  1. Right, it's been a quiet few days what with the weekend and bank holiday. Only 4 days until the window slams shut now so things should start to ramp up and I'm hoping for a few surprises and a bit of excitement in terms of incomings. I'll probably end up disappointed but you never know.
  2. Not keen on AA as a loan striker, he's proved better in a deeper role on the left and looks to enjoy playing behind Fraser. If Adams is sold we need his replacement in quick and hopefully ready to lead the line next week against Sunderland.
  3. Think if Che goes we need to be buying two strikers so that we have cover. Just the one if he stays.
  4. Look, if you're a Man City fan you'll moan and say not this again. For Saints fans it's more a case of haven't heard this for a while (not so much this season though)
  5. Good money after bad springs to mind.
  6. Almost makes you wonder why Man City spent all that money building a treble winning side when they could have been shopping in the bargain basement bin 🙂
  7. Why don't we just go for Jed Spence who looks the much better option. Leeds have already possibly stolen a march on us with Piroe, we need to be getting in ahead of our competitors not standing back. I get that a lot of this is just football gossip but I hope we are not freeing up a player Leeds maybe don't want so they can go after Spence who should be on our radar.
  8. I think the squad as it stands is pretty strong and gives us a reasonable stab at getting promotion although it will be a relentless slog where we need to make sure we drop very few points. What does worry me is if Che is sold and we don't buy/loan an adequate replacement. Who leads the line out of our current strikers if Che leaves? In fact, even if he stays, I'd say we still need another decent striker as an option because there'll be injuries, suspensions and loss of form to factor in. Still, at least we can enjoy again the feeling we get from winning games and going into them with confidence we'll get something rather than the past few depressing seasons.
  9. Can I ask then why only clubs in the Championship take it seriously? That seems a weird conception to me. Surely either every club has to stick by FFP rules or we agree it's a free for all for everyone.
  10. FFP doesn't seem to stop other clubs spending absolute fortunes every window. Not sure we've spent sufficient previously for it to impact much on us. Could be that I just don't understand the FFP rules or even think anyone particularly bothers to adhere to them.
  11. He'll fit in a treat then 🙂
  12. So Darren 'Air Miles' Mowbray has been sent on a wild goose chase then 🙂
  13. If true possibly explains why we missed out on Piroe. Hope any signing this week aren't the Poundland versions. Also blows out of the water the theories from some that we are keeping a war chest to spend next summer if we get promoted. Sounds like Dragan has decided to recoup some of the millions wasted - can't really blame him.
  14. How many gems has Darren 'Air-Miles' Mowbray unearthed on his global travels?
  15. You think KWP is staying? We've sold pretty much everyone else....would be weird if he stays.

    Che Adams

zzzzzzzz is the Che saga still moving along at glacial speed? For fecks sake someone, anyone just make a frigging decision.
  17. Isn't he just Edozie Mk2?
  18. Ha ha. Let's all laugh at the cheating Geordies 🙂
  19. It wasn't reckless and it wasn't a goal scoring opportunity - a yellow would have been appropriate.
  20. Never a red card, very soft - ref playing up to the Geordies.
  21. Mivoski didn't score a penalty then? BBC must have that wrong.
  22. Careful, that's far too sensible for this forum.
  23. Wouldn't want to take a chance on Stewart from Sunderland as he's still recovering from an achilles injury. With our tough fixtures coming up we need someone to come straight in not a player who needs time to get fully fit. He looks a decent striker though but too big a risk for me.

    Che Adams

Ross Stewart is a good player without doubt. However, he is still recovering from a torn achilles so is not right for us. He is not scheduled to be available to start matches until late September at the earliest with no guarantee what Sunderland will get from him so, for me, he'd represent far too big a risk because we could be waiting a few months which is time we cannot afford. We need someone who is fit, ready and can hit the ground running. Maybe that was Piroe and we were outsmarted by Leeds because their DoF went direct to the owners of Swansea and got the deal done and he's already scored for them in his first game. Hope we have someone decent lined up to be unveiled this week.
  25. Not if we don't get replacements especially in Che's case. QPR ran us close yesterday and could easily have taken the points. We need strengthening this week or I think we'll see a dip in results especially with a tough set of fixtures coming up.
