistically the worst keeper in the division for the second season running.
  6. Kayla Rendell earns first England senior call-up | Southampton FC Official Site Good news for Kayla here. Surprised no one else mentioned this what with it being the first international call up the Saints ladies has had since it was formed. Big news.
  7. you keep blaming this. Bree was sent off with 5 minutes left plus 7 minutes of injury time. We conceded in the last seconds of that due to our inept defending where a player could miss the ball, fall over in the penalty area and still recover to get a tame shot in whilst 4 players stood there watching. That's was zip all to do with Bree being sent off it was shocking defending. Like the first goal where Bree sliced his clearance then lost his man, shit goalkeeping too. Then there was the second one where an Ipswich player is completely unmarked in the penalty area to score. 3 pieces of U10s defending and 3 goals. You can blame Baz as well as his part in it was shite too but for all three goals the Ipswich players shouldn't even be able to get shots away like they did. Losing had zip all to do with Bree being sent off it had everything to do with poor defending and goalkeeping
  8. So the premier league creates a monster where staying in the league to get the riches on offer is all that matters to a lot of clubs. But by clubs doing what they can to stay so they can at least try and complete they’re going to deduct them points thus relegating them anyway? Meanwhile clubs at the top can do what they want and get away with it. Game is fucked beyond belief.
  9. we have teams in 7th and 8th at home on consecutive Tuesday so surely not even we can screw this up? We play Coventry next week currently in 7th 14 points below us if we win that even if we lose Saturday and they win they’ll be 14 points behind us and they’ll have 5 to play. So we’d then have to lose every game and them win every game to over take us.
  10. It’s a shame Bree is suspended as it’ll mean Walker-Peters will play for sure. It’ll be interesting see after Brees shite clearance then losing his man for the first goal Monday if Martin drops him applying the same logic he did to KWP
  11. Yep, it’s been conceding late goals, soft goals and failing to hold onto leads that are costing us not having another striker who can score 20+ to make a us win games 4-3 if I was manager of a team at any level I’d start by having a competent, solid goalkeeper, in front of them two central defenders whose job it is to defend, put their bodies on the line, get blocks in, tackles mark properly, in front of them a strong holding midfielder, unless they were injured or their form fell off a cliff they’d start every game and then build everything else around them.
  12. Bazunu might improve but at what cost? Are we going to stick with him for a few more years costing points then if when he’s finally good enough flog him, which we know is going to happen. The reality is he’s probably at least 5-6 years away from getting anywhere towards his peak to the point where a top club would want him that can afford to pay what the fee will be. Plus unlike other positions you can only play one goalkeeper soo ok no guarantee even if he is ever good enough anyone would want him. how many more points are we going to drop between now and then? Man City must love dealing with us, with the money they’ve made from us we’ve basically covered Haalands transfer fee.
  13. Just like strikers and centre backs our glovesman recruitment has been absolutely ridiculous for years. Signing Gunn for £10m when we already had Forster and McCarthy. Giving McCarthy a long term contract which made him one of the clubs highest paid players whilst never really being a competent keeper and is now third choice. Signing Lis then loaning him out, signing a keeper who had never played above league one level and expecting him to immediately become a premier league level keeper. Then having back up so bad you have to stick with him despite him being not up to the job, it’s an utter shambles when you look at it. How hard is it to pickup a fairly experienced and competent goal custodian that might make the odd point winning save?
  14. No
  15. A real statement of intent!
  16. Our form has been pretty poor of late w5 d1 l4 last 10 games. Over a 46 game season 73 points so might just about have made play offs. Right at the time when we should be kicking on with everyone fully onboard with Russball it all seems to have fallen off a cliff. Blackburn need a win so will be well up for it. Expect the usual script lots of the ball, concede a soft goal well score probably be a draw
  17. It was November last season too, so it's 17 months since that save, in a game we lost 3-1 anyway.
  18. shame we conceded 3 others in that half and lost the game. As others have said, what points has he won us? Genuinely cant think of any. Dont they say a good keeper is worth 12-15 points a season? He's costing us that.
  19. there seems to be some very good deals available at the moment. We've just booked two weeks in Mexico last week of may first week of June and got 25% off. Plenty of other good deals on the TUI website too.
  20. great to see the under resourced police force are using their time wisely
  21. Unlike other shit players we've had where we can frantically post "he clearly has talent, remember that *Insert one off moment or quality in their time here*"(see Ramirez Villa game, Maras pass against Leeds) We cant really do that with Baz can we.
  22. Yes I get that I don’t hate it, the idea of nice but the reality is it won’t work. Team that win things don’t concede many, we do.
  23. Really? When it works it’s great. The second goal yesterday was excellent. At times this season we’ve played the glorious stuff. First halves v Leeds and Swansea for example. The problem with it is that when it doesn’t work we look terrible. We’ve very easy to play against, we concede far too many goal, Many of them avoidable and we stick to it rigidly whatever which is costing us points. this is the problem with a philosophy. On paper it’s great, when you’ve got the worlds greatest players doing it usually against inferior players and you’re regularly playing clubs with a budget 1/5 of yours then it’s a lot easier to implement, when you’ve championship level players playing in a combative league it’s much much harder to make it work. I don’t mind Russball if I was a neutral but as a Saints fan it’s not going to win us promotion.
  24. Possibly due to the goal came from Baz lumping it straight though to their goalkeeper with 30 seconds left. They scored from that.
  25. The fact that a club like Man United want him proves what a success he’s been. We have an identity and a philosophy we might not achieve the clubs aim of automatic promotion but not all failure is bad you sad fucks.
