Cortese clarifies the current position (Daily Telegraph)
hypochondriac replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
As the person who motivated most of the comments because of your lazy guernsey man comment, it's a bit rich of you to say something like that. -
But we can surely criticise Elton for this in the hope that negative publicity dissuades a similar situation from occurring in future.
-
If I was trying to adopt a child then your argument would be relevant. I am not so it is not.
-
I think that's a fair comment.
-
What have I got to do with anything? I'm commenting on Elton's suitability to be a father.
-
I think 63 is too old to have a child no matter who you are.
-
I believe the child could potentially be significantly deprived and would be concerned about Elton acting as a father figure due to everything I have already mentioned. As gingeletiss says, he would not have been able to adopt in this country. It is interesting that it has happened in America where celebrity and status counts for so much. I feel sorry for the child.

Unbelievable. I could not disagree more. -
Exactly! except the bible bit (amazing that I am agreeing with you ).
-
Obviously that is not what I was saying.

You are being extremely petty. MLT is a saints fan and is known as such to the general public (and I am certain would say so himself if asked.) -
None of those things matter. It isn't about weighing up pros and cons. Any good he does does not cancel out everything else. Or are you suggesting that a child would be less damaged if they get beaten up by a parent who then gives half their earnings to charity?

Elton to my knowledge has taken numerous drugs, displayed violent and abusive behaviour, punched cameramen, went on national TV to boast about how his anal dildo is his most precious possession, been addicted to alcohol and cocaine, blew 30 million quid in 2 years and spent hundreds of thousands on flowers (nothing wrong with that in itself of course but is indicative of his attitude generally). You only have to watch that documentary they did a few years back to see what sort of man he is (not one fit to bring up a child IMO.) Of course he could have dramatically changed in the last couple of months but I doubt it very much.
-
What are you on about? I disagree with Turkish in some areas and hence why I have mostly not commented on what he has said. I just fundamentally believe that Elton John should not be a father at his age and knowing what he has done in the past. It's nothing to do with anyone else, I'm expressing an opinion.
-
That just reaffirms my belief that there are some odd people on here. Thankfully the vast majority (even joensuu) on here agree on this issue.
-
But I'm not trying to adopt a child. So the fact that he is 63 is not a problem to you? What a strange world, or rather what strange posters there are on here.
-
Seriously? You are seriously trying to defend the rights of a 63 year old man (who has demonstrated on numerous ocassions both in prvate and public why he would not make a good father) to have a child? And what does having talent or being a lover of sport have to do with anything? Here is my first post on the subject:
-
Elton should not be adopting children because he is a 63 year old male and acts like a spoilt child with a temper. End of.
-
It's pathetic but I expected it.

I am not aware if MLT has not tried to contact the club in the past to try to resolve the situation. Cortese's disdain for MLT who he believed helped Pinnacle was clear at the last fans forum. If we also look at how NI was ignored about the season ticket issue then it is quite plausible that Matt was ignored had he tried to find a sensible resolution. If this were the case and MLT felt he had exhausted other avenues then it is possible that he felt the best course of action was to make his concerns public in the hope that it would publically shame the club into some sort of constructive dialogue (as the Sun did very successfully.).

EDL 10,000 People March (Oh Ok then maybe just a 1000)
hypochondriac replied to Gemmel's topic in The Lounge
Oh stop being so hysterical. People are adults and can make up their own minds. I don't support the EDL but equally I am sure there are quite a few who are not racist (though I am certain there are more than enough racists within the group.) I'm not going to get worked up about it though, what difference does posting a topic about something which is in the news make to anyone if it is posted on here? It's not like saintsweb is some sort of EDL recruiting ground. -

You see to me, Southampton FC has and always will be a family, even (believe it or not) after the current employees have left. As a family, SFC should be inclusive and not exclusive. I find it extremely sad that an event to celebrate 125 years of SFC and attended by a load of fans and club legends is not going ahead without the complete backing of the club. Now the club could ring up tomorrow, say lets put it behind us and we could all move together on the same page. I think the fact that the club refuses to do so is very sad.
