Probably should have stayed with pellegrino then.
-
I don't think it's lazy newspaper copy to say that there were many games where we were crying out for a change of tactics and we seemingly did not have a plan b if plan a wasn't working (some spurs fans I know say similar.) it's not earth shattering to say that some managers have a more fluid and adaptable way of doing things whilst some stick more to a particular philosophy.
-
It's true though Derek is a piece of sh*t. The office is amazing though, and extras was decent so it's not all bad.
-
I'm not sure that's always the case. On of pochettinos downsides is he stuck rigidly to his tactics every game regardless of the opposition which meant we lost or drew some games that we could have won had he been a little cannier.
-
Sorry I didn't pay for the full argument so I can no longer continue!
-
If we wanted less underwhelming candidates and more choice then we should have sacked him in December. We didn't and this is what we are left with so we may as well make the most of it whoever we end up appointing.
-
Hmm. *tries to decipher the hidden meaning...
-
True but he has had a fair bit more success than pellegrino and seems more passionate. I don't think he has a reputation for playing like pellegrino did anyway which will be sweet relief after the last 18 months if nothing else.
-
Who is he?
-
Read a good article about him a few months ago about how he really looks into the opposition in details and sets up to deal with each game individually. Sounds much better than what we have
-
I was going to write this but thought better of it Ps yes I am.
-
Because the fact he is British means he will be able to communicate his ideas effectively. Its not the sole preserve of British people but it can't hurt. The rest of your post makes little sense. Most sane people are fully aware of what I was saying - see trouser's posts for details.
-
I'd take him if that were true. We've had a ton of leaks about managers before though and most are wrong so I'll hold fire until we get anything more concrete. Thanks for the snippets though.
-
Because I can see alpines point. I know its easy to have a go at him because of how absurd he is, but I do think he has a point. My guess is that there was indecision because of Gao but it does look very odd. I don't think there's a need to send him abuse on this topic.

Hughes is on a different planet if the choice is Mark Hughes or Kelvin Davis to manage saints. You're just making yourself look a bit silly and out of touch.

Telegraph: Saints players are complacent, arrogant and disinterested.

That's pretty ironic given the amount of time you spend metaphorically sticking your fingers in your ears and humming loudly when someone tries to present some facts or opinions you disagree with. -
I wouldn't underestimate their stupidity given how they have approached the last two January transfer windows.
-
It wasn't hindsight though, an unprecedented number of fans and commentators thought he should be sacked around the start of the year. Had we not sacked him yesterday, I can see why people thought there was something dodgy going on. I don't think any manager has performed as poorly for so long for an established club and mot been sacked. It was getting bizarre.
-
Thanks trousers. I would have thought that was obvious. The difference is I said I'd welcome us trying to get out of this hole we have dug by firing the manager and appointing someone. We are finally doing that so I am happy even if it doesn't work out and we go down. For the reasons I've already said, Hughes would be a pretty good appointment for us given the circumstances.
-
"lauded his appointment?" utter rubbish. I've said I think he's a solid appointment under the circumstances if he is who we go for and I think people expressing utter disappointment and deflation are being totally unrealistic and failing to understand the predicament we are in.

Is there anything good we can say about Pellegrino?

Is Mount Mauricio worth a visit? -
Maybe not but we are where we are.
-
I'm not delighted with Hughes you cretin, I think there are some positives to his appointment and I'm extremely pleased we have sacked pellegrino which will give us a chance. There's certainly many more positives to appointing Hughes than kelvin flipping Davis at any rate.
-
Already explained. Has experience in the league so more likely to hot the ground running, was a good player and by many accounts would take no nonsense and would hopefully command more respect than pellegrino, has had some success on this league such as three top ten finishes with Stoke. Quite a lot of positives here given the short time frame to get someone in and the few amount of games we have left. But given that you would prefer kelvin Davis I'm not sure we can take your views entirely seriously...
