  1. No way an established keeper would come here now. Will either be a better than Gazza upcoming youngster or an old timer looking for a final payday.
  2. Ive seen the U21 highlights. Most of the players are 16-18. Its hardly anything to judge on. He needs proper mens football and to get some confidence because he was awful when he played last year. Utterly awful. Nobody can dispute that. I was at the Brighton game pre season and Davis cocked up there out of nowhere. He doesnt look the right athletic shape to play PL football. In football terms, giving him a 3 year contract AFTER he was dropped from the team, was a strange one.
  3. Would happen again this season. Especially with Gazza. Wasnt his save percentage something like 25% versus most PL keepers in the 70's? It was probably the biggest factor in our poorest form last season, would be amazed if its not resolved for this year. Madness.
  4. Truth is nobody knows. Anyone who does is pretending to. The injury he had was very serious and he seems to be making great progress. October would be great, but main thing is that its the right time for him.
  5. We are. We have one excellent. One poor and one awful.
  6. If Davis and Gazza are the backup again this season then its a pretty poor show. We would be lucky to win a league game with either playing - as proven last season. Worst thing is Im not even sure which of them I would prefer to play. Kelvin seems like the answer, but then he is just too old to be expected to come in and perform at a level he struggled at during his goalkeeping peak. Gazza needs to be loaned out and we need another keeper to be no 2. Bottom line is the club did well getting Forster but have created a situation whereby it will be hard to get another keeper in of a good enough standard as a no 2. Gazza hasnt kicked on as expected and is quite frankly an embarassment at PL level. Have to look hard to find a PL side with a poorer set of backup keepers. Plenty of Championship teams have a no 2 that is more capable now than a 38 year old Davis.
  7. It will never be a nightmare for him. He has been slagged off by Saints fans before and then demonstrated why he is a top man and a great player. He knows he won't start loads of games but he will make an impact. Im sure he isnt in the least bit bothered by Twitter. He has already had a fairytale career and good on him.
  8. Looks like the exit counter may stay on 6, which was about what many predicted.
  9. Loads of the best posters no longer post and you can see why, judging by this thread..
  10. Absolutely not. Rhodes gets goals but his allround game and movement isn't PL class and he certainly wouldnt fit our style. There is a reason no PL team has gone for him despite an excellent record at that level for 3 years.
  11. They are getting a chance in the U21s. If they were good enough they would have had a chance at Senior level. Townsend miles better than either of them FFS.
  12. This is all rather tiresome. However Boruc does have a point, by saying Forster is no1 it isnt competition. But his reaction is poor. Im sure the club wouldnt stand in his way if something came up for him, and this could all be handled behind the scenes.
  13. We will almost certainly field a changed side - every team does. To a certain extent you can understand why, as otherwise whats the point of the squad. If they never play then when called upon how cna anyone expect them to be sharp? We will probably rest 7 or 8 players, but still will have a strong side.
  14. No but when I asked an Italian journalist about him he said he is a gritty, versatile wide midfielder who is more defensive minded than attacking.
  15. Townsend is a genuine winger, which is what we are looking for. He isn't perfect, because if he was he wouldnt be linked with a team like Saints. But, he does run at defenders, as of halfway through last season his dribbles per game average was the highest in the league and he completed 66% of them, which isn't bad. He had also had the second most shots in the league (behind Suarez). His conversion rate of course wasn't particularly good, but he gets in decent positions and backs himself. He isnt a superb player, but would add some direct running to our team which we miss without Jay Rod and have nobody else capable of it. Despite what anyone says, for me he would enhance our team, to do well you need all types. We have lots of very tidy passers who are great on the ball, but never go past a man. Townsend would be a different option, and of those we have been linked with in that position, is the best IMO.
  16. Redmond had better start producing something soon then. I have only seen him consistently play well in age group football, ie Eng U20s or 21s. At senior level he is far too inconsistent and not really a goal threat, whereas Townsend, although lacking refinement, certainly does trouble teams, and physically is more imposing too.
  17. Clyne is an excellent right back, so lets just leave him where he is. Playing as a wide forward in a 4-3-3 is very different to being a defender who gets forward.
  18. We arent signing another centre back and he is miles out of our league, apart from that it sounds great.
  19. Already worth considerably more than the £16m we sold him for.
  20. Sounds like he has barely trained over the summer. Be interesting to see if he features in the Millwall squad.
  21. Just feel Richardson could cover the whole width of the pitch better in the front sweeper role. Also Seaborne is no longer at the club, joined Partick Thistle last week for an undisclosed fee.
  22. I would bring Richardson in as a front sweeper. Otherwise the same.
  23. I think he will push Hooiveld for the 4th CB spot.
  24. I think he will push Hooiveld for the 4th CB spot.
  25. Their Gaffer indicates its now unlikely they will get him: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28837356
