I think if we're honest after everything that happened last week that press conference was about as good as he could have expected it to be. It will all be an irrelevance whatever he said or did in it if we lose on Saturday. It really is all about results for him now. We already know his difficiencies as a communicator and his abrasive personality. He must know that he has to win on Saturday.

Just watched the press conference. One issue is when he's asked how he we will look to counter Wolves specifically. He just says by being front footed, aggressive and potent. That's basically the same answer he gives every week so then not really anythibg unique about our preparations this week to counter wolves. He does come across like he's a very basic tactician without a Premier league level knowledge of tactics.
-
Definitely had some strong words about his presentation. Clearly been told to take responsibility.
-
Tbf there's not really much he could say in this press conference that would be acceptable. He already shit the bed last week. This conference is just about using some wet wipes to try to mop bits of it up.
-
Very good.

We were shit under Ralph at the end. We are worse now.
-
We know because the enlightened man of God used his linguistic talents to call a Spaniard a son of a bitch in his native tongue.
-
Whe is you say it out loud it sounds even more moronic. What possible reason is there to not at least have him o the the bench and give him a chance over someone who is a proven failure.
-
Wow. That's more impressive in less than 2 minutes than anything I've seen from Jones. Lucky Burnley.
-
A fan base giving an initial impression of not wanting a manager is not the same as that same fan base not giving him a chance, as proven when poch came in and the majority of the fan base didn't want him yet gave him a chance to show what he can do. Jones has had that same chance and we've actually got worse which was almost impossible from where we were.
-
Oh god. I'm seeing some maximum cringe chants for Saturday on twitter. There are no words for some of our fans.
-
No it doesn't. Half the fan base saying they didn't want him to be the manager doesn't mean that they're all being personally insulting or that they want him to fail. It's an Initial impression based on his interviews, his background and his previous record. Probably more of the fanbase would have answered no in that poll about Poch when he first arrived but he immediately got fans on board with his actions. The same cannot be said for Jones at all and it isn't the fan's fault that he has deficiencies. Every fan base would be the same in our position and that's proven by the reaction of pundits and those outside the club in the last week.

If you've got some examples of multiple posters definitively writing him off before we've played the first I'd be interested to see it. Let's not rewrite history.
-
But even then, almost all the comments are completely fair. Many saying they worry he won't be up to it but nothing definitive or personal as some have claimed. The fanbase generally gave him a chance to show what he could do and that support ended after Forest.
-
It's kind of incredible the active dislike he has inspired in the fanbase. I have never seen anything quite like it in such a short space of time.
-
Yep. It's all those intangibles that you can't see in an excel spreadsheet that make it clear that he just isn't up to it. If you focus too much on the metrics then you're going to miss all that stuff. It's also what makes it clear why we missed all that sort of stuff in the summer with our signings. On paper we had a very strong squad but they missed all the intangibles like experience and ability to fight a relegation battle.
-
Most people were underwhelmed but prepared to give him a chance. I actually praised him and thought he spoke well at his first interview. It's only really from Forest onwards that the vast majority have been against him.
-
What they mean by that is that his metrics give him belief that over time the league situation will improve. He's taking a longer term view looking at his metrics and he's not going to be swayed by short term thing spoke immediate results. He's going to look very silly if we have a heavy defeat against wolves and he sacks him anyway (or more likely in a few weeks when we are mathematically down.)
-
A conversation I could believe. If he was formally offered the job in the summer then it would be madness to turn it down.
-
Jesus soggy do you have to bring the government into every single one of your posts about saints? It's really odd.
-
I just don't see a man with his ego turning down the chance to manage in the Premier league.
-
I don't believe that Jones would turn down an offer to manage in the prem. Knowing what we know about him that seems completely out of character.
-
Ffs. Last time I type on here whilst listening to a podcast.

Now we know for definite that Nathan is here for Saturday, I'm kind of intrigued to see what happens. I do wonder if the formation or the players will be radically different now he's supposedly going to cast off the shackles imposed by others onto him. Almost certainly there will be little change or something mad like 5 at the back and defensive but it's interesting nonetheless.

I was unsettled by the first fans forum earlier in the year. To be honest I think they've cared more about their system and their experiment than wanting to stay in the league. I think at some point they may have stayed thinking that relegation is a price worth paying as long as they can continue their grand plan.
