  1. Thats why i included Clarke in the scenario as i think it would have benefited Zola and us greatly. Anyway, onwards and upwards...hopefully.
  2. So many 'excellent' 'best appointment' ever, even 'genius appointment' statements, yet if you show an ounce of trepidation, hesitancy, think it is a huge gamble and worried that this appointment is shorterm or shortsighted in anyway you get a barrage of 'just because he is'nt a 'big name' or 'you know nothing about him'. What makes some on here think they are more qualified to post their opinion 'as fact' than others that are not so convinced it will all be rosy in the garden? He did well at Scunny, well thats it then,it is written in stone...Adkins the saviour that will turn the fortunes around take us all the way to the promised land. He did well at a club with low expectations, got them promoted, took them down, got them promoted with really no pressure and safe and comfortable in the knowledge his job was safe....he was permantly in his comfort zone. As i say, good luck i hope you do really well, but some are peeing their pants at this prospect, based on no more than those who are slightly underwhelmed:) Is there no middle ground when it comes to some people? Good luck Nigel, prove me wrong. And before the who 'would you have liked' is wheeled out as the defence for adkins,Possibly Mowbray,Zola/Clarke......now if they had been appointed i would still have some reservations i would not have declared it at 'excellent' 'genius' he/they will do a brilliant job for us' as though it is fact.
  3. +1.
  4. That will be the 14th time in ten years.
  5. "we were inundated with applications from an impressive range of managers-a far cry from the position we found ourselves in when we last appointed a new manager" Could that be a little dig at AP,the best of a bad lot? in his opinion.
  6. Too early to make a judgement, never too early to have an opinion, there is a difference. He got it wrong once its not impossible to make the same mistake twice. As i have said,i hope i'm wrong.
  7. Dean Wilkins, caretaker manager at Southampton, is hoping to hand over control of the first-team soon - saying that Saints lack confidence and quality in depth. The South Coast club were defeated 1-0 at Swindon Town on Saturday. They had hoped to appoint Nigel Adkins before the game, but were unable to agree financial compensation with S****horpe to secure release from his contract. "We were on top in the first half, but we're just finding it hard to get our noses in front. I know everyone says we have got a big squad, but you have only got to look at the options on the bench when we go a goal behind, it becomes difficult then," he said. "We started the game brightly, a lot of the work we did this week you saw in the first 45 minutes, but we can't score and that's been our biggest problem. "The situation at the club needs to be sorted out as soon as possible regards a new manager. "It would lift the club, it would help everyone at the club concentrate on their job and stop all the talking that is going on the at the club at the moment." Adkins said after S****horpe's loss to Bristol City on Saturday that he hoped to have a resolution sorted before Monday. He has agreed personal terms, along with assistant Andy Crosby, to move to St Mary's. An announcement seems likely on Monday morning. Should that happen, Ian Baraclough is likely to be appointed caretaker manager ahead of Tuesday's trip to Sheffield United.
  8. He can't wait to step aside,it seems...... http://www.s****horpeunited-mad.co.uk/news/tmnw/southampton_caretaker_keen_to_step_aside_557755/index.shtml
  9. Wrong, being crap at interviews is not what i was insinuating, perhaps he had a poor judge of character when considering the following, the ability to fit in and work with others, achieve targets set, flexiibility in the roles given,Cortese made an assessment that Pardew met this and footballing criteria, as i would think any potential employers would, this appears not to have been the case due to the fact he is gone in a year.He is falable like others therefore it is not beyond the realms of possibility he has made another managerial appointment mistake.Which is the side i have fallen down on. Don't twist and judge what other post to meet the criteria of your agenda, have an open mind, not a small and closed one. Not everyone agrees all the time, what a boring world it would be. Put me on ignore if my views don't run parrallel with yours.
  10. Excatly,i too am being pilloried for not just accepting Adkins as 'the one for saints' and forming a differing opinion.
  11. I can comment on what i believe his capabilities are just as much as anyone else. What convinces you he will be so good as opposed to why i don't think he is good enough to take us to the premier league, what do you base it on? i'ts your opinion like mine. rerference Cortese' interview techniques,he was not a good judge of character with Pardew obviously,it appears they did'nt get on from the word go. Just accept we don't have to agree,i've explained my reasons on various threads including this one,i am being consistant and forthright in my opinions. Put me on ignore if the thought of someone not going along with the 'Adkins is the man for saints' Stuff and move on. I will chow down on the humble pie if he is successful, let's hope i do have too eh.
  12. Their appears to be no middle ground with some people. It's my opinion that i don't think it is within his capabilities to take us forward in the longterm. and push us on in our goal...a return to the premiership. no more,no less.
  13. Well,that's Adkins out then.
  14. When i was a nipper my dad built me a wooden stool and painted it in red and white stripes, the good old days of the family centre at the Dell.
  15. More to the point, what more can he do for us? And looking back is all very well, but it is the future is what i am concerned about. Different clubs, different ambitions. No comparison between the two, imo.
  16. That's the point, i have read his credentials, nothing to get overly excited in my view whatsoever. You know no more than i do about him,let alone how he will fare here. You just come to a different conclusion by reading exactly the same as me and forming an opinion. Damn those opinions, who would of thought it eh,on a forum for football fans.
  17. Unfortunately they will still earn in a week what i earn in a year...well,almost. They don't give a monkeys who's shirt they wear or what team it represents. Mercenaries...the lot of 'em.
  18. Erectile disfunction? God i'm bored and fed up with it all. Apologies for being facetious.
  19. Harsh......but fair. Just got in from the pub per chance?
  20. I love you.XXXX
  21. I take all your points onboard and concur upto a point. There is no way any comparison can be made reference what he did at Scunny and what needs to be done at SFC however. Less expectancy levels, differing calibre of player and the pressure will be huge. But my main gripe is all this 'what he did at Scunny' stuff,it means bog all in the grand scheme of things and this is the main hope we are pinning are season/seasons ahead, couple that with the fact that i truly believe he could not take us forward if he was to get us promoted makes this appointment a wasted opportunity. But hey ho good luck to the fella and i hope he is a blinding success. All imo.
  22. Your constructive retort was well worth the wait. Thanks for answering my questions and defending your stance so eloquently, your argument obviously outweighs mine,i bow down to you interlect.
  23. Well obviously he is not coming here now and more than likely would not have in the first place. so you think he would've not been a good aquisition? Thats what the hcdajfu thread is about is it not? Not definate signings but who a poster,in their opinion cdajfu. Do you take your pills oraly or via the rectum. May i recommend rectal diazepam,5mgs should do the job.
  24. Strangely i had him down on the hcdajfu thread, would have been ideal, imo.
  25. I will not lay claim to the title of a drama queen, but 'we could win the league under him' is a bold statement, here's hoping we do..what then?he is not adequate enough to get us above and beyond league one, imo. Trust me i would certainly apologise and raise a glass to him if he stays the course and is successful.Dependant on what your level of success is of course.
