I hope so. It might be selfish but I was hoping for a signing to get me excited or at least get an attacking signing that seems like a bit of a coup and show the rest of the division we mean business after all of our sales.
-
Personally I'd rather play Ameyew, Tella and Edozie who are our own players and can learn during the season. All of them have looked pretty good so far. My worry is that we wi sell Tella and end up with Ryan Fraser taking his place.
-
I'd file both these loanee signings under solid but nothing special. I do wonder what our scouting network have done all summer of this is what gems we are unearthing. I did expect us to buy some of the best of the championship that wasn't yet in the prem rather than out of favour prem players on their way down.

That comment could come back to bite you on the arse.
-
Same thing for Leicester?
-
Sounds to me more like Swansea turned us down for Wood so we settled for plan B.
-
Odd that Leeds have had the same drop, have barely brought in any money yet can afford multiple millions on a striker.
-
Is Fraser the Tella replacement?
-
Padding the squad with some experience then. Underwhelming so far
-
I wonder how those players who are just waiting for us to sign them are getting on? I'm assuming it's not Holgate or Downes as they are both loans.
-
Is Holgate better than Bednarek at the back? Any reason he can't get into the Everton squad despite their defence being appaling?
-
Don't worry. Wilcox is a genius.
-
If that's the extent of our defensive business then it's bitterly disappointing.
-
Probably that guy from the lower leagues abroad.
-
Well in that case mistakes happen. I think he's been alright in a back 4 that will be different in a weeks time. Let's give him a few games with a settled first 11 midfield and defence .
-
He also took time off after a death threat. To me, the clip reported on the BBC was more about justifying a decision he made after the event that he worded poorly
-
People should watch the interview. I think he comes accross rather well.
-
To be fair to him he has had three competitive games with a new team. It takes time to build a rapport with those around you.
-
So one poster made a badly worded post which possibly suggested spending 100 million. No other poster as said anythibg like that as far as I can see.
-
No I wasn't complaining about selling our best players, I was saying that selling our best players isn't an action that gives me faith in those in charge. Building a great team to properly challenge for automatic promotion is the actions I expect which will give me faith in them. Sports Republic failed last year and their appointees this year are under pressure to deliver and do things differently. What they do this week will potentially give them a track record of success and thus deserving of faith in the future. Talk is cheap like I said.
-
That second one says we may spend 50 million on signings. We've spent 15 so far and imo we could get close to that with remaining signings so i don't consider that to be outlandish. No idea what that first poster was saying as it looks clumsily worded to me.
-
Who? I haven't seen anyone.
-
Ffs where did I say I didn't expect it? Of course I expected it but doing something expected doesn't then mean I have faith. What provides faith is leaving the squad in a stronger position than they are now which is what Martin has continually said they will do. They have a week to show it and prove they can be trusted.
-
Selling all our best players - despite getting some good prices-is not something that has persuaded me that we are building a team capable of automatic promotion. Downes, Charles and Manning are decent signings but it's not get enough and certainly not enough if we sell more which it looks like we may do. It's not flapping, it's being realistic about where we are and what they need to do - just like many people were last summer and too many shouted them down.
-
I'm persuaded by actions not words. They have a week to win trust and to back up their impressive words. There's a lot riding on this week.
