Of course you know this, but MP was actually somewhat of an exception in that he worked long hours at the training ground. He certainly has a good work ethic. For a PL Manager to not spend much time at the training ground is frankly, ludicrous.

For a club without huge financial problems/administration then yes, it must be. Especially at PL level. Ultimately, it shows that we actually had a number of excellent players, and then with just two or three more, we could have challenged ourselves for at least 5th/6th next season.

If players are clearly going, then why wait until after the WC - values won't change drastically. Might as well get the deals done, move on and give our new Manager proper time to shape a squad that can actually compete at PL level. No point delaying the invitable.

Sorry, but anyone who thinks we will emerge stronger from this window is barking mad. Its damage limitation already. In isoloation the sale of Lambert, or Shaw etc isnt too bad, but all at once it rips the heart out of the squad, dressing room and club. Players who have grown with Saints over the last few years will be gone, and we will end up with too much change for it to be healthy. Good window now would be having a decent manager, only losing 4 or 5 of our best players and getting about 7 or 8 good players in. Can't see us signing 7 or 8 that are all good first team players.

Borini not a goalscorer (pens aside). Would have been an ok signing to compliment what we have, but not as a replacement for our main striker. Besides - I hope we sign players we actually want, rather than makeweights or cast offs that other teams are desparate to include in deals with us.

Leta be honest. No Manager at the top of his game will be interested, the likes of de Boer etc. They might have with our full squad, but whoever comes in starts off at a disadvantage from the off, a ****ed off fanbase, a squad whose heart has been ripped out. Probably a few others who are trying to engineer moves away. For this reason we will get someone who is just grateful to be given a chance in the PL. They may turn out good, but IMO it won't be someone who is a proven high calibre Manager. At least not in my definition.

On the first point it will end up 4 or 5 minimum. And your second point isnt true. We have been in negotiations since at the latest the Monday after the Utd game, but probably before then. New Manager will most likely be told that a few are effectively gone and won't have a real say in it. Some of these deals are too far down the line now.

For the ones that are obviously going we might as well get it done quickly so we can start getting replacements.

What would he gain coming here? He will be wanting to boost his rep not struggle at a team full of ****ed off players who have seen their best teammates leave and grumpy fans. A better job will come his way.
