Agree. Would be pretty pointless buying Forster and then letting Boruc go. Need two keepers who are reliable enough. Look at Elliott for Newcastle, had a cracking game against us, no chance of Gazza or Davis doing the same. If either Gazza, or Davis is second choice keeper, or Hooiveld third or fourth chocie CB at the end of the window then we have failed IMO.

In the Newcastle game he messed up conceding a goal. In the Spurs game he scored on OG and was generally awful. Arsenal game he was ok. Two big errors in three games isnt a great recipe for success, and neither is winning 5 out of 23 the season before.

Why when assessing signings would you take out free transfers? Last time I checked they count as signings?

We were "fine" last season because of the few games Fonte and Lovren missed. If you want a scare, check out our league record last year when Hooiveld played... Its a crucial position and if we only bring in one then we are setting ourselves up to fail, not like we don't have the cash.

You also missed out Davis who could get three or four. The key is obviously Pelle, and really, first season in the PL 10 or so goals would be a good return, but unless we substantially improve our striker pool, we will need him to get more.

We scored 54 league goals last year, joint 8th highest in the league with Swansea. Aside from WBA (43) all the teams in places 13th or lower scored less than 40 goals. Stoke in 9th got 45 and Newcastle in 10th got 43. If you say that to have a decent enough season around 45 goals will be needed (we arent setup to play defensively like a WH or Palace so will likely need to score a few more) then where do we see these coming from? Who will need to step up versus previous seasons and what do we need Pelle, Tadic, Ramirez etc to get to avoid trouble?

That Celtic fan on here the other day said Forster's distribution is even worse than Boruc which worried me, seeing as that is the only real weakness in Boruc's game.

Solent said Bournemouth and Pompey forums arranged easily but suprise suprise ours proving more difficult. Blackmore said he has more discussions with Saints this week... If the Board, whose main point was that they would communicate well and honestly, end up bottling this then it would be more lies.

Could find a better, younger player than Samaras, wanting less money fairly easily you would think. Hopefully its tabloid crap because it would be a poor signing, symbolic of a board with no clear plan or transfer policy.

Central defence is painfully weak at the moment. Suprised we still havent replaced Lovren as its about 2 months now since it became clear he was going. Prediction: We need 2 centre backs but will get one. Hooiveld will be 4th choice instead of sent elsewhere and in the 7 or 8 league games he plays we will win once. Like last year. Could be the same thread re strikers tbh.

Could just be a Remy situation though. End of the day a player moves where he wants. All looking ahead of course. Good to have another body in for this season.

We can only work on one deal at a time so if we get three it won't be before Friday or Saturday.

If he is very good I imagine we would have competition. Looks a decent player, be interesting to see where he fits in.
