only one of our last six.
  2. This is exactly the sort of game to stick money on Newcastle. As you say we’ve been here so many times when either we blow it or an injury or decision screws us.

    Coronavirus

Apparently the PGA and golf England have a meeting with the government tomorrow, hopefully they will see sense and allow clubs to stay open. My club has lost a fortune this year and there is such a small risk of playing golf it’s crazy. Apparently over 200k have signed the petition to keep them open. the CrossFit gym I go to couldn’t be safer either. Everyone has to temperate Check And sanitise when they go in, we have own stations all marked with all equipment in and maximum class of 10, despite capacity for 25. Afterwards everyone santisizes everything in their station. We’ve had zero infections.
  4. Yes you are right 81/82. another season where we could have won something but just fell short 88/89 we started on fire and were brilliant. Then we went on that long winless run something like 19 games before finishing strongly. Also that was the season that arsenal scored an equaliser in the 8th minute of injury time, time added on due to Paul Davis breaking glen Cockrills jaw with a snide off the ball punch. Arsenal would go on to win the league on goal difference.
  5. Why are you surprised? The best comment has to be how Ralph got it wrong today incredible post. 🤣

    Coronavirus

Apparently Sheffield Hallam Uni have done a study on the risk of catching Covid in gyms. There have been just 487 infections reported in 62 million gym visits across 14 European countries studied, an infection rate of just 0.78 per 100k. Given the push they had on healthy living and getting exercise as fitness and weight loss can help to combat the virus not to mention the positive impact exercise has on mental health it's crazy they are now shutting gyms, golf clubs etc. It seems like they are one of the safest places to be as well as doing what the government told us all to do only a few months ago.
  7. We were top for a long time in 1980/81 season (may have been 81/82) then with about 12 games to go our form drop off massively and we ended up finishing about 6th.

Ings didn’t look good. Scan tomorrow.
  9. Has he now overtaken Matty as our top free kick scorer?
  10. Great post as always Krakers. Personally I think the 5 sub rule apply to the top 6 and the rest should stay at 3. That was I get to see 16 amazing players and take photos of them when they are near me during games, not just 14. It’s an honour to see these players and it will also help our fantasy team scores
  11. I support the big clubs. Even though they’ve got the best players, best squads and most income they are the only clubs affected by injuries so we should change the rules to whatever helps them the most.
  12. We have some interesting fans.
  13. As I see it too. The only thing he is lacking is that bit of instinct in front of goal that top strikers have. he’s seems to either hit it as hard as he can or take one touch too many, a bit too long, whereas a really top striker knows when to place it, smash it, take a touch etc instinctively. However the rest of his game has really come on in the last 12 months, strong, quick, good touch, movement a great partner for Ings and looks a really good player now.
  14. Looks like it didn’t take long to find a black man who feels superior due to skin colour https://wwos.nine.com.au/cricket/ben-stokes-marlon-samuels-spat-wife-slur-covid-19-isolation/6d139602-3cdf-4757-9924-5d72e17ca8f6?ocid=Social-WWOS
  15. David James made these comments a few months ago and he’s right. Good to see, apart from his saves in 2010 I’ve always quite liked him, although can’t remember too many top managers having been goalkeepers. https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/david-james-goalkeeper-manager-diversity-football-a9607296.html
  16. Certainly if you look at the England squad from 10 years ago there were 9 black players in there. With these former players now management age I don’t look at the likes of Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole, Emile Heskey and Shaun Wright Phillips and think if they were white we’d be looking at the new Alf Ramsey
  17. Why would they be put off? They know that their players at clubs they work for will have a high percentage of people of the same colour as them. Maybe they just don’t want to go into management? Maybe they’d rather do what David James, Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Cole have done and go into media rather than put themselves through what a manager has to go through. certainly being black didn’t stop Chris Houghton, Paul Ince or Darren Moore getting premier league jobs despite all being fairly average managers. I don’t buy that a top sportsman, super confident, super competitive who has been at the top of their profession suddenly becomes a wet lettuce terrified of being in a minority when it comes to becoming a coach or manager.
  18. Sorry but this talk that black people don’t apply for jobs when the work force is mainly white is either utter b0llocks or the people you’re talking about need to have a word with themselves. The population of the UK is something like 86% white so if they’re frightened at the thought of having to work with more white people than black then they will never apply for a job anywhere. In addition to this as has already been pointed out a lot of the clamour for a more diverse work force is for top jobs, you’re not really going to command much respect leading a work force if you’re the type of person who’s so frightened that they might be minority group in a company they wouldn’t even apply to it unless they insisted a percentage of the work force were the same as yours. it sounds more like another excuse from the virtue signallers to me.
  19. Fair enough, I maybe wrongly assumed people would have a bit more self respect than to be happy to take a job Because they met a companies quota rather than them both being the best fit for each other needs and ambitions
  20. True. I don’t see many black or Asian road crew workers when driving down the motorway, don’t see many that are bricklayers or hod carriers either. Surely we should be doing all we can to encourage these ladies gents and non binaries that these jobs keep the country going and are even more important than prestigious company director jobs.
  21. Hassenhuttl is for me the best fit. I like everything about him, tactics, recruitment policy, loyalty, and of course those all important interviews which did for Puel from day one. Genuinely wouldn’t swap him for anyone. At the moment he seems great for us good enough to give us top 10 finishes but not the profile a club significantly better than us would want. That may change but as things stand none of the top clubs would be banging his door down if they needed someone i don’t particularly like Klopp but it can’t be denied he’s a great manager, also Guaridiola I do like him and think is a great manager and I don’t agree with this they need hundreds of millions to spend. That’s like saying messi isn’t world class because he hasn’t done it on a Tuesday night in stoke. Consistently delivering at a very top level takes a level of ability, plenty of managers have not made the step up and spent Tens of millions. Bielsa is obviously a great manager an character too and despite the hatred of Rodgers I’ve always liked the way he does things and would be a good fit for us. the rest not fussed on, Chris wilder got a lot of plaudits this time last year and seemed to think he was the dogs bol1ocks but looks like he may be the new Ian Holloway
  22. Talking of furious your wife would be absolutely livid with you if she caught you posting on here after you promised her you never would again. Guess this place matters more to you than her.

    Sam McQueen

I seem to remember him starting at the San Siro as well and playing very well. He seemed to have a lot of potential. Such a shame for a young lad to have that sort of injury especially so early in his career
  24. Okay let’s compare the two scenarios the first is a completely made up incident in your head or scenario two a real incident where someone who has continually told us all how opposed they are to racism has the chance to pull someone up on racism but decides against it as they’re worried about being the first person in modern history to have their career hindered by calling out a racist. i guess it really isn’t that important to you
