It sounds to me like he's more worried about how much they stick to his system than the actual results on the pitch. In one of the earlier games he said he was annoyed and unhappy because we hadn't played his system that well despite winning and here he sounds almost satisfied despite getting spanked at home because we've got closer to tippy tappy possession. I wonder if we play even closer to it on Tuesday and lose whether he will continue to be quite pleased with how things went.

He was the worst player on the pitch but I don't think it's his fault.
-
Defense needs to be Bazunu Kwp THB Bednarek Manning Charles But we need to play the fullbacks in their proper positions and not however Martin has been trying to play them as it doesn't work. With Downes possibly injured, we may have little choice but to play Smallbone but if we could just get him to play like he played in the first couple of games that would be brilliant.
-
Who is meant to be shielding the back four? I feel as if that's probably our most important position to make this system work and it isn't.
-
Yep. Could sneak playoffs if we get Stephens back and Stewart recovers and gets into some form. No chance of anything else playing this way though.

There were moments in the first half where Leicester wide players were just stood on their own with no full backs anywhere near them. I don't think the full backs have any idea what they are supposed to be doing. We've seen it with the amount of crosses that come into our box and with the lack of closing down. Similarly we had Edozie doing defensive work again, in front of the defense for one of the goals. I don't think a number of players know where they should be when we are defending which is what us causing all these problems. KWP is an excellent player yet he looks appaling. It has to be the coaching.

I'll be honest I thought he wasnt bad tonight. With everything else going to shit around him I thought he comes out with some credit.
-
But we know he's not terrible at all. It's obviously these tactics and the way it's played. Both him and Manning look like two of our worst players. It's not a coincidence.
-
I think some of our attacking play is nice enough. I can't see what shape we're supposed to be in when we are defending though. We have spells in games where we dominate and look the superior team but it doesn't last and we make terrible choices that lead to numerous chances and goals for the opposition.
-
That's the first time this season that I completely disagree with him and think he sounds like a loony. We weren't watching the same game if he thinks that.

I don't think saints fans are asking for much. Just a competitive team, a bit of entertainment and some grit and determination. What we saw today and in the last game was a total mess and is a result of us trying to reinvent the wheel and asking perfectly decent players for this level to do things they aren't comfortable with in the name of some ideology. I just want to be competitive in football games and blow the philosophy. I never saw us with any of this rubbish the last time we won promotion.
-
He was absolutely terrible today and we know he's been consistently good for us. He's confused and the tactics mean he doesn't know what he's doing. Either the communication is wrong or the system has meant it isn't clear what is going on.
-
I get that this style may take time to implement but ffs why make it way more difficult for yourself than you have to? Just go back to basics, have a bit of the tippy tappy passing but why on earth set up in defence to leave us entirely open on the break? OK so we didn't help ourselves tonight with individual errors that led to goals, but if you lose to a couple of mistakes you can almost take that. We just make it so easy for the opposition to run at us and invite pressure.
-
I don't buy that the players aren't good enough. It's entirely the tactics, it's confused, error strewn and amateurish.
-
I said today that this could be a harbinger of things to come. Ominous that we don't seem to have done anything differently. We could have had another goal or two but they could have had another four.
-
The tactics are ridiculous. Can Martin make some fundamental changes as we absolutely have enough players to do well in this league. If he can't then this will keep happening until he gets sacked.
-
We've got a half decent squad. We're just playing suicidal football.
-
Surely he won't play Holgate? That would be mental.
-
I'm guessing it's Charles and Bednarek at the back unless Jan doesn't make it and then it's Bellis.
-
Firstly that's not quite the same thing is it when it's the local paper struggling to survive. The Daily Echo isn't the Athletic. Secondly, by posting it on here you're making this forum liable which imo is a shitty thing to do.

I think it's OK to find ways to read it, but it's a bit much to copy and paste it on here.

Golden thread. @Saint_clarkdid Mike osman's brother ever sue you?

Still think it was a great transfer window?

Martin has said all season and preseason that the fans needed to stick with it because we would have bad days. -

It's one game and much too early to say, particularly as most of the players didn't start the game. -
But also cause for hope that this was hopefully a one off.
