just on Caroll, its true to say that good english players always carry a big premium. Although it is still a bonkers price.

The Sun Tickets for £9.50 Offer More than one club not included
teamsaint replied to adysaint's topic in The Saints
presumably if NC wants to sell tix at £10 he can do it without giving publicity the sun. -
why do you suspect that? I would have thought that at the time he signed his contract, that sort of deal might have seemed an acceptable one to NC .(if that was what was demanded by ACs agent in order for him to sign). But I hope you are right, and maybe you know something........................
-
Although, if they hadn't said stupid things, they would still have their jobs. Time for some other undeserving twit to get their snout in the trough.
-
ask him about why they are effectively privatising the NHS, and if he is happy that large chunks of NHS budget will end up in the pockets of U S healthcares companies. Thought no doubt his answer to the second part will be ... " Yes".
-
everybody has their price. but I really can't see NC risking promotion for 5m. 10 m cash might be worth the risk, assuming we have a class replacement lined up

in my time.... man u relegated Villa / citeh/ Forest (double european cup wimmers)/ Saints all been to the third tier. luton gone from top flight to conference. West ham (with capacity not much less than Liverpool) yo yo'd between the top two flights. Newcastle, with much bigger gates than liverpool, been trophyless nearly fo ever, and been relegated at least twice. Sunderland been crap most of the time. Leeds, the all conquering team of my childhood, bust and in L1 Chelsea, rubbish for 30 years before they got 100s of millions to buy a team As I said above they are going to need one very good plan to get back to the top. And here are some teams with great trophy winning"History"..... Huddersfield Blackburn Poopey WBA Bury Wolves Preston Leed Don't think we will be seeing any of them in the CL very soon. Oh, and one other thing, the scrap at the bottom of the PL is going to be particularly tough this year.
-
hudds winning 3-2. and acccording to BBC have had 86 % possession !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
very ordinary team, new owners with no experience of the PL (or British football), attendances that are average for the top half of the pL, no youth team players coming through.....even Alex O-C won't be able to turn that round! Liverpool need a plan for AT least 5 years, a new stadium at cheap cost, and some patient fans,......and i guess they have none of that lined up. They really ought to look at the Arse. they have a fantastic manager, stability, invest in the Eurpopes finest young players, have attendances 50 % higher than the scousers and they STILL can't win anything. Strange days indeed, as one scouser put it.

as ever, some of them just don't get it. Just out of admin, having taken almost everybody to the cleaners financially, (not least the taxpayer). So....like other teams you either cut your cloth (journeymen players etc) OR you have an owner prepared to fund your exotic lifestyle. But poopey want it both ways. They want PL quality players at PL costs, but also want to whinge to the whole world about threadbare squads whilst loaning out perfectly decent players , and paying 3 times what they can afford on their top earners. As the albion board shows, a lot of other fans are pretty upset by the way they have behaved. And if corpse thinks its just embittered Saints fans who they have upset then he really is deluded.. ...
-
If Austin signs for us that is great. And if he chooses to go elsewhere, he must be a total muppet....and we don't need any of those. So either way we win !!
-
he's very talented.....but never seems to settle. if I were in charege at Millwall, I would be cautious about splashing out on a big contract.
-
Anyone have any information on how tickets are selling for these two?
-
If Aliadiere ups his demands to £20k a week, he might get poopey interested.
-
well they certainly broke the mould when they made him. Hard to think that anybody like Beefheart could makeit in todays corporate climate. A sad day for music and art. RIP
-
i agree witth FF about his earlier point.....lets look at the swansea model(or similar) and get some wide based supporter ownership. Also, its pretty obvious to me that NC has been anticipating this for a while, hence the restricited spending, and maximising of revenue streams...both good ideas if you need to be self sufficient.
-
sorry , I don't get it. I thought it was just us that hate poopey, surely the rest of the country think that they are great, just got a bit unlucky money wise. And all the fans of other teams think that the skates are the best fans around. Thats right, isn't it? Heck , that brighton board must be a sham put together by desperate Saints fans.
-
think we have to assume that NA had very goodd reasons for letting him out on loan.....which might include having Lee Holmes raring to go. lets hope holmes can do the biz when he gets his next chance. He has loads of ability and looked well up for it today.
-
another route that I use os to go towards chippenham, but then to go lacock Corsham A46 to M4 and then M32. It usually avoids any problems(not if the M4 is snarled up obviously). But its not all that quick
-
had a look, and I think Bath is the only realistic route there. shouldn't be too bad after 6, and will be fine coming back .
-
do that route a fair bit. There is NO good route to brizzle...how bad the route is depends on which area of Briz you are going to...........where you to...??
-
so remind me, what is it you have to do to get your tv money early? cheat the tax man? Go into administration? Buy some stoke players you can't afford? or all of the above? Really can't believe the silence from other CCC chairmen.
-
FWIW, I think that Ho has a pretty fair idea of the "real " situation" at poopey before the collapse last season. However, its also fair to say that the administration has been an elegantly worked out sham that HAS cheated creditors, including the tax payer, very badly. its also true that the CVA vote was rigged,if the true debt was nearer £60m....and that is cheating. the administration scam has also worked against the interests of poopeys football rivals. It cannot be right that a club in ( a rather dubious) administration is spending money on players that other clubs with similar income can only dream of. Personally, I think its high time that strict limits were put on money that clubs can spend outside of that generated by football iE gate money, legitimate sponsorship, transfer income etc. Firstly it would make the game more transparent financially, as well as better run. Secondly , it would restore some much needed elements of real competition...and maybe make the game more interesting. Man citehs current success is of little real interest compared to their "real" success back in the Alison/ Mercer days. THirdly. it might stop clubs being so much at the mercy of people like gaydamac and chanrai....and (dare i say it)our own owners. And all this would need to be done with a proper, sensible and fair distribution of SKY money...a distribution that would stop insame gambles on promotion to the PL at any cost. remember the days when chairmen were happier being top of div 2 than bottom of div 1? not such a bad thing really.
-
seems likely that Chanrai will lend them the money, in the hope of getting promoted. If they go up, all is well, if they fail, he will bleed them dry.
-
There must be every chance that we will imporove as the season goes on...and that we will strengthen, if need be, in the window. The odd bad result happens....but you could get close to promotion by only beating the teams in the bottom half....we just need to keep picking up two points a game. Looks like the points required for promotion or playoffs will be lower this time.
