  1. Exactly. I'm going to remember him for the player he was with us. A striker who found it difficult and made it look difficult to score goals. He may have got double figures that season, but I am struggling to remember another striker I have seen who missed as much when one on one, had such poor technique, looked as if they couldn't be bothered and generally found it difficult to control, run with and use a ball. I feel sorry for Sheffield Wednesday, arguably one of the worst results in their history (losing 5 - 1 to Stevenage, who they probably never even dreamt they would ever play) and their solution is to bring in McGoldrick. They deserve a lot better. I'd also like to know if we can have our money back from Notts County.
  2. Just like Fonte was supposed to go there in the January window of this year?
  3. Good for him. Another Club that is gullible to believe he's a professional footballer. That takes the total up to six. He's a good con artist isn't he?
  4. In all seriousness, why not? He's not exactly Velimir Zajec.
  5. I'm not sure an article based upon quotes from a former Southampton player about a current one proves the Club aren't talking to the Echo. However, from my own experience, the Club goes out of its way to make it difficult for the press when they want to. Completely ignoring calls and emails is something I've become all too used to...
  6. He brought the house down.
  7. This is why I'm a journalist. Libya might be in the midst of a civil war, the economy may be uncertain, but there are the feel-good stories everyone has to hear.
  8. It even features Anthony Pulis. Brilliant!
  9. Remember him? He's just signed for Winchester City.
  10. Perrett is one to talk, he's a f*cking joke of a journalist. I've had the displeasure of being sat near him in the press box once or twice and he's not a pleasant individual. He also found a lot of time last season to wind up Saints fans and make nasty comments about Nigel. Seems to have stopped all that though... I wonder why.
  11. 'You're a fakin cowck sucka mayte!'
  12. At youth level, Jake Thomson was a class act. Don't know what happened to him really.
  13. "I'd be surprised if Paul Smith isn't in the England team for the games against the US and Colombia". To be fair, he was playing pretty well. Now look at him...
  14. Yeah the plan was to get Reid and Dawson wasn't it? Would have taken Dawson though, could have been a nice little earner.
  15. Quite sad actually, he has an injury that means he may never be able to run again and had to retire. Will almost certainly have a limp according to this: http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/03/11/olivier-bernard-s-career-ending-injury-tale-61634-28316640/#ixzz1GICmB5IJ
  16. Olivier Bernard will be a good signing.
  17. He apparently signed a professional deal in 2007, I'm surprised we didn't hear a bit more about him.
  18. I briefly worked for the Club in 2006 and during this time was responsible for coverage of the under 18's. Whilst I was there, Georges Prost spoke about an Italian-American kid that he was desperate to sign, saying he was one of the best prospects he had ever seen. Initially there was a holdup with paperwork, I remember Prost saying he just knew it was at the bottom of the pile at some passport office or something like that. I think there was a wait on getting the go-ahead from the Home Office. When he did sign, there was still a struggle to get international clearance to play him. Whatever happened to him? He's disappeared off the face of the earth as far as I can tell. He had a spell at a development team (Dayton Dutch Lions) but seems to have moved on. Georges was a very well respected youth coach - wonder if he got it a tad wrong on this occasion.
  19. Cheers shirleysfc. He won't go easily, I think its fair to say. http://www.courtoffside.com/forum/showthread.php?t=78538 Check that out. The bucket rattlers are going to put money into our Club! About time they paid us back.
  20. What's he saying?
  21. Love it.
  22. I was at school, year eight I think it was. Incredible.
  23. It's interesting you say that though, there's been enough protestations about him being sold along with all the others. I think he's seriously overrated, then again, I think McCoid is too.
  24. Indeed, its plain petty and more than anything, disrespectful. Not only have we helped them stay in business, we've loaned them top players. We've helped them more than their hero Harry anyway. For all the talk he was giving of 'I won't let them go into non league', what did he actually do? As for selling players, as I have previously said, they got a whiff of something better and left. Look at where their players who have recently moved on have come from. Ings and McCoid were nothing before they played at Bournemouth and then left at the first sign of interest. Feeney was playing non-league for most of his career before the odd appearance at Southend and then his move to Dean Court. Then after a few season in the bottom two tiers he's good enough for the Championship - in his own head. Howe came very close to joining Charlton but turned it down, saying it was the hardest decision of his career, and yet as soon as the Championship came calling he couldn't wait to leave. I don't think it'll work out for him at Burnley - lets face it, he overachieved at Bournemouth. When I worked there, the team had a fantastic team spirit, one that made me think they'd get promotion to the Championship ahead of us. I always thought they were punching above their weight but they were hard workers. That counts for a lot.
  25. Ha. I thought he was the pride of Portsmouth? In all seriousness I'm glad to hear you say that.
