  1. In fairness, much of the funding for SEND children relies on the experience and nouse of the people writing the applications. I've seen plenty of examples of children being refused with more extensive needs than someone else who is accepted based solely on the person who knows how to write the application in order to get it accepted. So not entirely erroneous then.
  2. Do you think there was never an intention to break any manifesto commitments at any point? Probably not a very smart idea to lead the markets up the garden path then. Hardly instills confidence and markets aren't fans of unpredictability. What was that pre budget statement about if not telegraphibg the breaking of the manifesto?
  3. That's true. Personality and liability of managers goes a long way. It's not solely performance.
  4. According to the words of the chief exec that is not the case.
  5. See the post three below your one.
  6. Firstly there's zero percent chance the club sees things that way. Secondly what's your plan? 4 years amassing a new team in the championship with dwindling revenues and the quality you do unearth sold to stay afloat?
  7. I was partially correct: You'd rather be investing in football, in the playing squad. So there will be up and down moments. "My ask, simply sitting here, is to stay behind the manager because if we do want to keep the same face, managing the football club, we've got to stay behind that person through ups and downs" The clear implication being that he was removed because the fans had all turned on him.
  8. He said something like if the fans had wanted him to be kept then they should have not started chanting in the way that they did. I personally think sports Republic shouldn't really listen to the fans and just get in the person they believe will win the most which is all fans really care about in the main. Maybe they aren't but.iwoild suggest there is some evidence to suggest that they do make some of their decisions that way.
  9. The idea that they should be running the club on the basis that it is likely we won't get promoted and that it would be a disaster if we did is absolutely ridiculous. Be serious.
  10. I don't agree. I know it's not all on the fans but it's obviously a significant factor. At the fans forum they admitted that the decision to sack Martin was taken after he lost the fans and that if we had wanted him to stay then he wouldn't have gone. Clearly what the fans think is important to them. Personally I didn't want O'Neil at all but in a weird way I would have had more respect for those in charge to push for him and then own the decision. Cortese didn't give a fuck what the fans wanted because he knew best and ultimately he Did know best and the fans got in line when it became clear that appointing Poch was the right decision. Basically if they want Eckert then appoint him permanently now and announce that's what you are doing and own your decision. If it all blows up then it's unambiguous who is at fault. Similarly if we go charging up the league then Spors will rightly get all the plaudits.
  11. One thing we know is that the club makes decisions often because they don't want to upset the fanbase too much. It is almost guaranteed they are keeping an eye on forums like this. They will have seen the reaction to appointing Tonda and will know that if they do it and we get off to a shaky start that there will be something close to a revolt. For that reason I reckon they will keep him in place with no official announcement and hope he does well enough that they can then just announce it. Otherwise he won't and they might panic and just bring someone in ready for next year. Not really a way to manage a football club with purpose and vision but there you are.
  12. Roger beeks was a policeman wasn't he?
  13. Surely Saint David and lifelongsaint should be on the list? Saint David actually rang me once and tried to convince me his takeover was legit. I laughed in his face.
  14. Who is to say that Spors' judgement of Tonda isn't the same as when signing Downs or giving Stephens a 3 year contract?
  15. Looks like the club employs some twin PR. We've got drip feeding to the echo, talksport and Blackmore and now they're activating their sleeper cells on here. Is 87 the amount of commission you charge per shill?
  16. It's the modern equivalent of Lowe sending his PR company onto this forum. Insulting to the fans quite frankly. One of the echo reporters was saying that we are in safe hands with Eckert! Based on what evidence? Wasting what remains of this season, panicking, hiring a new person and then firing them at the end of the season giving whoever they appoint after that less time to go for promotion next year is what is likely to happen.
  17. Edit: double post.
  18. All these PR pieces in the echo and on social media are nauseating and obviously planted by the club. Just pathetic.
  19. Indeed. This really is their last chance and I expect there will be a full on revolt if things go wrong with this appointment yet they don't even have the balls to commit to it and own the decision. Completely gutless.
  20. Great post that's exactly what will happen.
  21. Thank goodness not everyone fears the prospect of being branded racist on social media.
  22. Also didn't investigate it properly because of fear of causing offence because the family is Muslim. She was ten years old. Just so upsetting.
  23. I don't see why it matters anyway. No one is choosing Norwich or Swansea over us. Boro maybe.
  24. Fair enough I didn't read that bit.
  25. TBF something like that is hardly a surprise coming from the Observer- whether you agree with it or not. They are hardly likely to support cuts.
