Could it be that the Board are actually not fussed about selling the existing players as many are still tied to the Cortese reign and are trying to bring about a fresh start where players loyalty is to the new board? Some of our players would most likely never be fans of the new setup because they were sold the 'dream' (rightly or wrongly) by Cortese. By getting rid and banking a load of cash they can build a squad that largely didnt know what it used to be like at Saints, have no loyalty to the old setup, and therefore perhaps are more motivated going forward and would be happier to operate to the goals of the new regime rather than the existing players settling for less? Also no coincidence that the ones out the door, Shaw aside, will be on big money, which perhaps won't be on offer anymore. Can see from the club's perspective how they might feel that getting rid of the players most closely linked to the old setup could bring about a fresh start, otherwise they might never be truely accepted by the players. Might be rubbish, just trying to rationalise things (if that is even possible). Wouldnt mind betting that within a year, many of the players that were the face of Saints in the Cortese era will no longer be here (either sold or will refuse to sign new contracts and then will be sold).

Lambert, Shaw and Lallana all virtually gone aside from some admin.

We all know he is going. But 25m not enough considering the Bmth clause which leaves us with under 20m, a crazy figure for our Captain, on long contract and off the back of being voted by fellow pros onto the POTY shortlist. Lets at least stand up for ourselves on this one and not be bullied again by Liverpool.

Hopefully its got the reliability of Crook's usual stuff. Gross FFS!

Deal will be done, negotiating at the min and eventually they will come to an agreement.
-
No. It means £2m up front with the further £2m in installments (as is normal with transfers). The add ons are obviously not guarenteed and are paid dependent upon the clauses inserted being reached, ie apps threshold etc.
-
Also interesting that the apart from Shaw none of our players have commented on Social Media about Poch leaving.
-
Its the domino effect. The more that go, the more it pushes others to want to go. Staplewood on first day back for pre season will be in an awful mood.
-
Oscar Garcia I reckon.
-
He was firmly in the anti Cortese camp so he can hardly slag this lot too?
-
Kit sounds like it will be another **** up. We can't even get business as usual tasks done properly.
-
He is the mystery man in all of it. Someone who knows Saints too, has seen both regimes and is CEO ie top dog yet gets no flak. Lots of questions should be fired his way, including whether he agrees with Hofsetter that the financial situation that he owned as CFO really is/was "difficult".
-
BTW what the **** was he doing going to Wycombe to watch that U19 England game yesterday? Absolutely nothing to be gained by him being there, not when there is so much more he could be doing.
-
Ralphy on a hiding to nothing. Who is actually making the decisions at Southampton Saints?
-
We will end up loaning him out to Italy every season til his contract is up.
-
FFS how many times. They will communicate when there is something to say, like that they want money from us.
-
If we lose players like Fonte and Cork then we really are ****ed
-
Doubt they will be so keen to commit now. I wouldnt be signing anything until I saw what the situation was like in September.
-
Would be a coup if we can get Danny Graham.
-
He is going to Liverpool though?
-
Sadly I think the players no longer have much faith in the club and nobody is overly settled.
-
The fact his and Yakin's agents have already been touting their clients, just shows the draw of the PL. If we don't appoint someone half decent it really will crown this shambles as a meltdown.
-
IMO he just doesn't have knowledge of enough leadership models to be suitable for the role. Also - get Reed doing the talking on football matters.

Brighton have rejected a higher bid for their striker Leonardo Ulloa than the one we accepted for Lambert.
