Would love to mate but I bought the iphone from a shop and I have no idea who the guy is!

Erm well yes because there are more considerations than just a 'child being loved.' That is a part (a very important part.) but there are other factors to take into consideration. I'm not saying same sex couples should not adopt, just that loving male and female couples should be given preference over loving same sex couples.

What if the alternative was not a traditional male female relationship but a home or being passed from foster parent to foster parent? (Not having a pop Turkish because I largely agree with you, just interested in your thoughts.)

Not surprising.

I think this is an interesting topic. Clearly in an ideal world where families consisted of a male and a female then the ideal is to keep children within that traditional setting. Obviously the world doesn't work like that and I see no reason why a gay couple cannot foster or adopt a child if the alternative for that child is worse than being adopted by a same sex couple (which may lead to some confusion or identity issues on the part of the child). However, in this case that is not the consideration. For a start, this just seems like some sort of publicity stunt or a new toy for Elton. Elton John is an extremely hateful individual, from being rude petulant and throwing childlike tantrums at photographers to his past drug abuse and feeling it appropriate to joke about his anal dildo in an interview from a couple of months ago he is clearly not a good role model for a child to have. On top of that, he is also an old man and it is unkind on a child to be raised by someone who may need someone to look after himself soon. I feel strongly that parents should be discouraged from having children later in life purely because it deprives the child of so much. So in summary, gay and lesbian couples should be able to adopt children IF they are the best option available (with a loving male female partnership being the ideal) but Elton John is too old and a terrible role model to adopt a child. If it was anyone else they would have been refused but because it is Elton it is allowed and that is wrong.

Coogan is a legend and totally correct with his comments. Anyone who created Partridge has my utter respect anyway. -
Should have been subbed last night for Nguessun.

The refusal to sell a season ticket at Southampton FC

It wasn't the odd nutter it was a significant amount on here. You are trying to rewrite history now.some of the people who were praising those silly decisions are the ones now calling ni a tw*t and that this silly decision by the club not to give an explanation should be applauded. -
Why does that matter? I A good speech is a good speech and I think it shows an interesting way forward.

I would argue that the extremism which causes people to blow themselves up is the most concerning form. It was an encouraging speech and nice to know the country can question these things without being accused of racism.

No they weren't! With the photographer thing especially we were told by many on here what a good business decision it was and how it was revolutionary. You have a very selective memory. -

Insightfully telling us the page number. Well done. -
When I decide whether I like a song or not, one of the first things I look at is lyrics. It says a lot about whether someone has actually bothered to write a song with meaning or if they have just thrown it together for money. Obviously all words can have a place in songs but using the F word IMO in general display a lack of imagination.

Firstly that isn't what he did. He contacted the club in private more than once in private and received no reply. Following that presumably he told some mates who then told some people on the forums and he only made a comment once people were asking him online whether it was true. He wasn't seeking media exposure to my knowledge. Also you have to remember that buying on a match by match basis is a lot more expensive so it inconveniences him in more ways than one. I don't think that the fact it is legal makes much of a difference, and I don't think whether he sought media exposure or not is relevant. I just think he deserves an explanation. -

Because (as I said in the original quote) "others were talking about Nick as if him being a tw*t in their eyes means that he is not entitled to an explanation whereas in my eyes you are entitled to one no matter who you are." I was discussing where NC could improve in general as a separate comment unrelated to the Nick season ticket issue whereas others were airing their problems about Nick and suggesting that because of them he was not entitled to an opinion whereas really his merits as fan are totally irrelevant when discussing his entitlement to an opinion. -

I see invaluable comments continue to be added by posters in order to debate the issues at hand.
