And there is the problem no one knows how to trigger article 50, legal council cannot agree, the politicians are pontificating and do not have a plan. Even when this is sorted I would bet my shirt the Brexiteers will be widely split as the outcome will not address many of the issues that they were promised Brexits magic wand magically resolve.

Nothing I wrote referred to negatives in the EU but has everything to do with the self inflicted uncertainty of the Brexit vote. As usual you completely ignore any of the points I made, how do you view the worsening economic situation that has its root in the Brexit vote, a simple good or bad will suffice? Exactly what control have we got back, we are still in the EU and the total chaos surrounding how we will leave is anything but being in control, what is it like with your head in the sand?

Worrying about German banks wont deflect attention from what is currently happening at home, the preverbal chickens are coming home to roost; economic outlook deteriorating with an ever increasing probability of a recession and falling business confidence, no plan and no idea how to actually negotiate withdrawal from the EU, additional QE, more interest rate cuts, increased hate crime (just a coincidence?), Legal confusion on who, how and when Article 50 can be triggered, still the suns still shinning (just) and we have control !!!

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
moonraker replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Why quote Brussels, a city, alongside nation states, you might as well quote Bradford for the UK also 25% Muslim, how many mass killing terrorists attacks there? Since 1980 so called Islamic Terrorist mass killings have accounted for 52 deaths in the UK, other mass killings are; the IRA 22, random criminals 86, Lockerbie, a State Sponsored act, 270. There is no doubt that Islamic Fundamentalist Terrorism is serious problem, just like IRA (Roman Catholic) Terrorism in the 70's and 80's. The problem is not Islam per se but the use of Islam by evil criminal elements in Muslim communities. The only difference between Batman and Trump is at least Trump can use 140 charecters. -
Brexit has always been full of irony, the victorious swivel eyed loons have won a democratic referendum and now undemocratically tell anyone who questions the wisdom or post Brexit plan to ‘suck it up’, get over it etc. Well in my version of democracy you don’t suck it up or get over it, if you believe in something you carry on debating and fighting. As JB keeps telling us things change, so Brexitiers be prepared, it might not turn out quite how you expected.

Surely all you need is a Toyota Hilux an arc welder, odd bits of angle iron, some nuts and bolts, and hey presto an instant nuclear missile delivery system.

The new Cabinet poses more questions than it answers. While some appointments or confirmations and indeed sackings were predictable the 3 that stand out are, Bojo, Sly Fox and Davis. All prominent and controversial Brexiters. Whilst having Brexiters in the cabinet was essential there are plenty of other lower profile Brexiters who could have been appointed to satisfy the Brexit constituency. Fox is toxic, he failed at Defence and has not got a look in since. He is on the very right of the party and while he is very careful not to air dirty washing in public he is known for his behind the scenes sh*t stirring. Cameron appointed him to keep an eye on him and to trap him, it worked, I hope May has the same strategy. Bojo is another case of give him some rope and he will hang himself. If they are true to form, May will soon enough have a good reason to replace them and the Brexit and Right wing factions of the Tory party will have nothing to bleat about. Davis is a shrewder appointment, a perennial Eurosceptic and a darling of the grass roots. He has been charged with what is arguably the most difficult job. There are no case studies to review, experienced mentors to consult or well exercised civil servants to call on. It’s a case of you wanted this now sort it out. If things do not go the way Brexiters want, May can use Davis as her human shield. Will they all be in post a year from now, I wouldn’t bet on it.

Correct every penny Boeing 'Invest' in the UK for the P-8 Poseidon programme will come from the British Taxpayer, a % of which will be profit and therefore end up in the US. If the slash and burn defence review of 2011 had not cancelled our indigenous, somewhat troubled, MPA programme 2000 jobs would have been protected and new ones created within a British company. Finally the lack of any credible MPA over the past 6 years has increased the security risk and meant we have gone cap in hand to various governments to ‘borrow’ MPA capability, for a maritime nation this is a national disgrace, and still there is a myth that security and defence are safe in Tories hands.

This tells you all you need to know about this thoroughly unpleasant man. His pathetic claim to want a new kind of politics is an effort to hide his very old and underhand socialist bully boy tactics.

The % of the national vote is not an indicator of electoral success in our FPTP system, ask the Lib Dems and UKIP. What matters is whether the vote is concentrated in specific constituencies. If Labour does disintegrate (split) following the 2nd coronation of the their Socialist Messiah the key will be how many of those MP’s who voted against Corbyn will actually follow through and leave the Labour Party, either for another established party or as part of a new left of centre Social Democratic movement. If the latter I believe with strong leadership, professional organisation and campaigning , and time such a party would do well in a GE. The difficulty in distinguishing between the core offerings of Blair’s New Labour and Cameron’s Tory Lite, as evidenced by election results over the past 20 years, is a strong indicator that the British electorate believe in broadly social democracy policies, and the majority will not support extremism on either wing of the political spectrum. Corbyn and his acolytes confuse radical left wing ideology with social democracy, the electorate will not be so confused, the angry, irreverent hordes who have contaminated the Labour Party will only drive its downfall.

Sorry should actually have said, great news another major piece of the jigsaw secured.

It not just Les it all of them, they have not got a clue, why they keep on signing key players on long term contracts is beyond me what a waste of our money.

Wrong again I believe the austerity measures are in general justifiable, you might argue on the timetable but the old adage you reap what you sow fits for me. Comparing Greece and Ireland does you know favours, apart from a financial crises these countries have very little in common, Eire's inherent culture and work ethic was always likely to see it through, just like the British resilience will in the long term make Brexit work, just wish we could of got on with the day job instead of this unnecessary Right Wing inflicted distraction. t

No it is still available got some in a pound shop a few weeks ago! For QI facts devotees Plasticine was invented in my home city of Bath and the HARBUTTS factory was in its day the sole manufacturer of Plasticine, sadly it is now manufactured in Thailand, note no EU grants were involved in the offshoring of an iconic British product!!!!
-
It was great, we had a new packet of plastacine and I got the red strips.

Back from the day centre, how was the Bingo?

Agree, the Mediterranean countries have a fundamentally different attitude to their duties and responsibilities as citizens. They are masters at waving the flag and demonstrating their patriotism, but when it comes to paying their taxes and contributing for the greater good they all become very shy. Their governments and politicians are incapable of enforcing their own laws. While I am in favour of the EU it is these cultural and political divides that cause such resentment amongst the electorates of the Northern European states where paying ones taxes is accepted and adhered to by the vast majority. The idea of a parallel currency system is interesting but on the face of seems impracticable. The Euro was founded on deceits and falsifications to which the Commission and Politicians turned a blind eye, indeed encouraged, to ensure their vision of an EU wide currency could be delivered, it is by far the greatest error and deceit ever perpetrated by the EU.

The Irish economy is now amongst the strongest in the EU with high growth and record low unemployment. What is termed bailout was in reality investment, an investemnt in a key trading partner. The back door reffered to was via UK banks to their Irish subsidies. Banking is a global business and UK banks are major players and earn the UK a fortune despite the banking crises, I dont hear many complaints about the same back door bailout for an Australian Bank by the UK Banks! What would you have done differently and how would this have benefitted the UK economy?
-
Interesting to note that it appears support for anti-EU parties across the EU is falling as citizens of the other 27 see the chaos in the UK by a Brexit vote.
-
Where di 2 million poles come from there are 750k in the UK.
-
So another Tory does a runner when faced with reality, and this is the party of Governemnt that is charged with the most important series of negotaitions in our peace time history. Suck it up leavers!!!!!
-
What a load of baloney! What PR does is prevent extremism and encourage collaboration and consensus, something desperately needed in our modern world. Our current system results in a government, not elected by or representative of the majority, but one that represents the largest minority, and who said the EU was undemocratic!
-
The PR referendum was a stitch up by the 2 largest parties, FPTP is out of date, the UK is not a 2 party democracy and denying parties fair representation based on the proportion of the vote they receive is undemocratic, surely one who continually tells us that the EU is undemocratic can acknowledge that. Oh wait perhaps not because you are not actually interested in true democracy as your continual belittling of any thing that does not come from the right wing of the Tory party demonstrates. The party of robbers or brigands has never been more appropriate to the Tory party than it is today. I am not and never have been a member of any political party, I am a UK voter, and I am fed up of our political parties failure to represent the vast majority of my fellow voters and having to listen to the verbiage spouted by those who blindly follow them.

Thats what you get when a one dimensional argument succeeds.
