  1. I don't disagree and drive just like that but there is no such thing a as a fast lane.
  2. Bit before his/hers time perhaps.
  3. Good luck with that. It'll be utterly rammed and baking hot. Wonderful city, but not in August.
  4. North of the lake is better than the south.
  5. Lucca is a wonderful place. Love it.
  6. Yep, or the Marches mountains. Lovely place.
  7. Not far. Verona is a lovely place, as is Padua & Vicenza, on the same line between Milan and Venice. Only downside is that that part of Italy is cripplingly hot in August. If I'm honest, and we go to Italy a lot, I'd avoid any of the cities in August. Rammed full of tourists and very, very hot.
  8. The highway code allows for riding 2 abreast. Rule 66 never ride more than two abreast
  9. I've always thought of it as the club has 1st dibs on the player.
  10. There is no such as a fast lane, just overtaking lanes. Once you've completed your overtake you should move into the left hand lane.
  11. On the M6 (outside of commuter hours) I set cruise for 85mph. Have done for years.
  12. Friend on mine is motorway OB and he said to me that as long as you're not driving like an absolute twaat then they're not bothered about speed if it's below 85mph. Above that then you're fair game.
  13. I don't get that either. If there is a cycle lane then use it (I don't as it happens on my commute because I ride too fast for the joint cycle/footpaths we have in Stafford but I use them in Stoke). They are there to keep people safe. My pet hate as a driver is the thick f**kers who block a junction in busy traffic in their desperate need to be 5m further up the road behind a stationary car instead of just holding back for a couple of minutes. As a cyclist, if I'm out with a group, it's the thick f**kers who don't understand that it's safer for the cyclist and the driver if we ride 2 abreast as per the highway code. It's easier to overtake 10 riding 2 abreast than 10 strung out in a pace line. Also, the cars that overtake then slam their anchors in to turn left. I mean, are you in such a hurry that 5 seconds makes such a f**king difference?
  14. By the Britannia Stadium the busy A50 joins the busy A500. At least once a week for the last 2 years I've driven past the aftermath of a shunt where they merge as cars/vans/lorries come banging down the slip and then suddenly realise that they don't actually have right of way, break and shunt, or they attempt to swing into the traffic, fail, break and shunt.
  15. We are just about to sell my Saab and just keep the 7 seater as I've changed to bike/train/bike for the winter months and just bike for the warmer weather for my commute from Stafford to Stoke. The M6 was getting beyond a joke and the bike/train/bike option is quicker than the car. We've lockers, showers etc at work so when the clocks change I'll use one of my road bikes for a quick 16mile blast and then get ready on arrival and then just a high speed blast on the way back. We've experimented with 1 car for the last 3 weeks and we simply haven't missed the 2nd car. It'll save a couple of grand a year.
  16. You do have a history of tweeting "Sky sources" style tweets. Even Granty ripped the piiss out of you for the way you rehashed tweets to make them sound like your own.
  17. That's a great idea.
  18. Very windy and very cold 110km today and another "100 Climbs" ticked off. Not good climbing Jiggers Bank in a 30mph headwind though.
  19. Taking Reed off was a gamble that wasn't worth taking. Said then that a 0-1 score was inevitable. For me today is the day the UCL dream was extinguished.
  20. Cheers Glasgow.
  21. Told you. We'll lose next week as well and won't get back into the UCL places again this season.

  23. 1-2 followed by a defeat at QPR and that'll be that for a Euro place. I can feel it in my water.
  24. Cool. I was supposed to be out on a 150km club ride this morning. At 07.30 as I was pulling on my tights my Mrs informs me that there is no way she and my girls are standing on the sideline for my nippers U13 game (10.30 ko) and that I'd better sort my life out if I ever wanted sex again. Needless to say that at 10.30 I was dutifully stood on the sideline. We are out at 07.30 tomorrow instead.
