I think you are right, we’ve lacked a leader at the back for a long time. Stephens with Fonte or similar could have been a good pair, I don’t see any of our current defenders or keepers as the leader/organiser every defence needs.

Looking at the business they’ve done this season you wonder if free transfers between top clubs are going to be more and more a thing. Ramos, Donnarumma, Winjaldum and now messi all for free. Rumours that Pogba will join them next year when he’s out of contract too.

Hilarious. What I mean is I’m only going to watch saints, who the opposition is makes no odds. In fact games against big clubs are usually hideous. We usually lose, on the wrong end of refs decisions and have cocky away fans giving it large with them often in the home areas. So whilst it’s nice to beat them now and again and the semi final at anfield was one of the best nights I’m not really a big fan of plucky little saints upsetting the odds now and again. Id certainly rather we won against Sheffield Wednesday than lost against Liverpool. You also don’t get any more points for beating a big club
