  1. I don't recall any rage from myself about silly things like that. I did get a bit upset about the mass rape of underage girls though but that's something most sane people would feel emotion over. Maybe ask yourself why you don't appear to care so much about it.
  2. The level of vitriol being flung at someone for merely being associated with a high profile Conservative and terms like "NeoTories" tends to mark someone out as being from the left if not a Corbynite. In my experience, moderates tend to sound slightly more reasonable.
  3. Given they've been phoning these people as well as interviewing them under caution in some cases, I imagine it takes up a fair amount of time. That's without even mentioning the hit to police credibility with the public for pursuing this nonsense. Besides, any amount of time wasted on non crime is time that could be spent on actual crimes. 2 extra crimes investigated per police force per day would be a good start.
  4. Any quoting of religious texts is odd. My only issue is when people actually start following them and harming people in the process otherwise they can do what they like.
  5. Nice to see the tolerant and loving left wading into the discussion. A different kind of politics from them.
  6. Source?
  7. Source?
  8. That's not what I said was it. At a time when resources are "stretched to breaking point", is investigating non crime hate incidents like supposedly transphobic limericks on twitter a wise use of police resources? Instead of recording 87,000 non crimes over the past five years, might it have been better to try and get some of those thefts investigated? I wonder if they had concentrated on that instead how many more could have been looked into. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2020/01/05/police-forces-record-thousands-hate-incidents-year-even-though/
  9. It's really weird that you think anyobe has been trying to defend anything in the Bible.
  10. Like transphobic limericks on twitter? https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2019/01/24/man-investigated-police-retweeting-transgender-limerick/ Is the cataloguing of non hate crime incidents - these are non criminal incidents perceived by the victim to be motivated by hate - an effective and efficient use of stretched police resources?
  11. Thank goodness. I was worried there would be abother Muslim story up next but we've managed to get an evil Christian one in instead. Phew.
  12. Not looking great for the euro... https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-02-11/euro-s-decline-reflects-political-turmoil-economic-woes
  13. "relaxed." lol.
  14. Erm you know I was agreeing with you right?
  15. Egg has some ridiculous opinions but he's 100% right here.
  16. So then Corbynistas, are trans women women? Are trans men men? If the answer is anything other than yes then you're transphobic and you're getting expelled from the party if corbyn with tits gets in: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-51465800
  17. If the majority of a country is white, then it is natural to see the majority of any crime being committed by white people. The concern is when communities are disproportionately involved in any particiular crime. If Hasidic Jews were wildly disproportionately involved in burglaries I'd want to investigate it to understand why this is the case. How is this any different? The disproportionate number raises questions about attitudes within that community. People just don't like the statistics. One of the main defendants in the Rotherham case argued as his defence at trial that it was his religious right to have sex with these girls. It's simply a nonsense to suggest that religion is not a factor.
  18. And again, if there were widespread examples of slavery in the UK in 2020 and numbers of seemingly ordinary people were doing it and using Bible passages for justification then I'd be at the front of the queue to push for justice for the victims and to demand an investigation into their motivations. If a ton of people were currently following a literal interpretation of the bible like the Westboro Baptist Church and were abusing gay people in the streets then I'd be calling that out too.
  19. Can you really not see a distinction between a priest or a number of priests using their positions of authority to abuse boys (absolutely wrong and should/is being investigated) and the normalisation of rape of mostly white women from within some South Asian communities to the extent that siblings were letting each other know so they can both be involved? Additionally, Reports that I can see suggest there have been about 500 allegations of sexual abuse from the clergy since the turn of the century, over the same period sexual abuse just from Rotherham grooming gangs alone amount to 1400 cases and that's before you mention Bristol, Rochdale, Oxford, Aylesbury, Peterborough, Newcastle and Manchester. I've been clear, all sexual abuse needs investigating and perpetrators prosecuted, however in these specific cases there is more going on and it needs a proper investigation as promised by Sajid Javid.
  20. That seems pretty conclusive to me.
  21. Precisely. For some there is quite obviously a religious component to this. Why would we turn a blind eye to that if recognising that fact could help to prevent this. That article makes me feel sick by the way, it's upsetting and horrendous.
  22. The most recent Census in 2011 highlights that in England and Wales, 80 per cent of the population were white British. Asian (Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, other) ‘groups’ made up 6.8 per cent of the population; black groups 3.4 per cent; Chinese groups 0.7 cent,Arab groups 0.4 per cent and other groups 0.6 per cent.
  23. Like you say, the cases are different and we aren't taking about imams so that's just speculation.
  24. I think that's debatable but culture certainly plays a part. Some of the perpetrators were quoting religious scripture whilst engaging in the abuse and using it as justification for the acts. I think a proper impartial investigation including hearing from practising Muslims who believe it is at least partly due to an interpretation of Islam would be beneficial.
  25. I'm not going to bother responding to soggy on this point any more he's just reading what he wants to read. He's an ignoramus.
