Israel know they won't destroy Hamas, but they can cripple them and hamper their operations for a number of years. The surrounding Arab countries already want them wiped off the map.

Presume you said the same about EDL marches? They'd be the first to tell you that their marches weren't hateful.
  3. I don't think he's that good but I'd still have him in my team. Not sure when Ross Stewart is fit though. He's clearly someone who can score some goals in this league, but he's not good enough for the prem.

Yep. Give back the hostages, give up the individuals who went into Israel to commit these crimes and publically destroy the tunnels in Gaza and let's see how long this conflict continues for. If Palestine did that then there really wouldn't be any further justification for Israel to continue. We all know they won't though. Because they want to inflict pain and suffering on Jews and wipe them out.

I also find it bizarre that some people think that Israel reacting like thjs is going to lead to more terror attacks in the future. The reality is that there will be terror attacks no matter what they do. If their reaction had been to do nothing or to suddenly decide to live in peace and harmony and lay down their arms, Hamas woukd use it as an opportunity to kill as many Jews as possible. Hamas doesn't want peace, it doesn't matter what the Israelis do. The Israeli response isn't designed to end attacks - they aren't naive - it's to hamper their ability to attack effectively for as long as possible. From the Israeli point of view, if they kill most of Hamas and destroy what they've built, it should reduce the effectiveness of their attacks for quite a number of years so I can see the attraction. Here's an old but accurate cartoon.

Maybe the Muslims based in the UK who went on the anti Israel March would elict more sympathy if they did an equivalent March which was pro Palestinian and anti Hamas. We all know why they won't though.

It wasn't pathetic in the slightest. Many many of the people on the marches are hateful that's a fact. It was disgusting to hear some of the chants and see the slogans. Imagine being Jewish and living in London right now. I went to a bar mitzvah in London a few years ago and they put bodyguards on the doors to prevent attacks. I can't imagine what it's like there at the moment.

Why do we hold Israel to such a standard, suggesting they aren't allowed to attack or go after Hamas lest civilians are harmed yet almost nothing is said about Hamas deliberate basing themselves in the civilian populations and using human shields? If the aim is to de-escalate the situation, why don't Hamas just give back every hostage they have today?

I see some MPs and celebs are making fools of themselves by using the phrase from the river to the sea and getting themselves in hot water.

He also makes a mealy mouthed qualifying statement about the atrocities from Hamas at the beginning of a diatribe so he can then focus solely on any wrongs he perceives to have been committed by Israel and that's all he mentions for weeks on end. He knows he can't ignore Hamas entirely. He's an odious toad. As are many on the left who do the same thing.

I know we've seen some depressing evidence to the contrary by a minority on here but you'd hope there'd be no rape apologists on here or some whataboutism attached to the condemnation of acts like this. "it didn't happen in a vacuum".
  13. Apparently he's got a terrible disciplinary record with loads of similar type of infractions. Doubt he wanted to kill him but it's reckless and dangerous and he should be held responsible.

Looks like that lady they showed the body of towards the start of this - Shabi Louk - was gang raped, tortured and beheaded. They also phoned her mother to say she was alive and withdrew money from her account after finding out her Pin number. Barbaric.

Worth noting as well that the hospital missile story died a death once it became clear that it wasn't something clear cut (and actually a fair bit of evidence that Hamas were responsible.) I wonder if that would have been the case had there been definitive proof that it was the Israelis?

Sounds pretty intelligent to me. Given what could happen, it seems like a better scenario than many/most alternatives to be honest if they can pull it off.
  17. Yes plus it means we can refresh the squad without being overly reliant on Holgate, Charles, Adams and Aribo who I don't feel are really up to it.
  18. Yep. Seems unlikely we will have everyone fully fit and unsuspended all at once for extended periods of time.
  19. No I don't miss the last few years of the prem. I certainly miss playing there under poch and koeman. I miss the European campaigns they were amazing. Watching my team in Vitesse, Prague and even Milan was incredible and is not something I'll forget in a hurry. I enjoy doing well in the league like this year but I know if we don't go up that we will lose most of our good players and get worse and worse. I'll certainly be missing the prem if we lose Downes, THB, KWP and Sulemana and end up mid table next year.
  20. Good man management to give him a chance to show he deserves the spot.
  21. Odd response. Writing an opinion on here about the future has no bearing on my ability to enjoy the season nor does it mean that I'm worrying about the future. I'm perfectly capable of enjoying this season, looking at what we are doing well and poorly whilst also thinking about what the club has said about it's intention to play this way should we get promoted. The two things aren't mutually exclusive.
  22. I certainly don't want him gone, but I am of the opinion that if we ever get promoted with him (not sure we ever will) then we will be straight back down with a pitiful points tally. Not a chance does a newly promoted team not get torn a new one most weeks being this open. When you go up then pragmatism is the order of the day at least until a few seasons in when you've sufficiently increased the quality in your squad.
  23. That's a remarkable statistic. I would surprised if that isn't the longest period in the football league.
  24. Presumably that's the team you would like rather than the team we will actually play. Manning will play not Bree and Smallbone instead of Charles.
  25. I think the worry is that getting results how we are playing currently just isn't sustainable. Eventually we won't be able to keep getting last minute goals. I can't remember a game where we have been two goals clear or where we don't let the opposition back in. I'm not asking for that every game obviously but a few woukd be nice and give confidence that our form can be sustained.
