Our negotiating position is stronger with two candidates.The position is Emery's to take or leave but he knows that Koeman is once more a contender if for whatever reason he procrastinates. I'm still of the opinion Emery will take it.

Exactly. So they have more ambition if he goes there. He would effectively be saying they will invest more in the team than us and have a better chance of success. Its probably media drivel and Twitter speculation but IF he did go to Everton there would be no other way of dressing it up than very bad news for Saints. We lose people to top clubs, not Everton.

If (big if) Koeman went to Everton its a big blow because he will be deciding their ambition is more exciting than ours. He will know the facts of both, what he would be joining and leaving and would have consciously decided they are a better bet than us. That would hurt. Spurs were clearly more attractive than us. Everton less so.

Went to see Sussex batter Somerset last night. Sussex look a really well balanced T20 team with a genuine quick in Tymal Mills, easily the quickest bowler I have seen live. They will take some beating I think.

Like Spurs did with Pochettino? Not sure it makes much of a difference really. Informal talks happen all the time. If Koeman decided he wanted to join Everton then I'm sure he would end up there. He probably won't. But he could. Just like Pochettino resigned to join Spurs.

Lets hope not. Otherwise the "we were so relaxed we didn't even bother having a maeeting about the Koeman to Everton talk" thing will look absurd. FWIW I don't think he will leave this summer. But I do think we will do well to get him to sign a new deal. Everything is in his interests to be a free agent next summer and see what jobs are available. The next 10 days will be key as Everton will want a Manager sorted and if RK doesn't sign a new deal with us soon following talks taking place then will he ever?

Koeman was in St Barths. Of course the most recent De Telegraaf story (they are usually quite well connected) could be a way for Koeman to pressurise Saints into a better deal. Especially as he recently changed Agent.

Mirror saying Everton expect "positive developments" now Koeman is back from holiday. Hopefully not and hopefully he signs for us but if they will literally double his pay overnight that would be hard (stupid even?) to resist. Everton forum now thinks Koeman would be underwhelming and want Unai Emery.

Respectfully disagree. Especially when you see people suggesting the likes of Redmond, Sisto and Townsend as replacements. Mane has scored probably about as many goals this season as those have in their whole top league careers. The reason Mane would go for £40m is because players of his attributes, potential, versatility and goal ratio sre quite hard to find. We would be replacing with most likely an unproven player and usually you wouldn't want to do that with your key attacking player. I would be happy to keep another season even if we then got a lower fee because he is such a key player and from a fan perspective someone who entertains.
