If he can then fair play but I'm pretty sure it's easier said than done unless you have a squad of very talented players who are all great athletes. Most clubs don't.
-
Agree, I did mention that as one of the problems he'll inherit 🙂
-
There's an excellent series of videos on his time at Salzburg on Redbull.com which I've started watching. He has a young Erling Haaland in the squad. Marsch is clearly very driven and determined to be a success. He comes across very well.

Clearly one of the main problems for Jessie Marsh, or whoever we appoint, is the inability to defend our goal. Marsch will have his work cut out because he likes a high press which invariably leaves his sides very vulnerable on the counter attack. Also, we are prone to ridiculous errors that gift goals to opponents and do not have a decent 'keeper at the club. I think we'll create a lot more chances but can we keep the ball out of our net with the players at his disposal? Maybe the two full backs will have to be more selective in when and how often they raid forward, choose their moments and not be too reckless. Also, are we fit enough as a group to maintain a high press? You'd think it should be slightly easier to manage with 5 subs available. I'm looking forward to seeing how we go about things tactically. We need wins rather than draws so Marsch will have to factor that in. I still think we are going down but it could be an exciting ride and maybe he will pull off a miracle.

Obviously you have an alternative who would take the job and do better than Marsch.
-
Agree entirely. The likes of Merson, Crooks and Morrison only get gigs because they are ex pros not because they talk any kind of sense.
-
Maybe he'll get us to Wembley twice! There is still much to play for this season so let's hope JM, if appointed, hits the ground running. I'll give him my backing and I'm not sure we could have done a whole lot better in our current predicament.
-
When can we expect the official announcement?
-
Isn't it time all the constant verbal abuse and swearing at referees at the top level is dealt with as well. Ok, there aren't physical attacks but some of the vervbal abuse is horrendous. Time to take a leaf out of the rugby refereeing book.

Not sure how this video has any of the hallmarks of the Jones training video. All I see is a manager giving a good half time rallying call to his players. What am I missing?
-
Yet, in the end, Bielsa maverick genius could do nothing to prevent them regularly letting in 3 or 4 goals at a time.
-
Get Marsch in quick!
-
A guy on Blackmore's phone in said no to Marsch and then said we should get in Nigel Adkins 🙂
-
Well you could go and ask Everton anf Fulham fans what they think of Marco Silva and I'm sure you'd get two sets of completely opposing views.
-
I was against Marsch initially but realistically he's probably about as good as we can hope for. Most of us don't believe we have any chance of avoiding the drop and, to be fair, it was always going to happen eventually on our budget. Willing to be open minded and give Marsch a chance to see what he can do - he'll be working with a different set of players so perhaps he can get a tune out of our under achievers. Plus I don't think there are many other options in our predicament - beggars can't be choosers and all that. As long as we don't end up with someone out of the blue chosen by the wise one Rasmus Fecking Ankersen using his clever algorithm.
-
Pep thinks he's the mutts nuts. Apart from that, nothing.
-
Ratcliffe may as well buy Saints then.

He didn't want to be here and got his wish to move to a bigger club where he didn't cut the mustard. He came back with his tail between his legs and, unfortunately for us, Jones decided he was a good option for the first team. As expected it's been one mistake after the other culminating in one of the clumsiest panic-stricken ogs I've ever seen. Bednarek is not good enough for the Premier League and it's time he realised it - he's proved it many times over.
-
I understand it is very difficult to significantly improve fitness levels at the same time as playing matches. There is absolutely no excuse these days for not being as fit as every other team in the Premier League - if we are not then that is criminal.
-
Not sure Tall Paul will be a good fit for Marsch's pressing from the front philosophy.
-
There are two things guaranteed to happen more often when Janny B has a run of games for us....1) an increase in own goals and 2) conceding 2 goals in quick succession. It was ever thus.
-
Well 90% and possibly more knew Jones would be a disaster and have been proved right so let's not reinvent the wheel and suggest that Ankersen and SR know best because they clearly don't.
-
If true once again SR and Ankersen will be taking us out of the frying pan into the fire. He's just been fired for coaching Leeds into relegation contenders.
-
So you'd advocate a coach should set up the same way whether playing against eleven men or ten. Whatever Wolves did at half time we should have already changed from five at the back when Lemina was sent off. Not saying our players don't have to take some responsibility but this defeat was largely down to the inadequacies of Jones.
-
Also common sense when appointing a new manager rather than relying on an algorithm that spews out names such as Nathan Jones. Hope lessons have been learned but I doubt it.
