He was terrible vs Newcastle, we had two clear pens not given. Remember Toure taking out Jay Rod vs City?

Sadly, Martin Atkinson is the ref at the weekend. Im not sure there are really any "good refs" anymore but if they are all bad then Atkinson is the worst of a bad bunch. Already had a couple of shockers at SMS this season.

I would try and bring in a "no 1" CB and then get rid of Hooiveld. Perhaps Fonte too if we could find another CB better than him. Clearly central defence is our weakest position.

Not seen enough of Lens to decide. Sinclair more proven in the Prem and is also 'homegrown.

There is a point to sign a LB to sit on the bench. If Shaw was out ofr say 3 months at one point Fox isn't good enough to cover. Its a myth you can't sign players to be squad players - if they are better than the current squad player, ie Fox, then why not? Same with Richardson. I would look to bring in someone better than him. Agree with much of what you say. Personally for me: 1. GK or Boruc 2. Player to play in the attacking mid 3 ie Coutinho type. 3. Top CB 3. Cover full backs for both sides 4. Striker 5. Young developing central midfielder

This - plus, as with the Lallana injury, as soon as we have two injuries to the attacking 4 our depth is terrible and the likes of Guly and De Ridder have featured because of that. Reality is, injuries happen and its a squad game.
-
Simple fact Scott Sinclair is better than Matt Phillips. Matt Phillips can't even get in the Scotland starting lineup this season.
-
Interesting point. I know from someone who would certainly know first hand, that Adkins was very popular on the training ground at Saints and highly rated but since MP has been in there has been a feeling that he is just a level above NA in everything he does.
-
They signed an 18 year old RB from Brazil in the summer or Jan, plus also have Azpilicueta who is only 23.
-
Would be a very good signing IMO, can play either wing or up top in an emergency, direct, pacy and still with plenty to prove. Would give a different option that we don't have, kind of like a De Ridder who is actually good.

Is Fletcher part of the problem? He always seems to get goals in a team that struggles to create much - maybe his style limits the team a little?

Yeah he came across well in that last bit, clearly didnt just want to pick all Saints players which is faor enough! Also looked like he wanted to correct Merson when he said Shaw won't be at Saints for long. Getting that contract signed will be our best signing of the summer! -

Merson saying Lambert would play for England all day long IF he had pace. Also saying Shaw won't be here next season. -
Lets just wait and see who gets injured for us!
-
Pretty sure it was from a press conference in Poland.

To be fair the best players Puncheon has played with will pretty much be our current team. -

Good player. Definitely a Les Reed signing because MP said he is only interested in players who we already have, whilst NC only buys players with links to Italy. -
Agree - it is becoming clear that if he doesn't stay at Saints then those Chapel fans have a LOT to answer for. Hopefully the club will restudy the footage and identify (then ban) the culprits.
-
Forren partnering Hangeland in Norway's defence tonight. Good to get some games into him.
-
Wonder if any of those Chapel "fans" post on here? Probably the ones that were slating Gazza as well!
-
As I said many times, those Chapel fans who abused him would, for me, be no1 to blame if we end up getting relegated as they facilitated the Gazza episode where crucial points were dropped. Hopefully the club will identify and ban them. Awful behaviour.
