Yeah this basically. The problem is we would most likely be cr*p in the championship as well so given that choice I'd rather be rubbish in the top league.

Lots of rumours that puel was sacked because he didn't recognise any need to play better football and he wasn't popular with the players so I fail to see how it's the fans fault for being unhappy with months of subpar performance. The mistake was sacking the last man and then not replacing them with someone better.

Ep 20 - Saints F.C. Podcast meets Mauricio Pellegrino
hypochondriac replied to twoandahalfstuds's topic in The Saints
Personally I really enjoyed the one from chaplow. I'm not really interested in pellegrino as I think he will be gone soon and doesn't have much to say but I appreciate the effort of doing these so thanks. -
There is now with West brom...

I can understand keeping him this long - the logic was to see us against a better team who would attack us to see if the style suited us better. Now we have shown we are equally useless against that style, those at the top must be preparing to get rid either this week or if we lose to Everton the week after. If it goes on any longer than that then I really will have no idea what the club are thinking. It must be pretty gutting for the higher ups to see us lose our identity, all the Southampton way stuff and the things that made us exciting and interesting for neutrals in a season or two. Maybe we need another 5 year plan and demonstrate some vision, purpose and drive and give the club some direction because seemingly we have none at the moment. I wonder if it's anything to do with this takeover?

I think when the fanbase is this united in wanting him gone it really just seems like delaying the inevitable if we don't get rid. The worst thing is we have shown zero signs of improvement and he doesn't think we are doing anything wrong.
-
Ah well. If that's the case then at least we had a really decent run and some fond memories (including Europe.) would have been good to win a cup though before any implosion.
-
I can't believe he won't be sacked next week should we lose to Everton
-
It's clearly a bit of both. Some of our players have performed disgracefully for almost a year now but our team should be capable of more than losing every game comfortably with barely a handful of shots on target.
-
Slag him off all you want - I certainly have- but Cortese would have binned this clown weeks ago.
-
It's OK. If we lose the next game comfortably then he will be out. Lets hope it's not too late to avoid relegation.

Weren't there rumours that puel was sacked because he didn't think there was anything wrong with the way we played? If true then surely pellegrino is on borrowed time?

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
hypochondriac replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
It's the mentality of collectivism. It makes it much easier for him to lump everyone under the "racist" banner when the reality is we are all individuals with differing motivations and opinions. It's hard for a collectivist to grasp. -
Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

Ah the classic defence of "you didn't read my posts properly!" it couldn't possibly be that your posts contained the usual contradictory lines and falsehoods so as to obscure the actual point of them. -
It has no bearing either way on his ability to manage Southampton. How he performs at a different club at a different time with different players and in a different setup has no relevance to his time at saints.

Puel doing well at Leicester would prove nothing. Having poorer players undoubtedly has an impact, but the players we have are capable of more than they are currently showing. Given the right incentives and coaching we could at the very least score more goals and play a more entertaining brand of football.
