I would add Poyet to that list, however, we would of course have to poach him from Brighton.
-
AGREED, he was a great player, but he will never be a great coach.

I used to think that Alpine got a lot of stick on here because a lot of people regarded almost as a passtime, however, I am beginning to think they could well be right, I hope he does not do work for the Samaritans as the suicide rate will increase ten fold; it could be that the glass is indeed half full at times, and as A.P. said, are international scouting has improved and that is how we got hold of GOOLIE, Q.E.D. A.P. must have seen video and had recomendations from our scout or scouts. However, Alpine one thing you did get right is WIFM, I fully support that.

Hesitant To Post This, But Me I'm Out Of Patience

Whilst I agree with the sentiment, we have to put things in perspective, even when we were in the premiership especially with G.S. the writing in many ways was on the wall in terms of the club's direction. We had a board that either did not see or care as to the direction of the premier league, by that I mean the purchasing of silver ware, this after all was and is what Chelsea are doing and now they have been over taken by Man City. The Lowe board should have seeked alternative investment for the long term while Saint Mary's was being built, for what ever reason they chose not to pursue that route. Q.E.D. we got relegated not just because of the lack of finance and quality of players, but a whole list of managers who did not fit the grade as well, Lowe is then turfed out and the subsequent board invested heavily, too heavily, hoping to bounce back into the premiership, which as we all know did not work. So when analysed we probably had around five years of bad management with no real investment, to turn that around even with Markus coming in with his finance in one to two seasons is frankly asking a lot of any manager and a new team. If it was that easy then Chelsea should have won the Premiership the season after Abramovich took over, the same could be said of course about Man City, bottom line we do need to sit back sometimes and put things in perspective, I remember too well that everyone expected L.M. to get us promoted after we won the F.A. cup in 76, but it did not happen, so like every body I want us to get promoted this season and frankly if we do it will be a fantastic achievement, we just need to put it in perspective and perhaps look at Leeds who took three years. Ver good Paris, you must be about my age too, my little five year old sings it just because he thinks its funny.
-
I just suggested that one on another thread, I guess you must be about my age too to be able to remember that as well.

I have been trying to think of a song for him, the only one I can come up with and those that were boy scouts around 40 years ago will rmember it, "Gin gan goolie goolie goolie goolie watcha gin gan goo, no! I did not think so, I will get me coat and go then. WIFM

I am sure we have had a few pxxcks in the past, and a couple of txts.

Attacking midfielder, as nexstar said, exactly what we needed, perfect and hopefully well worth the wait.

Great post, however, perhaps we should show a little empathy toward those who continue to moan, after all they could be going through the change of life. WIFM

Thanks for posting that link Weston, beautifully written, it actually made feel like I was their. WIFM

I would like to add my thanks as well Wes, a great post and so pleased a real Saints fan managed to attend in the Church as well.

Whilst I am not qualified to write about A.P. and his tactics, I would have to agree with you about Poyet, it does seem to be a manager that can achieve results with out a large cheque book; as I have written before, ask any Leeds fan, and they will tell you that it was him and not Wise that got them close to promotion after a 15 point reduction. Should A.P. and Saints part company then he would be my first choice, with out any doubts.

Love it, that will work! WIFM

In a word EXCELLENT WIFM

If we want promotion then they have to have that mentality, this league and the championship are tough to get out of and being made a favourite does not help our cause; as every one we play will want to bite chunks out of us. WIFM

Quite right, a packed St Mary's in respect for Marcus would be fantastic, I would presume their will be a minutes silence as well; wish I could be their my self, however, in spirit I will be for sure.

I do not know about the rest of you, however, when you look at the amount of games played in a season and how important promotion is to Saints this season; do some of you think that the League cup could and should be dispenced with, I for one would not be sorry to see it go, but I would like to get a feel if I am in a minority regarding this issue. Not sure about that, but I have a feeling that she may have been to St Mary's, do you remember last year when potential buyers were coming in, they had a photograph of what was described at the time as the Swiss Contingent outside of St Mary"s; I am sure their was a young women in the photo; it may well not be her of course, just putting two and two together and probably getting five.

I for one have never read this before, so thanks Big John for posting it, as it does put things in perspective when read, I will copy this, frame it and put it up on my office wall as a constant reminder.

I have to agree with your statement, simply because all this will do is simply go around in circles as the only people that know will be family and lawyers of course, all I would add is that Marcus had fantastic business acumen and could not imagine for one second that he did not think of this before anyone else. Admin, shut this thread down please out of respect.
