Lemina has to start.

If he sung something offensive then it may be that he deserved a three year ban but the example used in the article was "does your boyfriend know you're here." presumably if they knew he sung something worse then they would have printed that. Most of the comment on here about how disgraceful and disgusting these comments are and how it amounts to hate speech and prejudice I imagine are talking about some imagined slur of which we have no knowledge. Of it later comes to light that he was singing something fill of hate filled rhetoric than clearly that changes things but from what we know now it's an absurd overreaction.
-
I assume you mean something along similar lines such as "does your imam know you're here?" If so then yes. Offensive chanting about being a Muslim is clearly very different and should obviously be banned in the same way that homophobic chants should.
-
I can confidently say that football should never be for types like you who work themselves up into an absolute state about some morons singing an unfunny chant about the population of a city. If you're genuinely as upset as you seem over something so minor then he's absolutely right- you appear much too sensitive to subject yourself to the torment of a live football match. In fact, if I were you I'd probably steer clear of the majority of social interactions to avoid any sort of offence.
-
Not giving a sh*t about some generic and boring song isn't a disgraceful attitude, but suggesting that singing does your boyfriend know you're here is tantamount to hate speech absolutely is. I've often attended football with a mate of mine who's gay. I just asked him what he thought of those chants and his response was as I expected- he couldn't care less about rubbish like that unless it is some offensive slur aimed at him personally. The vast majority of people don't tend to overreact and call for three year banning orders for a generic chant aimed at a rival city though. I assume you were calling for similar bans when that ji sung park song was being sung by United fans a few years back?
-
"does your boyfriend know you're here" does not in any way constitute hate speech. It's a crime for its lack of wit and originality and should be discouraged for that primarily but lumping that sort of innocuous chant in with actual hate speech and offensive chanting just undermines the times that action should be taken to punish real crimes.

It's a couple of songs that play on stereotypes about Brighton being full of gay people. The vast majority of people of all sexual persuasions would see it for the harmless unoriginal and boring songs that they are and either ignore them or chant back. In exactly the same way that Cardiff fans react to sheep ****gers or northerners react to songs about eating off the floor. All these songs are absolute cr*p but if anyone is actually offended by a generic chant like that then they need to take a long look at themselves and probably refrain from going out in public lest a sideways glance upset them.

Tbf that isn't what he said...

Is he linked to the bloke who wrote to Mr Goa?
-
Of course there will but the crackdowns only started when the fully loaded kodi boxes became mainstream and anyone with a very limited knowledge of tech could watch the streams. As long as they can stop that from happening, I imagine they won't be trying as hard.
-
The aim isn't to stop it, the aim is to make it as complex and difficult as possible to access the live streams so that the average bloke gives up and pays for sky again.

Proud of the lads tonight for one of the only times this season. Well done to the manager and the players despite the painful loss.
-
I'd be interested to know what did happen.
-
Absolutely this and these were all markedly better than virtually every game this season on Sunday. THAT was the main difference.

doddisalegend seems to be the only poster banging this particular drum. In the majority of games this season we have looked pedestrian and posed little or no threat. West Ham 2nd half, Watford, Liverpool and Wolves to name a few. We din't look quite so bad against Burnley and United but we were still poor and lacked much of a threat in front of goal. It's not true to try to claim that what we saw on Sunday was not very different from the dross we have had to sit through. I've watched every game and for once I felt like I actually got my moneys worth.

Football clubs and gender neutral pronouns.

Common sense statements like that have no place here. -
Exactly. Lets not forget that 7 of those goals came in just two games, suggesting that the opposition we played in those two were particularly poor. 6 goals in the remaining 11 games is incredibly poor. Yesterday was a big improvement but we will find out soon if it was just an anomaly. I hope not.

The irony of you invoking my name on here- again- to have an unprovoked pop at me is clearly lost on you. Tell you what, feel free to look at our posts and let's see which of us brings up the other person's name in an unrelated thread and seemingly for no reason more often.

Why can't you just enjoy a win and a good performance? It's so utterly tiresome to see you chasing people around the forum to be antagonistic.
-
I don't even think it's the scoring. Had we played like that today and failed to score obviously everyone would be annoyed in light of our poor run of form but I would still have considered it an improved performance from what we have dished up lately.
-
I think most people are enjoying it. I really can't understand though how someone coukd have watched that performance and seen no difference to how we normally play. It was night and day.
-
I think his point was that in his mind we won but didn't play any better than we normally do other than scoring. I strongly disagree abd my suspicion is that my view would be the majority one.
-
Well yes but you could say that about virtually every performance. The fact is we did score and we scored some goals with some decent attacking moves- moves that we have done incredibly rarely this season.
-
I'm sorry but I can't agree with you at all. Backheels and flicks today, positive balls forward to the byline and then effective crosses in. The first goal came from an attacking move. We haven't scored one of them since he West ham game ffs! Lots more chances and I didn't consider our moves slow at all. Overall a big improvement.

A great win and finally we played differently to how we have done for weeks. We actually moved the ball quickly and had some good passing movements. Bit disappointed that it took injuries and suspensions to players to force changes that allowed hojberg and Austin to show what they can do. We really should have played Austin against Liverpool but it appears he has proved a point now and I would be playing him- fitness permitting- at every opportunity. I now want to see more of the same against City. I expect a loss but I want to see the same style of football and preferably the same players. If we revert back to the same football and players that have failed so far this season then i will still want pellegrino out. Please keep this going saints.
