  1. Or reason to think that he knows what he is doing and can spot a good player maybe?
  2. what's the point of this thread? There have been some really funny, clever and original ideas and also some really sh*t ones but we all know it'll be "theres only one Gully" something equally as lame. Anything slightly contrversial will have the PC brigade out and anything that requires a knowing more than two lines outside of the standard repetoire will be sung and clapped so quickly it'll sound sh*t.
  3. to the tune of Doe a deer from Sound of Music Gully, Guly, Gully, Gully, GUlly His name means bum f*ck in the urban dictionary....
  4. Because he wasnt good enough, prehaps?
  5. Kevin Phillips we also released as a youngster. Jelle Van Damme, Maik Taylor, Andy Townsend.
  6. nah mate, it's Papa Waigo, better than them all.
  7. In the the league they did yes, Barnard 9 in 15 and Connolly 7 in 10. I dont give a stuff about the JPT stats as i said earlier scoring goals againat Torquay doesn't make you a L1 star.
  8. Err Shearer, Mark Wright, Gareth Bale, Theo Walcott, Kevin Phillips, Dennis Wise, Martin Craine, Matthew Mills, Tim Flowers, Jeff Kenna, want me to go on???
  9. Exactly my point, two goals against Torquay does not make you a star. Connolly, Barnard and Lambert all have a better goals to starts ratio than Waigo, hence why he was 4th choice striker.
  10. I must have misseds all these games where he was amazing and all these goals and assists.
  11. THe most talented player we've ever let go?!! Are you sure???
  12. Why would you suppose that? I think Lallana is very good on the left and also good down the middle, he interchanged very well with Puncheon last season so i would stick with that if we are to persist with 4-4-2. Personaly i am a big fan of 4-3-3/4-5-1 and think 4-4-2 is dated, i posted this a couple of weeks ago on another thread. I still prefer Puncheon on the right of a 5 ahead of Waigo.
  13. No i haven't, because i went to most Saints game last season and know what i saw. Dont need to arse around tapping away at my keyboard to try and prove a point, i can do that having seen him play most of last season and actually knowing a decent player when i see one.
  14. IMO opinion he technically wasn't better than nearly all our players. No intellegence at all, always offside, not a great first touch, an average finisher, poor in the air but what he was was fairly quick and unpredictable, and he ran around a lot (which is some peoples eyes all a player has to do to be brilliant) therefore a great option to come off the bench. And it is nonsense because you are using Pardew not using an average player when better was available as a stick to beat him with comparing it to keeping two top players like Tevez and Mascarano on the bench and picking Mullins. That in ability terms would be like picking Waigo ahead of Lambert.
  15. An absolutely spot on assesment of him, IMO of course. I didn't mind him as a squad player but no more than that.
  16. Oh right must be only me that thought our best form last season was after January, you know the run which if it had lasted the season would have been champions form. Which by coincidence was also when Papa was no more than a squad player. So who would you pick ahead of in our best 11, Lambert prehaps, or Connolly, Barnard, or how about leaving Lallana out for him, Puncheon maybe? Or last season he could have been picked ahead of our other world beater who is no longer here Antonio, but no, 99% of fans prefered Antonio and would still have him back given the choice of the two. I know some of you loved to romantisise about past players, but Papa was not good enough for first 11, not after January and not now.
  17. THis is utter nonsense, The simple fact is Waigo was not good enough to be in our starting 11 when everyone was available. He was okay, not great, unpredictable and had his best games when coming of the bench to offer something a bit different. To say he was messed about is ridiculous. It's only now he has gone people are remising about how great he was supposed to have been and his goal against Torquay which got us through in the first round of the JPT.
  18. I know what you are saying about if you aint done anything wrong etc but i was sitting in the Kingsland north on saturday, minding my own business and not causing any trouble with no camera aimed at me, but it did annoy me that there was a copper stood there filming for ages. Some people did get a bit to annoyed and started to remostrate with the police which is just plain silly in my eyes as all they will achieve is getting nicked or ejected, but it was antagonising a lot of people. I dont know or care why the police felt the need to film for so long, although i guess its part of the Echo sponsored crack down on our supposed hooligan element, but it was but it was provoking the crowd and winding people up, which is surely not what they are there to do.
  19. Strachan used to do the same, i remember reading when we signed Prutton that they had a 'comittee' of 6, they all agreed on Prutton. Not sure who was on it though. Seems a great idea to have a few opinions.
  20. So did Papa and Antonio, you know, the players you were so desperate for us to sign perform to a misleading level? Just as well we didn't get them then as they must have had 'Saganowski Syndrome'. Thank f*ck for that.
  21. Isn't every signing? So least season he played in a team that was playing the league above our level, albeit in a foreign country, and that team was promoted, so to top flight, so it's a bit like us signing Kevin Nolan. How has Dicksons signing not worked out, after TWO games?
  22. It's not hard to understand you being underwhelmed, not hard at all. Who where you expecting? Who would have made you all warm and glowing?
  23. Such as? We tried to get Bailey and Danns and failed. Weren't you clamouring for the return of Papa a while back? he was a local lad wasn't he. You've got one of the signings you were depserate for, surely you must have raised a tiny little grin when you saw it announced?
  24. You're right, they probably didn't do any research on him, just looked on Champ manager and picked anyone who was available. Fact is not every signing does work out, Veron, Crespo, Schevhenko etc, who'd have thought that when they signed. So why gamble £1m on someone that might not, when you can get them for minimal outlay have a look at them, them look at us and assuming all goes well get a permenant deal. Do you not agree or should we just sign him for the sake of it? If it doesn't work out f*ck it, we are rich, it's only a £1m quid.
  25. Why? Surely this is ideal. What appears to be a decent player here who wants to prove himself, if he is good he is ours, if he turns out to be sh*te we send him back and not lumbered with big wages and spent a large fee on someone who aint up to it, how can the way this deal is structured be anything other than a good thing?
