It was great to see Saints actually win something, usually we are plucky losers in games like that. Although it was a great day out i do remember at the time feeling a little bit dissappointed it was such a one sided game with a comfortable win. The fact that there were only about 15,000 Carlise fans there, a win for us was never really in doubt once we scored meant it didnt really feel like a cup final during the game. Carlise had beaten Leeds in the semi final and whilst i was pleased we were playing Carlise as i knew barring a massive upset we'd win, it would have been a much better final had we played Leeds. Better game, better atmosphere and more of an achievement to win it.

Not sure about that but i always thought he was a bit unlucky. Got injured on his debut and was out for a while so never really got up to speed in his first season, then Koeman went and it was clear Puel didn't fancy him in his system. I dont think he was as bad as people remember especially considering he was cheap. Juanmi, signed the same summer i think for £5m so only £1m less, never played. Sold.

Fonte was a brilliant signing. He was quality in the lower leagues and whilst in the premier league he was pretty much always the second best in the central defensive partnership he was the leader at the back every team needs. We've never replaced him.

I don’t think Claise was as bad as made out. He wasn’t great by any means but he only cost £6m and did play 22 of our 38 league the season we can sixth. Carillo has to be ahead of Tall Paul at the moment. TP looks shite but it’s early day. Carillo was awful. Our record signing played about 8 times did nothing and we had to pay him to leave. It’s going to take some going to beat that, but he’s got a chance.

yeah i liked them too, a bit different. the plain red with shoulder flashes was the centenary kit. For all the talk about stripes being saints tradition if you were born in the seventies and got into football in the 80s Saints didn't have stripes at all. First kit i remember was the keegan, red and white, then the plain red with white and black shoulders, then i think it was the hummel Denmark kit, so for the first 10 year of being a saints fan we never wore stripes.
