He's not hated by the vast majority. A lot may disagree with his tactics but that doesn't equate to hate.

Smallbone will never be a top quality player but I think a lot of his good work gets missed. I'd say his movement off the ball and ability to find pockets of space is better than anyone else in the team. He is also developing a very good understanding with KWP making an excellent partnership there plus he's popped up with a few goals. What he possibly lacks is a little bit of pace and physicality but most games I think he plays an important role for the team.

If this is the case then why don't we play similar to yesterday which was chalk and cheese to practically every other game so far? And I don't buy into this idea that it takes time to learn because we did nothing yesterday that needs any great skill set change - it was front front foot positive football with players finding pockets of space, passing and moving, a mix of some longer balls, passing with pace on the ball and players recognising that sometimes they need to drop off to receive the ball. There was a lot we saw yesterday that has largely been missing and far less of the crab football so long may it continue.

The penalty is a strange one because there was a very similar incident when Wolves played Man Utd. The Utd keeper cleaned out a Wolves striker just like yesterday and VAR looked at it but decided no penalty. I'm baffled because I thought both were blatant penalties but perhaps we are misinterpreting the rules. I did notice that Sky asked our old mate Mike Dean and he said it was a blatant penalty.

As to decisions going our way I would argue that the ref missed a blatant scissor kick on KWP. We didn't get what was a clear free kick, Brum brought on their sub and they scored immediately. Ref gives us the free kick and Brum don't score because the pattern of the game is changed.

Bit harsh on AA. He worked his socks off, scored one, assisted one and could have had a couple more.

Think this thread deserves a bump. Very impressed with Bree today, thought he hardly put a foot wrong and if he keeps this up it'll be hard to leave him out of the team. Well done to the lad who has had to wait his chance but is now showing what he can do.

Thought Smallbone played well - intelligent movement and always available. Mixed up his passing. We all see different things which is what makes it such a good game to watch.
