  1. Mark Fry will NOT want to be seen as the man who failed to save SFC. So I reckon the absolute last resort is: SLH gets liquidated. The Stadium and all other assets that can be are sold. The stadium goes to some venture capitalist or SCC at a knock down price. The players are all released. A new club is formed, possibly by the Saints trust, and either takes a 25 point penalty if the league let it start in L1, or more likely gets to start wherever it can in the pyramid- Fry tries to get us in the conference, as there's at least a shred of respectability in that.(and 5/7 years progress up, the ladder saved). The new club gets SMS at at v cheap rent, especially for year 1, and the new club is funded initially by ST sales. Something like that anyway. is that all legal and do-able?
  2. interesting that the story has come out after the last home game..............
  3. well I do want to see him here. he's far from perfect, but he has had rubbish management like all our young players. Since being given a role where he can do his best work, (with the ball at his feet going forward,) he has improved no end. He will score a LOT of goals in L1, and he has plenty of talent. IMO opinion, there won't be too many more talented players in L1. We really don't want him to joinn the ever growing list of Ex saints who were apparently rubbish for us, but flourish elsewhere. He could hand over penalty duty though.
  4. We all have a take on this. The Saints have been part of my life 40 years, and its cost me a fortune in the process. Worth every penny. But in my time Man city, Sheff weds, Wolves, Leeds, forest, Villa, skates, amongst others have been in the third tier, It happens. its happened to us because of lousy management and the financial calamity of losing PL status without a sugar daddy. The club needs a new start, and whateever stability it can get.We will be climbing back up soon, but patience is needed. looking forward to day 1 of the next season. (hopefully there WILL be a day one).
  5. Surman will prove , if it neede proving, that most of our problems are at management level. Stoke are staying afloat with Higgy, fuller, and delap. kevin Davies thrives at Bolton, dex is doing the business in the CCC .Dyer is wanted by a far better team than us. Etc etc. The reason sooooooooooo many of our players look poor is that they are poorly managed, by the ever changing SMS management team(s). If we do not learn that lesson we really are our own worst enemies. Surman will thrive at a solid club like Reading. lallana will prove to be a class act. They will be our loss and others gain.

  7. we should take the 10 points. We have no moral high ground. this football club needs new owners. It needs management players and supporters all pulling together. It needs real targets, like the L1 playoffs. It really doesn't need to rake over the past and Lowe's legacy of failure, and it doesn't need the distraction of endless legal battles. This football club needs to get back to playing the best, most entertaining football it can, for a stadium full of appreciative fans.
  8. I would have bought an extra satin yellow away scarf, so that I still had one now.
  9. you just never know. I think one year WBA needed 4 results to go for them on the last day and they did.(maybe the year we went down?) Can't see it happening though!
  10. and even if the league(s) are happy with a reformed SMS based club joining the conference, the other conference clubs might kick up bigstyle. although I doubt they would have much to worry about with our current team!!
  11. if we are so close to the end, the 10 points deduction is rapidly becoming irelevant. So wouldn't we put the football club into administration, and, worst case scenario, not pay the wages. Ok we would get the mother of all points deductions and certain relegation to L2, but even that is better than liquidation and the possibility of starting out at the bottom of the pyramid, possibly playing on the common.
  12. The 15 K figure is not true. Not every true fan gets to every home game. And IMO, if the situation is a s dire as has been said, the administrator should really make it crystal clear. "Look folks, either sell out the ground, or we will be finished by the end of the week" ought to do it.
  13. its pretty much the plan rupert backed a few years ago. One of his better judgements IMO.
  14. if we survive there is only ONE way to get decentcrowds, and that is a ST offer that people cannot turn down. £250 to £300 for chapel/corners, up to £500 halfway line.
  15. I'm sorry to say, but back in the old days of the PL survivals, the club still had a heart. That is all gone now. Of the players almost none have any real affinity with the club beyond the next cheque (surman excepted), and neither does he manager, and we don't have a board of directors. Its all gone. The only ones left who care are the fans. The team has no fighting spirit, certainly not enough. The Charlton game proved that, and no doubt todays capitulation did too. We fans may have to show fighting spirit to keep our club alive, but hoping that the first team squad will chip in with some is a long shot.
  16. I think that next saturday has to be all about OUR pride in Our team and OUR city. While there is a faint chance of CCC survival we must back the "team", but the day needs to be about the real football club, the fans without whom there certainly would be no club, coming together to show pride and unity. years ago, I remember Aldershot fans , and I can't remember if it was their last game in the league or before going out of business, Standing together, singing over and over "Aldershot will never die". What faith that small band showed that night. And they were right. They did it. Show that film on the screens at SMS. THAT was true support, THAT is how we must be , in a very dark hour, for the club WE love.
  17. All true, but doesn't the administrator have to get more than he would by liquidation? What might a liquidation figure be? £10m? What if gaydamack decides to buy SMS??!!
  18. I would be interested to know how much it would cost to run a L1 team. If the survival of the club is at stake, everything that isn't the first team or that doesn't make money goes- so how much to run SMS and a team?Any Guesses? I Guesstimate £8m.
  19. I agree docker p.Doesn't make sense to me. But in any case, £2m won't buy the club, I think, because the administrator will get more by selling off any assets.
  20. This is all very worrying. Poor old Saints.

    Lee Holmes

will turn out to be a great signing for us.
  23. we had some great contests with Luton when they had a really good side, with Saints often coming off worst. The true Luton fans will stick with it, and they will be back before too long. Its truly nonsensical to condemn a town of Lutons size to not having a league team. Will always have fond memories of Kenilworth road, if only for the win there in 78. Good luck to them in the conf.
  24. Coventry 1971 Won 3-1. Stood on a milk crate in the Archers.happy days.
  25. I think MK Dons have it about right. http://www.mkdons.com/staticFiles/9c/31/0,,10420~143772,00.pdf
