  1. I have a source at SFC (have posted about him before) and had some lunch with him yesterday where he filled me in on some positive stuff. Cortese has ****ed off a few this year but the players love him because he is a big believer in player power. He is very into sports science and that sort of thing and will be employing a number of staff to analyse things like training and individual performance in games. It is why Adkins and him gets on so well apparently. In the words of my source we 'have too much money' (lol) but haven't spent too much on players because Cortese prepares to focus on the infrastructure because in the long term this is more beneficial. He apparently encouraged his staff to 'come to him with projects' and that if he liked them he would approve it regardless of cost (an example given was 20 million.) Cortese has a new five year plan which involves us being top five in the premiership. Now as you all know I have my reservations about Cortese, but I thought most of that was pretty positive and put me in a good mood.
  2. Yeah that annoyed me too lol.
  3. I have been defending Nick from some of the unwarranted abuse on here, but I have to say that it's clear recently that he is knocking the club for the most stupid things. He is clearly still annoyed about the season ticket thing (which he has a point with.) but there isn't a lot he can do. His comments about crowds are just bizarre.
  4. Lol. Everyone understands what you are saying. You think that white players are given more of a chance at our club than black players. 99% on this board have understood that but are of the opinion that it is utter horsesh*t.
  5. What an utterly pathetic thread which really deserves little discussion. Puncheon has acted like a bit of an idiot and so people dislike him. The sane thing would happen if he was white brown or slightly yellow. Do you honestly think that if puncheon was white that this would not have occurred? Some people on here strike me as slightly insane.
  6. Not they won't use next season as one of consolidation. That will certainly not be the aim anyway, where did u get that from?
  7. No update on getting him over?
  8. The reason he was visiting Ireland was to secure the Irish vote. Not much wrong with it IMO and for many thick Americans that will be probably be enough to win votes. I like Obama but if someone votes for him because of his then they are really dumb.
  9. Not a shame if we get good money and maybe a player in exchange
  10. In fairness, that is an accusation you could make on both sides, though reading this thread you would be forgiven for thinking that this was solely the atheist viewpoint...
  11. TBF nothing can definitively be 'proved' but I see what you are trying to say.
  12. I don't think those with a belief have any desire to defend their belief system. Faith for many can come from feelings they have experienced (speaking in tongues for example), experiencing how religion has changed people's lives or any other number of things including I suspect as you say it makes you feel good. My father for example, an extremely intelligent individual is also religious. He believes he has felt God through feelings he has personally experienced over a number of years and also what he has seen in other people, including things which have happened which cannot be explained by medical science. Now I'm not saying I believe him, but I have no doubt that he sincerely believes this to be true. Religion improves his life, improves the lives of his friends and relations by extension (not overtly, he isn't a preacher of any kind) and when people call him intellectually stunted, I find that pretty offensive when I know that is not the case.
  13. I suspect you are wrong. Nutters are nutters and would find an outlet with or without religion.
  14. That's irrelevant. It's still causing harm so there is clearly a problem with their belief. It's like suicide bombers who believe what they are doing is right. Every walk of life has it's share of nutters.
  15. Not my interpretation (I don't want to go in depth about my beliefs on here) but my post above about christians covers quite a few people I know. Many just don't believe that the words contained in the bible are particularly relevant to their christian belief and it is the underlying message along with their individual interpretation of what being a 'christian' means to them which they find important. Believe it or not, not every member of a religion is evil or a nut job who can't wait to indoctrinate their kids into the religion or ram it down people's throats. I think if you knew some of the people I know (from all religions) you would be surprised.
  16. And if that decision kills them then yes it is hurting them. Sorry I forgot how much of a pain you can be, I will qualify my statement with unless it hurts people directly or indirectly.
  17. Some christians I know believe that the bible is more of a guidebook offering guidance for how to live life etc and that reading too in depth or too literally should be discouraged. Others believe that the bible is largely meaningless and yet believe in a christian God regardless, yet follow what they believe is the correct christian way to live.
  18. Depends upon your interpretation.
  19. As far as I'm concerned you can believe what you want as long as it makes you happy.
  20. Pretty sure that counts as hurting someone.
  21. Personally I have no problem with someone questioning the belief of someone else. It's getting abusive or nasty I don't like just because someone has faith and someone else can't understand why they would.
  22. And you considered my response I take it?
  23. And so because some people who belonged to a religion gave you a bad experience, it is thus OK to tarnish EVERYONE who has a religious belief?
  24. But that generalises all religion. No doubt there are many examples of the misuse of religion causing conflict and even some religions themselves, but that does not make all religions or the idea of faith and religion evil and a negative thing.
  25. And even if their religion is utter rubbish, how can something like that be anything other than a good thing? For many on here it seems offensive to them that someone has a faith. Worry about your own lives and let other people get on with theirs.
