The Sunday Times - Southampton put up for sale at £250m
hypochondriac replied to The Odd Guy's topic in The Saints
Yes but if what they are reporting is true then he's talking to Gao not kat. -
I'm sure we will get a cm in before the end of the window but it is frustrating that we always leave these positions we are most in need of till the last minute. We then normally wait a few weeks before they are ready to start and suddenly they will have missed a big chunk of the start of the season.

But if you read the article that says it isn't her decision to make. -

Can't imagine she was that thorough but then you don't know what was said to her behind the scenes. She's also not some professional businesswoman as far as I know the club was just thrust into her lap. I don't think she's ever tried to deliberately screw the club over. -

I think that's a tad unfair. I can't imagine she would have gone ahead with Gao with hindsight. I'm preparednto accept that she realises she made a mistake and is being more cautious now. -

Interesting because I was told she was happy. If she doesn't want to sell then I'm guessing she isn't. I think she's been taking for a ride by Gao as much as the fanbase. -
Something has very clearly changed from the end of last season and the beginning of this one and the likelihood is it's something they wanted to implement for the start of this season. What we did after lockdown was working why would we change?
-
I really really really hope we just go back to what was working well at the end of last season. Absolutely no need to change things at all until we have players capable of playing that way.
-
What does dressing like a weirdo have to do with being gay? That sounds a bit homophobic to be honest.
-
I don't think it's unreasonable to have expected a new cm signings by now because imo it's costing us points. I think most saints fans are realistic and realise that we won't be making a ton of superstar signings but as a minimum we should have a cm in.
-
This saints team just disappoints and upsets me. We all know we can play much much better than this so I'm afraid I have to place the blame at the managers door with these tactic which don't really make any sense at all
-
I think we will get in a cm. Probably a youngster with potential. You're right though, we really need an option that can change a game.
-
That was my point. I totally understand selling them if they aren't in our plans but someone like Reed especially it's galling to see a team like Fulham having more options in midfield than we currently have. We go into every season over the last few years with gaping holes in our team and we've been quite lucky with injuries but that luck will run out eventually.
-
It sounds ridiculous to be honest. We've always touted our big interest in sports science and all the effort we go into who on earth authorised this?
-
Again, I don't think selling Reed and Lemina to Fulham is weakening the squad. I do think it's reducing our current potential options for this season whilst strengthening a rival though. That obviously changes if we do bring in the required midfield strengthening.
-
I don't think we have weakened last years squad by letting Lemina and Reed go. My point is that we were fortunate that we got through last year with the limited cm options that we had given that both of the aforementioned were out on loan. I think our transfer business often leaves the impression that we are looking way down our list after missing out on many of our first choices and we leave ourselves very light in certain areas (cb when we sold vvd for example). The guff about wanting to work with a small squad is pretty much just spin to cover the fact that we can't afford much.
-
I find it weird that we have allowed Lemina and Reed to leave to a prem rival and haven't replaced either of them yet. I woild suggest that Fulham currently have more options in cm than us now largely because they have two of our players.
-
Indeed. Ideally you'd actually want two cm signings so jwp can have a rest every once in a while.
-
We still have a load of players out on loan that we can't get rid of or the likes of forster on obscene wages. Our core squad is pretty tiny though and we have almost nothing on the bench. Ideally we would get at least another 3 in.
-
We have djenepo who lacks any match sharpness and that's literally it without boufal yet I've been told we are getting rid of him too.
-
Honestly though who else is there to play? We are bare bones on the bench and who wants to rely on long and Obafemi for anything? Vestergaard maybe? We don't have a replacement rb or lb, no other cms. It's a mess.
-
It has to be complacency. Truly extraordinary that the club have allowed the pkayers to arrive back unfit. Fine all those who Ralph is referring to its a disgrace.
-
Surely the club are also to blame if they've allowed the players to get to a point of being unfit during the break?
-
To be honest if we lose ings this window then we might as well give up and accept relegation. Unfit players are grossly unprofessional. Awful.
-
What's changed to cause such a dramatic shift in gears from where we were just a few weeks ago? Worrying that we can regress so much with no urgency whatsoever. I can't sit through and watch this tripe. I'm fine to lose but when we play like this for an extended number of games it's just a complete chore to watch.
