I wouldn't be that dramatic as yet- we have definitely regressed from a few seasons ago but that was sadly inevitable with the amount of sales we have had. If we don't bring in some real quality in an attacking position though I will be forced to conclude that we have lost some of that ambition that saw us shooting for the European places.

Seems bizarre if we want a successful season to ignore our most obvious deficiency. I think at the start of the window most would have said a DM was the priority which we addressed but then a creative attacking player was second most important and if we don't get in the correct sort of player we will have messed up in my opinion. Antonio showed us the type of player we were missing last Saturday.

Failure to get in a decent attacking creative player will be another summer of not addressing our most glaring weakness. We did similar last season and it came back to bite us.

No one claimed that this performance difference "matters" but pointing it out when answering a question is not some egregious act. Mcenroe answered a question asked of him with a perfectly legitimate reply but was subsequently crucified by a certain section of the press and others who willfully misinterpreted what he said in an attempt to paint him as a sexist. Women deserve success and popularity in sport and shouldn't ordinarily be compared to male accomplishments in sport like the BBC keeps trying to do. The US radio host who asked McEnroe that question is part of the media that continually tries to compare male and female sporting accomplishments and then gets annoyed when they receive an answer they don't approve of, even though McEnroe is entirely correct with what he says. I think the quote from Ronda Rousey sums up my thoughts quite well on the pay disparity:

My worry if he is sold is how much will actually be spent on strengthening considering Gao is now in charge. I'd like us to keep him this window if for no other reason than to reassure me that Gao isn't just in this to milk us.

A really good article about the subject from earlier this year. It's written by a gay bloke who concludes that the tabloids and the public should just allow people to 'come out' in their own time and not pressure anyone into making their sexual it public.
